  1. I've seen so many families lately abuse the lines here in Korea because they think having kids means they shouldn't wait in line because it's too long. One of the park hands out passes for people who leave to re-enter at the entrance (so almost the start of the line) if they leave and takes them at the entrance since the line often spills out because the assumption is people won't be gone long and guess what happens.... people abuse it! I know I've posted about the incident I had a few times but this is the issue, parks start making it OK for families to leave for the bathroom then pretty soon you get bathroom breaks that take 30-40 minutes so the kids can grab another ride or a snack with the mommy while daddy holds the line. That's exactly what happened to me, the family never joined the line or if they did it must have been literally seconds, then for the next 80 minutes the mom phoned up her friend with the kids to tell them they weren't at the station and they magically showed when they were 2 boats away, 80 minutes later from their "bathroom break" which is what they were screaming at me and the attendant before unleashing some verbal abuse on me and trying to jump the fence at me. And I'm one of those people who grudgingly let's the people past because it's my poor wife who ends up dealing with the fallout of my objections since she speaks the language so I bite down so as not to ruin her day. You can't have a rule like that because people will always take advantage of how long their "bathroom break" was. Although in an unrelated incident, I once saw a whole group of adult Chinese tourists jump in with just one of their friends for a photo with Winnie-The-Pooh at HKDL right next to the cast-member who did nothing so it seems you really do need to say something for them to intervene instead of just saying it's against the rules. I wasn't happy but my wife loves Winnie and we were two people away and she begged me not to make a scene. Seemed really annoying that those people couldn't wait it out together when it was only a 10 minute wait.
  2. It'd been rumored to be human error for a very long time, nice to see it finally confirmed. Some extra info: Source
  3. Completely honestly, In just under 6 years of semi-frequent visits to the park, I have yet to see a single person be declined.
  4. Everland can't run T Express if the weather is lower than -2 and I know from personal experience once the temperatures get low in the winter, it can be very hit and miss on the visits if it's even running, even when it's above that amount if it's windy or wet. They normally just take it down for its yearly rehab January-February because the temperature just doesn't get high enough to run it at all so they use that time to get the work done since Everland is a 365 day park. I'm kind of curious if El Toro is not as smooth when the cars are empty, when I've used the single-rider line I've sometimes ended up in a "single-rider dump" and though it's nothing to complain about at all, it always seems a bit more shaky in an empty car. A "single-rider dump" being the times they've been running all 3 trains they have to constantly load so fast and dispatch that the grouper already has the next trains peoples lined up so by the time single seats are spotted the gates have already shut again so they dump you in an empty car in the middle when there's a big empty spot where a group has gone for the front or back and the grouper didn't have time to get people to those gates so they fill up the seats with the 2-3 people in the single rider line. You still need a reservation ticket (T Express doesn't always open its standby line) so there's normally only 1 or 2 in the single rider line. It's a shame since they dispatch so many cars there's always a lot of empty seats but I guess they don't want people flooding the single rider line when it's sold out. it could also just be because the ride runs almost 300 days a year for the last 7 years but I was just curious if El Toro could be like that since I remember when I first arrived riding an empty car and not finding it too rattly. An example of what my friends and I took to referring to as the "single ride dump" is the man in his own car. I wish there was a way to run the single rider without needing the reservation ticket, I always see so many empty seats but at the speed they needed to get the trains out to keep 3 trains cycling there just isn't much time for the spotter to spot the seats, get a person there and get him past the next 2 trains worth on the platform before the gates close.
  5. True that, I remember detouring to the Studio Ghibli Museum when I was in Japan and even though they strictly limit tickets, the book area was crowded but the shop in the museum was so packed that I couldn't even see most of the things they were selling. It's always a shame for the fans especially children who end up more frightened being packed in. At least with Ghibli the merchandise is outsourced to retail stores just for their stuff elsewhere (as least in Korea, we have a shop called ani-land thats mostly Ghibli stuff) but I was surprised they didn't have the shop outside of the museum as a separate retail area since the rest of the museum was quite relaxing. When I was back in London I treated my family and my wife's to the Harry Potter tour and their gift shop, even though it was busy, was spacious enough that it wasn't too bad. They had a separate till just for the wands as well to help spread the crowds. I don't understand why if J.K. really wants to keep the atmosphere in Hogwarts, she can't just let them put another shop just outside the area. London store London store wand area
  6. Decided to look on the AT facebook page and see what kind of comments people were leaving. This seems to be the copy/pasted reply from the PR team.
  7. I'm surprised to see Sub-terra closed so soon after it was installed, even if it did seem to get mediocre reviews.
  8. Eagles Fortress's Replacement for 2017: Panda's are coming in 2016 and the it's a small world knock-off is also getting a retheme/replacement.
  9. Any chance you could move the last 5 posts out of this topic into the discussion thread without losing the TR? http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1634280#p1634280 They are the most recent news and unlike my other threads, where the news is many Korean parks, these are only related to Everland so they might be better off away from my negative TR. Thanks for the discussion thread, I duplicated some photos from my TR to the thread for those who are interested in Eagles Fortress's fate but not a whole TR, I hope that's ok.
  10. Everland will retire their Madagascar attraction next week, at the time when I took that picture it was assumed that the show would just have a Christmas hiatus like last year for the christmas show with new mascots but the park have been advertising on the app and blogs that Madagascar is leaving for good: Adieu Madagascar Everland managers have been finalizing the agreements for the pandas coming in 2016. Link In anticipation, it seems the panda that is posted all over the construction wall will become a 6th mascot for the park. Panda merchandise has started to go on sale and the character has appeared on opsters with the other 5 characters. Link Also adorable baby cheetahs
  11. Possibly? Let me take a look at how much info we have in various threads about Everland and see if I can pull something together, give me a few days. I post Everland news quite regularly on the end of my TR's and it ends up being me talking to myself. I dread to think what will happen if you pull them together, it'll be the Garet talks to himself discussion thread.
  12. They were using GearVR headsets, which are a Samsung/Oculus (or technically a Samsung/Facebook) joint venture. I think those are also the ones Everland installed as part of their new attraction. Would make sense considering Samsung own Everland.
  13. Maybe it's just being a kindergarten/elementary teacher in Asia but I had quite a few students who were fans of the Golden Mickeys or it was one of their bigger memories coming back. I've mentioned before my wife's favorite Disney is Hong Kong and I have a few parents who prefer Hong Kong just because as the parents of little children who are more GP than enthusiasts, they are happy to sacrifice quality for a quieter park where they can walk up to most princesses and have a picture within 15 minutes or lines for the most part are 1/4 of what they can be at Tokyo as well as not needing a lottery to catch the shows and walking straight up to parades. I know for the kids (my kids are around 5-11) it was mainly about seeing characters they recognized with music, they didn't care about the story connecting it at all so Golden Mickeys was perfect for them. I think out of the Golden Mickeys they were really happy to see Stitch, Toy Story, Belle & Ariel (most of them haven't seen those last two but they know under the sea or know the princesses from clothes and merchandise.) Those characters have stuck in the kid's minds. I've shown kids the golden mickeys before on youtube and it can mostly hold their attention so I tried to show some of my kids bits of this at lunch in the background and though Olaf got their attention when he popped back up they really drifted off for the Jungle Book (maybe once the remake is released that will change) and the Princess and the Frog parts. I don't think Brave really caught on here either. They had no idea that the genie was singing and it was Aladdin. However, they were very happy when Rapunzel came up and of course Frozen got everyone's attention. Obviously a video doesn't do it justice compared to being there but it'll be interesting to see how it goes down. I personally wasn't a big fan of the Golden Mickeys either. Regardless I'm sure once Let it Go starts up that will be the only thing the children will talk about at the curtain down anyway. Perhaps they could have just stuck a sisterly love award on the end of the Golden Mickeys Not that anyone ever won at the Golden Mickeys
  14. *Sees the triotech hands-free shooting ride and remembers Lotte World has a lot of screen-based rides, dark rides, and seems to collect shooting rides. Assumes it's coming 2017/2018* *Sees the Intamin tower simulator ride and remembers Lotte World has a lot of screen-based rides, dark rides and seems to collect intamin (they do seem to have a lot from the catalogue ) Really hopes it's coming 2017/2018* In all seriousness though, that looks like it would work really well at Lotte World. With them having to add scream shields to Gyro Drop and Gyro Swing and Atlantis being mostly enclosed, it seems noise is a big issue with the apartments so close (one of the priciest areas in the capital) and they've spent the last 5 years adding shooting rides/simulators as new additions, a enclosed ride like that themed to a tower on the Atlantis building or something similar would work well, enclosing it would work with the limitations they have and it's similar enough to what they already have while being different enough to provide something new.
  15. they had to find SOME way to write the actress back in, and to explain where she disappeared to. having her trapped in Enchanted Forest?. . that's a great way to fill in blanks, and get her back into the show (now that her other show is cancelled). and they absolutely are setting her up to be in a couple with Mulan (note her comment about only having had "one boyfriend"). Or for other actors with non-cancelled shows, have Regina pick on their hairstyles.
  16. And the one existing copy has been just a trax for the last few years.
  17. This season been hit and miss for me, maybe because I was really not a fan of Brave so there will be an episode I quite enjoyed and then along comes Merida for another episodes focus and more mentions or happenings of the bear magic and I'll groan and drift off. One thing that still bugs me after the spin-off is why they had Will as a regular last season, his story just never seemed to go anywhere and leaves some unanswered questions between him being on the main show after the way the spin-off ended. Hopefully that gets addressed and he doesn't become another Libby.
  18. Yea sorry ahold have been more clear I got my timezones a bit mixed up
  19. The park will be closed tomorrow due to the Paris terrorist attacks according to the bbc live updates
  20. Source and more pics on Made in USJ twitter Wow that curve and twist There's an empty footer in the water I thought maybe it would curve back up like a half loop but then wouldn't the footer be further into the water as in closer to the JP boat ride? This layout looks incredible so far. If only this could be miraculously open for my February trip.
  21. I feel like this happens a lot at Japanese parks, I've always been unlucky with my trips to TDS and the lines are around 3-4 hours long until the very end. On one trip where I was there late, I found a few lines closed after the end of fantasmic, I guess they didn't want the crowds pouring into the lines that were still at over 2 hours in length.
  22. I rode it last year and it definitely is static apart from turning.
