  1. Let me just make sure I did the math right. By the end of the day, the ONLY rides that never opened were maXair, Windseeker (as expected) and Ocean Motion? If that's the case, that's still 97% of rides up—which is better than a lot of parks. But you're right, they have set a pretty high standard for themselves.
  2. Well, Rob, you know how many people think, once something is gone, many remember it as the "best thing ever" when it wasn't. Drachan Fire, Flashback (SFMM), Son of Beast... I still eve think Geauga Lake was the "best thing ever" (at least it was to me when I was 10) but it really wasn't. I'm sure others can cite even better examples.
  3. Off topic, but does Kings Island still host a "dry run day"? I went to 2 or 3 of those back in college when my roommate worked there and he gave me the free tickets.
  4. Considering they had to prep a new location, tear down a building, have a new support redesigned on Silver bullet and have gotten the footer poured already, I would say they are moving pretty quickly, considering. Once that footer has cured, they will pour the platform and then begin putting the ride up.
  5. It sounds to me like Windseeker not opening was not planned and the early ride times is a bonus for them to say sorry to the pass-holders. It has been a really nasty spring, and even after looking at Cedar points webcam, whenever it rains up there, they quit working on it.
  6. I'm pretty tight when it comes to spending money, but my mortgage is killing me. When i was in my apartment, I wanted to get a house, and now that I have the house, I miss the ease of the apartment.
  7. Has the Scrambler reopened yet? Could somebody post a picture of it? Thanks!
  8. No Son of Beast on this years Park Map, now in its Cedar Fair stylin' Screen Shot of the Park Map (Found in the Math and Science Days brochure download)
  9. There are some coasters at Sea World Orlando that don't have roofs. And as for Grizzly, it if was originally built with skid-brakes, then it would have needed a roof over the station and brake run.
  10. Firefall (Texas Twister from Geauga Lake) was the first Top Spin built in the U.S. (1993) That's probably a good reason why they have to replace parts so often, since it is an older model.
  11. Son of Beast and Mean Streak... without question. Then the Hurlers... both of them. Other bad rides I have wanted to see closed and have fallen: • Typhoon - Santa's Village (currently for sale and not operating) • Hercules • Viper • Flashback
  12. I also rode it within 2 weeks of opening and it was bad for me as well. I think I have taken 20 or more rides on the thing, and though I thought the G-Trains helped, the ride was never good to begin with.
  13. They mentioned on their Facebook Page that no rides have been removed and the Action Theater will be open and show the Sponge Bob film again. EDIT: It looks like they no longer have the Citigraph map—it looks very Cedar-Fairish. It's hard to see, but it has indeed been redone, you can tell by the flatter colors and patches.
  14. ^ The tower hasn't gone vertical yet? There were some construction shots posted on the 21st of Feb that looked like it was having the base piece put into place. I wonder if they ran into a delay. ~ J.P.
  15. Yes, Crazywolf, but Windseeker holds 64 people—which was a major selling-point for Cedar Fair as they purchased them for their 4 most-attended parks.
  16. It's not neglect, it's a cost-saving measure.
  17. I do hope they get that bond approved, but to the public eye, it just looks like a $50 Million stimulus—which isn't the case.
  18. On to Green Lantern... More supports have been put into place and installation of the transfer bay has begun. The webcam seems to have moved around in the last day or so. High winds maybe?
  19. Thank you very much for the trip report, Rob. Always fun reading! Little fact about Cedar Points Thrill Shot: Kinzel didn't want one, but it was Jack Falfus that talked him into it.
  20. Thanks, Jeff. I had no idea that the rides were operated as concessions... kinda like the old Cedar Point days.
  21. I've been reading your trip reports on this park, and I don't understand why their operations are so bad. I have a few questions: Why do people keep coming? What causes the ridiculous waits? Is it long lines or minimal trains or just slow people? How does the public not make a fuss? Are the lines still crazy on the decent-capacity rides? (Frisbee, Wave Swinger) Is this Park a POP Gate or pay-per-attraction? Have you ever confronted guest relations about those shoddy operations or ever tried to put together an ERT session?
  22. Lordy... why so much hate against Cedar Fair? 5 years ago, the company could do no wrong and now it's bash-bash-bash-bash-bash! I for one don't mind Invertigo going to Dorney. They already have a place for it, the ride will be new to the market, and it's well below the height restriction for that area. Dorney obviously has been doing well, and what better way to add to the park by putting in another used coaster at a fraction of the cost of a new one? I don't want to see anything bad happen to Great America, but Marriot dumped it, Paramount dumped it and Cedar Fair had it for sale for some time, so there's obviously something going on... though I still have faith that Cedar Fair will hold onto it.
  23. You know... if they move the Skycoaster to Invertigo's spot, that would open up a huge area to build something nice and big.
  24. ^ That Kings Dominion post is weird. Those are actually the stats for Kings Islands' model as it's in the action zone and opened in 1999. Since the Paramount Parks used the same server, there is some sort of glitch it looks like—unless they entered the stats for a template. I could see it going to Kings Dominion, though.
  25. Cedar Fair Didn't take out Stealth. Paramount did.
