  1. Mostly what this situation comes off as this to me: The fair board want an operator to bring their personal money to the table, buy/fix all the rides themselves, share all the profits and in the end won't ever own the physical park. Yep, sounds like the Government. That in the end is why the Koch's walked away.
  2. ^ I've said this before... It's Cedar Fair. It'll be ready opening Day unless they run into a design issue (Mavrick, Shoot the Rapids, Windseeker)
  3. Kings Island's Windseeker was closed yesterday.
  4. Remember folks..... GCI, CCI and many others were considered for building this ride.... NONE of them wanted anything to do with it.
  5. I have a little bit of history on that background (which is a painting) at my Wally World page: www.facebook.com/pages/Walley-World/362408116420?ref=stream
  6. A few shots from today... Love, John Peck I see you Mr Crane! BOTH of these may be gone soon "Unwelcomed Visitor" (who knows what I am referencing? Cleveland folks may know) If you look really close, you'll see that about 30 feet or so of block brake is gone No Windseeker for you! Racer... racing!
  7. I noticed the cabin of the Space Spiral has been lowered. It was sitting mid-tower for the last few weeks. Shame for them to lose it.
  8. Yes, those are the trains for Twisted Twins, "Lola" (Pink) and "Stella" (Teal)
  9. ^ Look's like all the Cedar Fair Haunt sites are set-up like that. Yes, very generic and I don't like the roll-overs.
  10. This is Cedar Fair, unless a problem comes up during testing, this coaster should be open by the first day of the season.
  11. Couple of Banshee Items from Google. (the t-shirt linked to a TPR page) Banshee is basically the Steel force Logo with better text Enjoy!
  12. According to their Facebook page, they are making Zipline free. Of course, I chimed in at was a stupid idea that was (not those exact words) because they don't know what their bottom line for the season is on it yet, since it's new.
  13. I just let the numbers speak for themselves. (From the 2011 Park Attendance report—figures are estimated)
  14. I have been a designer for 15 years, but I am more Marketing and advertising based rather than illustrative. Most designers draw in Adobe Illustrator which is a "Vector" program, and then import those graphics into Photoshop. Some other may traditionally draw the illustrations, scan them into Photoshop and add color, texture and effects. Though Illustrator is able, brochure text is often added in through Adobe Indesign or QuarkXpress (layout programs). There of course, are other cheaper software possibilities, but the Adobe software is tops.
  15. Fantastic report, Laura! You're amazing!
  16. This blog post from today makes me feel better. http://bluegrassboardwalk.com/
  17. I wonder if Space Spirals days are numbered now, too. It wasn't open much the last few time's I have been there. (usually on Sunday's) I've mentioned this in the past, and this is important to remember: "Pointing out that several parks are at a "critical mass" with regard to rides, Mr. Ouimet is not afraid of "exiting underutilized capacity," which to me sounds like removing under-performing, older rides to avoid growing costs." ~ from newsplusnotesblogspot.com
  18. I own a page on Facebook called "Carnival Rides" and a fan sent in a photo of a Chance Giant wheel which toppled during a tornado in Kansas in late March and crushed a Go-Gator. (no injuries were reported) I don't have a photo credit or anything, but I wanted to at least share it. Enjoy! Just a little paint and it will be as good as new.
  19. That Dragster Girl sure is a cutie pie! Thank you for the Geauga Lake pictures, I have been very sad—literally hearbroken due to its closing, but it was nice to see the place again. Guess I should get over it.
  20. I changed the title... never dawned on me.
  21. No, I'm not that big on credits nowadays... I stopped counting at 460 or 470.
  22. The church where I grew up worshiping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, had its annual Festival (this is from last year) and the wife and I took a walk-through to see what it had. Sadly, the festival used to be so much more than it was with better rides, entertainment and light gambling which benefits the parish. It still has this, but it has been toned down. the carnival was provided by a company called "Lisko" whom I had never heard of. They have some old equipment, and some odd-looking pieces. I hope to attend the carnival again this year. Enjoy the photos... Sea Ray Gravi... er.... UFO! I kinda liked this cheap sign on the Zipper Sizzler with LED's Zipper in Shut Down Mode due to an approaching storm Oddest kiddie ride I ever saw Overview Slim Pickins on the rides Rounding out the rides Holy #@!% . . . pretty nasty storm, we got the heck outta there just in time.
  23. On the contrary, T2 would fetch a good price if sold. It's rough, has a 52" height restriction, needs a ton of work and is in the way of a possible water park expansion. However.... I think T2 is owned by the State or the Fairgrounds, but don't quote me on that.
