  1. One more picture... I forgot to add the Snowman ride, but now I am done
  2. Did not realize that my Tripreport made the Frontpage(thanks for that) , so might aswell overstay my welcome with a couple of more random pictures, HA! @ crazydaveh , you dont see my face in this tripreport(for a reason)= It is ok to be drunk, none of these pictures were taken sober, so might aswell post yours! @ Moose, I love that beergarden next to Olympia Looping. Spent two hours there. So if you go next year, let me know as I will be there for sure.. ANYHOW, just a couple of random pics before we forget about Oktoberfest until next year.. This is one of these pictures you can not take sober, no matter how much you try, it would not work. But drunk, just click and voila, you got a picture to start a random Oktoberfest Thread... Some more Flatrides, Monster was also a Premier at Oktoberfest this year There should be no German Fair Tripreport without a Breakdancer(so sorry forgetting about including it in the first Tripreport). I told you the Top Spin was mean... ...but here you can see how mean it really was! Let's not forget about the Ferriswheel, which is a Schwarzkopf Creation aswell It is MASSIV! Here are the Stats to proove it! Lets take a minute to honor Auto Scooters, this is THE place for kids at random fairs in Germany to meet other kids(before the internet) ..and to this day they are quite popular for basically the same reason (now they just meet there thru foursquare) Ok, this is the random Picture Thread. So you will see a lot of horses at Oktoberfest, but do you think this is a American, British, Australian or (add your own country) Tourist? If you know....e-mail Dan (might aswell) Let's get back to funny walk-thru Funhouses! They beat any County Fair in the States ...just saying... Might aswell just chill in between the rides... ...At the Käfer Tent, which is smal and where the celebs hang out Random Girls And I conclude this Tripreport with the "Word Fattest Woman" from the Illusion Show (Wow, what an Illusion it was) SEE YOU IN 2012 AT THE OKTOBERFEST! (I will be there 100%, if you plan on it or have questions, just leave a message here or sent me a private one)
  3. The only queue are really just the ramps where you get to the rollercoasterstation. None of the Flats have one, it is just jump on the ride when it slows down kinda deal As for the prices, Olympia Looping was €8, Höllenblitz and Alpinabahn €6 and the Mouse €5(but not 100%sure about that). Keep in mind that they can change the prices in either direction at ay time, so on slow days Olympia Looping might be €6 during the day and €10 on a busy Saturday Night... Thanks for the nice words in regards of this Tripreport, it was my first so edited a lot of pictures out as I did not wanted to go overboard with hundreds of pics
  4. Let me conclude this Tripreport with my favorite part. OK, Oktoberfest is about drinking beer, big rides and going crazy(if you like). But besides the beertents there are quiet corners where you can just sit down, relax and meet people from all over the World. While you have to find these quiet corners, it is well worth it to look for them(some are right next to the major coasters) as making new friends, having great conversations and an all around good time is really what makes this "Fest" special. Nice... See, there is peace and quiet between those 6.9 Million people This beercarousell is really spinning! Slow but none-the-less it will mess you up when you sit on it for an hour(or two) I loved this place(and met some cool italian dudes) I think you get my point See you there in 2012 (or 2013 with TPR)
  5. I know this is getting long but I want to show some random/wierd stuff that you can also find at the Oktoberfest The Fleacircus, I highly recomend it if you are drunk to check it out. I had a blast(although I think they work with magnets and not fleas) There was a shout out to the L.A.County fair with this Monster Truck Show A Mouse Circus... Illusions just freaks you out after a couple of beers, trust me, dont go, you will think way to much about this show for the rest of the night Let's not forget about all the Funhouses. I counted at least 10... This one looked quite impressive, although it reminds me of that awfull Robin Williams Movie in the 90's ....and of course you have plenty of those "Geisterbahnen" aka Haunted rides which are all looking impressive but are rather tame on the inside I took this Picture just for Robb, dont ask me why as I have no clue...
  6. Let's check out the coasters... What could possibly cost €8/$12 to ride??? Oh yeah, this piece of Art is actually worth every penny you spent on it Just look at it! For all those people who are worried that the ride will go away. I was sitting next to it for two hours(at the beercarousell) and with 3 trains running, €8 each/28 people per train, this ride makes some serious $$$ uups €€€...and there was a 20 min line in the Afternoon. As long as the operators will howl in the $ like this, Olympia Looping will be around for years to come And what do I see here? Alpinabahn was in some lonely corner but no worries, the ride was packed all day/night long It is just sexy! Next time I am graving some coasterporn, I look at this picture Alpinabahn next to a Beercarousell = Juice in your pants (you need a sense of humor to read this website....You know what I mean!) So pretty, so smooth, so sexy, sooooo...ok, I need to hold off the beer while writing this Tripreport Poor Höllenblitz, it is such a massiv ride really, but in pictures it always looks so tiny And yes, in the frontseats you will get wet! Almost forgot about the Mouse, which was cool aswell, especially considering that they were... RACING!
  7. The night was long and fun! There are plenty of afterparties and Munich is a great city. Man, the stories I could tell would certainly belong on a different messageboard, lol, so let's just start with the next day ... I stayed at a youthhostel(which are nothing like in the States) for €27/person(double occupancy), so if you plan ahead, it wont be to expensive(like a previous poster mentioned here) ANYHOW....let's move on! Back to Oktoberfest at 10AM on a Friday, Breakfast was Käsespätzle and a Beer Time to check out some of the Flatrides(there is no way I could post all of them here, so here you get an overview) Frisbee Rocket, which honestly is a ride I would never get on Techno Power is a flatride with B&M Suspended(a la Batman The Ride) Seats. I know the ride has nothing to do with B&M but it felt like a Six Flags Batman Coaster that is out of control Rio Rapids is a brand new, well, Rapid Ride which had it's premiere at the Oktoberfest Starflyer and some other flatride The Logflume was quite impressive This ride(Freestyle) kinda reminds me of RCT3 If Elissa gets ERT on this in 2013, I will sent in my deposit right now ;.) Parkhour, I have no clue what this ride actually does... Playball is another of those mysterious rides I have to actually check out in 2012 This was a mean Top Spin that actually got you wet So many rides, so little time.... And last but not least, TAUMLER! My favorite ride!!! You might ask why....ok, the reason is.... ....it is the only ride that you can take pictures like this
  8. Here is the Oktoberfestversion of the classic "Stand by me"- It is not the "crazy song" that makes everyone stand up but although I am bad with my camera(probably drunk to), you get a little feeling of how it is inside the beertents..
  9. I started this thread so might aswell post my Tripreport here aswell Ok, Oktoberfest is probably the ultimate themepark. Just think about it, you have great coasters, tons of flatrides, darkrides, funhouses, wierd Shows and BEERTENTS!!! This year it will go down as one of the best as the weather was perfect! Temperatures in the upper 70's, sunny skies and a almost recordbreaking 6.9Million visitors ( Magic Mountain gets 2.8 Million visitors in an ENTIRE YEAR, compare that to just 17 days that Oktoberfest is up and running and you might understand how big this is!) So, yeah, it is a busy place and although the visitor record of 7 Million was not broken, the beer consumption of 7.5 Million Liter was (1 Liter=32 oz) Of course Oktoberfest is more than just Beer and rides, I will try to show a little of the "vibe" but pictures can only show you so much, being there is what it is all about... I went for 2 Days, first Night I was hanging out with my friends at the Haxenbraterei Beertent, the second day was all about relaxing, having a beer here and there to take it all in Craziest thing is that by the time you see these pictures, EVERYTHING WILL BE GONE until next year (This is my first Picture TR, so bare with me if I make some mistakes..) Love the German High Speed trains and yes, the majority of the riders from Frankfurt to Munich were getting ready for Oktoberfest while drinking beer(which is of course legal in Germany) A big change from my last visit(20 years ago) is that young people actually love wearing the Lederhosen/Dirndl. That was so uncool back in the days, now it is almost a must! Tourists get into it aswell, you can get your gear right at the railwaystation All dressed up, it is time to enter the crazyness that is Oktoberfest (From the railwaystation you dont need a map, just follow the crowds in Lederhosen/Dirndl) It is big... (and busy for 1pm) I see you Olympia Looping.. I am getting goosebumps... That's as close as I can get to the rides because I had a 12 Noon reservation at the Beertent...(and was 1 1/2 hours late) There are 16 Beertents at Oktoberfest, you would think these are permanent structures but nope, they will be taken down just like the coasters and rides as soon as Oktoberfest is over They start to build the tents in the middle of July(for the Sept 17th opening), each tent holds between 5000-8000 people and it takes 4 weeks to dismantle them- That's a lot of work for just 17 days... And that's what it is all about... (Beerprices were between €8.95.9.20=$12/13 for a liter/32oz) This was my tent(Haxenbraterei) for the first night from 1.30pm to 11pm! Yup! It was fun, you meet people from all over the World, sing songs you forgot about and of course have a beer(or seven) After a couple of hours it kinda all looks like this...
  10. Today at 12 Noon the Oktoberfest officially opend it's doors (actually you can come early, but they wont sell you any beer until the Mayor tapped that first keg...) I go twice this year and thought to open this thread to see if other tpr'lers go aswell. Maybe a Meet and Greet can be done, who knows... Otherwise, I will try to post some pictures here (last year I went and took exactly one picture of me in the beertent, so I will try to do better this year ) Or others can post there pictures here as I probably will fail... ANYHOW, for the beer to flow the mayor will say ""O' zapft is! " . Lets take that spirit and see if we can do a cool Oktoberfest 2011 TPR Thread... The last seconds before the beer will flow... IT IS OPEN! The beertents are insane..
  11. Are you crazy? What happend to common sense or being responsible towards another living creature? In this particular case the parking attendant could have slapped a sticker to the girls head saying "PUT YOUR DOG IN OUR FREE KENEL" and that idiot would have still left the dog in the car. Needless to say that when entering the parkinglot you WILL PASS THE KENEL which has HUGE LETTERS SAYING DOG KENEL, ugh. Sorry for the rant, but this is just....
  12. And now it goes viral... Gawker picked up the Story and honestly, the write up is excellent: http://gawker.com/5839610/woman-upset-at-six-flags-for-rescuing-her-dog-from-her-hot-car-then-losing-him
  13. Well, lets be fair here. The Website should go online on the 14th, these are just screenshots of something in progress(which I am sure TPR is doing aswell). If they put it online like this, you can blast them all your want for mistakes, otherwise sit back, relax and be happy that this years Fright Fest should be a lot better compared to years past

  17. They took the article down, it was posted prematurely (giggity). You can still find the article in Google Cache(just without the pictures) Six Flags unveils new attractions for every park in 2012 Six Flags unveils new attractions for every park in 2012 By Brady MacDonald Los Angeles Times Staff Writer September 1, 2011, 3:30 a.m. Six Flags unveiled its 2012 lineup of new roller coasters, thrill rides, water slides and live shows at the amusement park chain's 12 North American locations. New Six Flags President and Chief Executive Jim Reid-Anderson said a full slate of new additions would become an annual event, promising to add a new attraction at "every Six Flags park every year." Six Flags' 2012 attractions include two new roller coasters, two relocated coasters, three tower rides, three water slide complexes and at least one show. Among the highlights: Six Flags Great America (outside Chicago) – Billed as the only wing coaster in the United States, X-Flight by Bolliger & Mabillard will feature barrel rolls and high-speed drops with seats that straddle the 3,000-foot-long track. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (Northern California) – The Superman: Ultimate Flight launch coaster will rocket riders at 60 miles per hour through a towering 150-foot-high inversion and a pair of vertical twists. Six Flags Magic Mountain (Southern California) – The Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom drop tower will be attached to both sides of the park's 415-foot-tall Superman: Escape from Krypton coaster tower. The new thrill ride will rank as the world’s tallest (400 feet) and fastest (85 mph) drop tower. Six Flags Great Adventure (New Jersey) and Six Flags Fiesta Texas (San Antonio) – Both parks will install Sky Screamer swing towers for 2012. Six Flags built Sky Screamers of varying heights at Six Flags St. Louis (236 feet) and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (150 feet) in 2011. No word yet on the ride heights at Great Adventure and Fiesta Texas. Six Flags America (outside Washington D.C.) – The 100-foot-tall Apocalypse stand-up coaster will travel at 55 mph through a loop and a corkscrew along a 2,900-foot-long track. The 1990 Bolliger & Mabillard coaster, formerly known as Iron Wolf, will be relocated from Six Flags Great America near Chicago. Six Flags New England (Massachusetts) – The 192-foot-tall Goliath inverted boomerang coaster will travel forward and backward at 65 mph through a cobra roll and a loop along a 1,200-foot-long track. The 2001 Vekoma coaster, formerly known as Deja Vu, will be relocated from Six Flags Magic Mountain near Los Angeles. Six Flags St. Louis (Missouri) and Six Flags Great Adventure (New Jersey) – Both parks will add a Bonzai Pipeline looping water slide to their respective Hurricane Harbor water parks. Great Escape (New York) – The Nordic-themed Alpine Freefalls water slide complex will be added to the Great Escape's Splashwater Kingdom water park. Six Flags Over Georgia (Atlanta) – A 45th anniversary tribute show will join the park's entertainment lineup. Six Flags Over Texas (Dallas/Ft. Worth), Six Flags Fiesta Texas (San Antonio), Six Flags Mexico (Mexico City) and La Ronde (Montreal) – Each of the parks will add a still-undisclosed ride, attraction or show in 2012.
  18. Yes, its right next door from the carnival.... Now we are talking,lol.... You should take some pics of it aswell(pg13 of course) as I dont think most Americans on TPR can even comprehend how "free" other countries are..
  19. In Hamburg you go for the Reeperbahn. Although the ride there can be bumpy, most enjoy them quite a bit (Sorry, I just had to go there, but looking forward to the pictures)
  20. My guess would be 8/02/11 at 12.13pm
  21. Log Jammer is a good 5/6 Minutes long, some guys can be rather fast I dont trust that Log Jammer removal rumor AT ALL, but if it would be true, I can not see SFMM taking out a classic ride like this just for a screamscape rumored thrillride. Now the Divecoaster rumor for 2012 that some other Website mentioned a long time ago would make sense with a Log Jammer removal as the area is a perfect fit for a ride like this... I wont get to excited(just yet). Time will tell...
  22. From SFMM Facebook: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79k7X_N1Ffo
  23. It is truely EPIC considering it will take them only 6 hours to take the ride down and have it up and running a day or two later at another fair. Just crazy! We might expand the topic to crazy rides you will never see in the U.S. Rocket is certainly one of those (as seen here at the Oktoberfest) Offride: Onride(with some cool views of the Oktoberfest) I almost get on any ride, THIS is one I would never do, no matter how drunk I am
  24. It might have something to do with that these rides have been around for a good 30 years with no serious injuries
  25. If you want to talk about Taumler exclusively why did you yourself bring up a second ride in your original post? Dang, Tom Sellec... No reason really, it is 4.30am out here and we can gladly expand this topic to Flatrides we never see in the U.S....
