Long story short, every Spring when there is Wäldchestag in Frankfurt/Germany I get about 10 Friends from L.A. to come with me to experience this crazyness(Oktoberfest is nothing compared to this). I tried to post a "tripreport" but my pics are to big, so if someone can message me and explain how to resize pictures for TPR, I would appriciate it! ANYHOW, TAUMLER is probably the best Flatride there is. You can just hang around the ride and watch people be silly/drunk/act stupid all night long (like the Robb Oktoberfest Video with the slide), but somehow there are no cool videos of the ride on you tube, so I made one which is not that great either, but somewhat funny (after the 1 min mark). Here you see a half full Taumler Reason for this post is that if you can find some other(hopefully crazier) Taumler Videos in the depth of the "Internet" , post it here as it is a ride you will never see in the U.S. Edit, as I never really open a Topic on TPR(plus I am kinda Tipsy), I might aswell add the best Flatride ever to this topic

My understanding is that this was a injury to a maintenance worker, not a guest. Work related accidents do happen(they should not, but nothing is 100% safe) and happen each and every day. Of course with a high profile place like Magic Mountain it will be blown out of proportion. I just hope the worker will be alright.

The main season starts Memorial Day Weekend and I am not aware that either Riddler or Tatsu are down to one train. With Apocalypse there could be multiple reasons for one train operation, none of we would have an "insight" on. I hardly think Magic Mountain planned it this way, but as mentioned before, it can happen.

The author also states that Coney Island has just opened it's first new roller coaster since the Cyclone went in in the 1920's. This is just a AP article that came out 3 days ago, I sent a message to advice them on there mistakes, but guess nobody cared to read it. So now other Newspapers all over the country will reprint what AP wrote

Coming from Europe, I am a public transportation nerd. Even in L.A. I use it quite frequently, so when I have the time, I go to some of the public mta meetings where this was discussed The Daily News mentioned it aswell As said, nothing confirmed as of yet, but chances are pretty good... Edit, for the quote(which comes from a "person in charge")

Just a quick note for people planing on going to Magic Mountain via public transportation(which comes up from time to time here). Starting in the fall, there probably will be a Flyaway bus that goes directly from LAX to to Magic Mountain(or close). It is not 100% confirmed yet, but chances are pretty good. Of course this would make it rather easy to get from L.A. to the park for something like $6. with buses running every 30 min till late into the night(no more leaving the park at 4pm to catch Metrolink on your way back) As a public transportation advocate I will keep you(of course) informed on the details as soon as they will be become avail....

Oh, no, the bottom level used to be open all the time. You would take the stairs from the upper deck to the lower deck. It was open air and while there were bars so you couldn't climb out, it wasn't enclosed like the upper deck....which was the problem...idiot people used to throw stuff out of there, and that was the main reason why it was closed. Yup, stupid people are to blame... Interesting little note about the Skytower is also that it was first build to be a Playboy Club (in Chicago if I am not mistaken)

I think we now know why the Kiddy Coaster was postponed from 2010. There is no way you can market that ride at Magic Mountain as a single attraction, but to wait 10 Months and now can boost 3 new coasters instead of 2 makes one heck of a difference.(In regards of marketing) I am sure Kid Coaster is not the final name. Come to think of it, the video has not officially been released by SFMM, Screamscape got some major scoop right there last night

TPR's EPIC Oktoberfest Trip Report!
alexinla replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I just got back from the Oktoberfest, last time I went there was 20+ years ago and I did not really planing on going while in Germany but this Tripreport kinda wet my appetite Of course it helped that my cousins company had a table and we got free beer coupons(two each, which last about an hour) So I went via train from Frankfurt to Munich, a quick 3 1/2 hour ride, once there I just followed the people towards the "Wiesn" The Oktoberfest sure is something, you can not put into words or pictures(I barely took any). It is somehow German crazyness with controlled mayem. Let me explain this, you can not get a beer unless you sit on a table. Basically you have to sit(or stand on the table) to drink, lol. You can not buy alkohol outside the beertends, but you could bring your own to the fair if you want to(legal in Germany to drink in public once you pass the age of 16) Most amazing feeling is though to walk into one of these tents at 11.30am(on a Monday) and it is packed with 12.000+ people, the music does not even start before noon(It's a tradition aka law) but if you dont have a reservation, you would hardly find a seat. And yes, everyone of these people will have a 32 oz beer in front of them. AND there are about 14-15 Beertends with the same amount of people there right at that moment. Simply Amazing! Couple of notes, I dissagree with Robb(only slightly) that Oktoberfest ís to touristy. Of course it is, but at the same time I think it depends on what beertend you go to. Löwenbräu is the only beer Americans would know off, so of course you would have U.S.and English tourists there, other tends are different though. I met a lot of locals who were surprisingly friendly. There is a myth that Bavariens dont like people who are, well, not bavarien, but that was not the case. Good times indeed! ANYHOW -Robb, you mentioned that it will be 5-6 years before another Oktoberfest Trip. Hope it will be sooner as I will sign up for it right now -I saw the "Shocker" dark ride half drunk and Piers Voice saying "SHOCKER", in my head, very scary -How come no "Rockit" love so far?, this is one flatride I will never do. No matter how many beers I had -Kidtums is adorable -Maybe next time mix the Octoberfest with the Stuttgart Fair which is only 1 1/2 hour trainride from Munich and less touristy but almost as big as the Octoberfest, happening at the same time(new credits!!) Edit for a Rocket Video(skip to 42 sec to know why I would never get on this ride! -

I am an idiot! Once a German, always a German, lol, of course I ment TAUMLER http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jx6GXU2KwW0 As I am in Germany right now and after this awsome Tripreport, I had to change plans and will be at the Oktoberfest on Monday! My cousins company is having reservations and vip treatment aka free beer and food at one of the tents, how could I pass on that? Got a place to stay at a youth hostel(oh my), but considering some tents will have gay nights on monday(which one again?), I am not to worried. HA! Dont think I will do a Tripreport as there is no way I could outshine this Epic Thread, will see what happens though... -
TPR's EPIC Oktoberfest Trip Report!

Thank you for sharing this great Trip Report with us. Germany after all is my home country, I am still amazed that this crazy country(and I mean it in a good way) can export more goods than the entire United States. One would think with all the good beer, fairs and festivals nobody would actually have time to work Quick question, do they still have a Scrambler at the Octoberfest?(been 10+years since I visited). One would think that the best drunk pictures/videos you could get would be right there... Also, do you guys plan on visiting the fair in Stuttgart which is pretty much the same size as the Octoberfest and not to far from Munich at all(plus probably a couple of more credits)? -

Glad everyone is having a blast at the Oktoberfest, I might add that you sure have a lot of luck with the weather. Looks like it is perfect there right now
