Great photos and video, you are lucky you managed to get on the studio tour/king kong becasue if you had waited another day the thing wouldn't have been there, that must feel weird. Anyways great trip report!

Looks like it should be good with all the inside/outside sections of the ride. I reserve my judgement until some real 3D renderings of the ride are shown though.

Flamingo Land, UK Build the wooden coaster they have been thinking about for the past 3 years (make it like Balder) Get rid of atleast one vekoma and replace in=t with a nice smooth B&B or Intamin. Put a film on at the 4-D cinema that doesn't suck! Get a fast pass system that doesn't involve wasting your phone credit/ text's Build a spinning coaster, they are awsome! Alton Towers, UK Stop doing completely stupid marketing stunts like banning PDA's! Build a woody like they were also going to do!

I fthis is anything like Kanonen then this should be an awsome ride packed with some air time and inversions, maybe some nice high banked curves too. I've always thought the compact accelerator's were the best so if they have good operations this coaster could be a winner. And yes larrygator it is really ironic that the smallest accelerator is going to be at land of the giants. Should be great though, if its not like Gardaland!

Its really sad when cool rides like that set on fire but that kind of thing happenes sometimes. Hopfully any damage done can be fixed.

The design and compactness (is that a word) of this coaster really remainds me of Flashback that used to be at Magic Mountain ( http://www.rcdb.com/id128.htm ). The thing that worries me is that it may just turn out as pointless as the screamin squirrel.

Sure its good publicity but it could stop people going to the park if they want to use a PDA, very clever idea though espicaly if they get rid of the rule because that will make even more free publicity.

Looks like you guys had a great time, that wooden coaster in the carts looks real messed up though.

That's funny but that should really be done for Gardaland in Italy because so much is bad about it!

I have to agree with you there I hate listening to loud people having pointless conversations and its made worse when they have to speak over the coasters but a PDA can be used for both calling and texting so if you simply want to text someone simply about a place to meet and you want to do it at Alton Towers you have a problem. coasterbill I also completly agree with you, this could stop people from going to the park.

So I thought is would make sense to do a U.K. park so here goes... Flamingo Land Resort, North Yorkshire, UK Park Management -Do Velocity and Kumali first as these rides get the longest queue, if it is a hot summers day you should also get the water rides (Splash Battle and Lost River Ride) out of the way early, during lunch or at the end of the day as these will be busy. -A weird fast pass system involving using your phone to text the system is also available for £5 per person but is not needed unless you find the park to be very busy. -There are no real lockers in the park but to be honest it is a small park and lockers are not needed. -Unfortunately this park does not offer single rider lines but they are not needed. Best Time to Go to the Park -This park is never that busy and queues from the 2 'main' coasters never really go over one hour so any time of the year should do. -If you do want to avoid the crowds just don't go on a day that is both a weekend and a public holiday. Food Recommendations -There are no real known food brands at the park and the menu is almost the same everywhere so just eat where its not busy and as always don't eat when everyone else is between 12 and 1. Ride Recommendations Rides to do: -Kumali - A ccustomvekoma SLC but probably one f the best SLC's out there. -Velocity - A 55mph vekoma moterbike launch coaster which is a fun and different eexperience -There are lots of other fun rides but they can be found at other parks too! Rides to avoid: -Unless you want the credit so badly I would avoid Corkscrew. I would also avoid Sky Flyer which is just damn painful! Places to stay -The park has a full caravan/holiday home park with pool, shop and it is right next to the park! Things to do Besides the Park -The park is situated near York a city with shops, bars and a viking museum if you are sad like that. -It is also near Scarborough a seaside town with beach, speedboats, golf and a rubbish fair. -Another hour away is theme park Lightwater Valley

I have to say that park looked very interesting... I was kind of shocked that the kids drop tower thing had saddels to sit on and this park operation wise didn't seem good at all. Its also kind of sad when the best ride in the park was a pre design zamperla. great pictures though mate and a great trip report!

I get where your coming from there butsometimes people need to get in contact with each other if they loose someone or are organising to meet up, or even talking about a way in which they can have more 'fun'. People still need to use phones if they are in a theme park. Also thanks to 'ginzo' for adding more to this thread!

Im not too sure about this ride, hopefuly there won't be a 4ft peiece of metal flying off it though!

Looks like you guys had an awsome campout and it looks like the fire and music adds a lot to the experience, now if only I could get there to ride it...

Alton Towers Theme Park in the UK have decided to ban adults from using their PDA's while in the park so they can have more fun with their kids. It is a temporary rule for this weeks half term break but if it goes well could become permanent. To top it all off if you are seen using a PDA at the park it confiscated by special wardens (fake police). I don't know what you guys think but in my opinion this is mad, they can't take your PDA from you, the park is embarrassing it's self!

Im shocked they have a TOGO at Kings Dominion, I expected better.
