Theme Park Review Announces Our 2006 UK Trip!
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
OK, I thought about it for 5 seconds and I'm in! I just have to send the mula tomorrow. It will make it to CA from FL in like 5 years! I just have to move some mula from savings to checking. Yes, I live in a complex world. I'm so excited! So how much should we budget for food? I'm not looking to eat at Chez Fancy, but just something cheap like McD's. Also, give me a private hotel room because I snore like a chainsaw! That is, unless someone wants to room with me. Wow, I get Robb confined on the bus? Oh baby! I think I will budget this: $1800: Mula for TPR $800: Airfare $400-$500: Food, souvenirs, etc. $10,000: Stripper money for tips and lapdances -
Theme Park Review Announces Our 2006 UK Trip!
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You can put me on the "strongly interested" list. I just have to figure out a few things, but I'm pretty sure I can go. I wonder if TPR is going to Japan in 2007? That would be pretty cool. Hey, are we going to stay at Pontius? -
Theme Park Review Announces Our 2006 UK Trip!
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm debating on doing this. I can accumulate enough time off to join all you happy people. But I am debating on England or Japan for 2006 and I can't do both. Maybe I do can Japan in 2007... I've never been outside of the U.S., so joining some people who are experienced may be a good idea. Anyone check on airfare yet? I'm guessing it will be $1200-$1500. Expenses for food and such is $500-$600 (?). -

About a year before the Dutch Wonderland visit, the kid from the video (his name is Christopher, BTW) rode It's a Small World at the Magic Kingdom. Suffice to say, he might be scarred for life. The ride was worse than being chased around by women's clothing! You can click on the link below to watch it. It's in .mpeg format and runs about 4 minutes. Enjoy! http://s21.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1Y6VIC9ZU2U4G01I6AEWFWZT7B

Smoking banned in public buildings!
BarryH replied to CoasterCrazy's topic in Random, Random, Random
Florida has a "Clean Indoor Air Act." You can't smoke indoors anywhere except in bars. Restaurants don't have smoking sections anymore, not even outdoor smoking seating. When I travel outside FL, I am sometimes surprised when I am asked "smoking or non-smoking?" at a restaurant. -
Watch my "Lady Gay" Dutch Wonderland video
BarryH replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
He's probably in some mental institution now after being tortued by the Lady Gay jokes and being chased around the store with women's clothing!!! --Robb "Loves this video on so many different levels!" Alvey The same kid was tortured on It's a Small World at the Magic Kingdom! I'm going to post that video soon. -
Well, I may be following in the footsteps of R&E and headed to Japan. I might go in October 2006. I was thinking of flying to LAX and doing the Haunt, DL, and DCA. Then I can fly to Japan and do some neat parks. Then back to LAX for the whatever the new ride is at SFMM and then back home. It seems to be cheaper if I do a round trip from LAX to FL and then LAX to Japan rather than direct flight from FL to Japan. Anyway, I was looking into going to parks, mainly in Tokyo. So what are your recommendations? I want to go to some cool parks that are easy to access from the bullet train. I'm not getting lost in a foreign country! I think I will spend one day at USJ and 3-4 days at Tokyo Disneyland. I'm also up to doing 1/2 day parks. So what would you suggest? Is there anything else cool to see in Japan other than coasters?

McDiet - or Why "Super Size Me" is totally stupid
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
I saw this on the "Today" show this morning. She ate only the sandwiches and a Diet Coke. It seems the fatty things at McDonald's are the fries and regular Cokes! In "Super Size Me," one of the rules was that Morgan Spurlock had to eat everything on the McD's menu at least once, so he probably ate a lot of the fattier stuff on the menu. Also -- we look at Elissa who eats McD's 24/7 it seems and she is so skinny! Robb, on the other hand, is a different story. -

Dollywoods turn to get sued.
BarryH replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If we can sue for coasters causing brain damage, then why aren't there more lawsuits against Vekoma SLCs and corkscrews? I've been riding Vekoma rides for years and I have no brain damage. 2+2 =...um....er....what's a "2?" -

Orlando Haloween Adventures
BarryH replied to ChrisZer0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you can afford it, do the HHN VIP tour. You get true front of the line access to the haunted houses. You don't have to wait in an Express line. You just go up to the front of the line! Also, the VIP tour guides are very knoweldgable and can give you some behind-the-scenes stories and insights to the houses and the rides. -

Hated coasters you like.
BarryH replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm the opposite with the Beast at PKI. Everyone says that they love it, but I rode it and said, "WTF?" It was fast, but that's it. Although it's not a coaster to some, I really liked JTA at Sea World San Diego, although most people I know don't agree. -
