  1. I think people only need to look at parks like Blackpool and realize that NO PARK has expansion issues if they really want to add something new. Just look at all the parks that people have said "They have no room" that have added MAJOR expansions. People said the EXACT same thing right before Mantis, Millennium Force, and TTD was built at Cedar Point. Look at Silver Bullet at Knott's, look at all those awesome parking lot coasters at Six Flags! Then you obviously haven't been to some parks with rides that have coasters that go over other rides. Blackpool, again, is another example of this. So is Phantasialand and Europa Park. They all have rides where the supports go through other rides, and they are themed so you don't even notice them. DCA has themed Screamin's supports so they look like they are part of the midway games. Buffalo Bills painted the coaster supports like the rest of the interior so you don't notice they are part of the ride. Do me a favor....go to those parks, then come back and claim it can't be done. While IMO, I don't think they would ever have a ride go over the Spiderman building, it's absolutely possible and no one would notice. --Robb
  2. See...I dunno....I think that's kind of a lame excuse to "stop eating someplace." Would you stop going on Superman: Ride of Steel because someone died on it? Do you not fly on airplanes because some of them have crashed? Do you not drive a car because there are accidents on the interstate? If you don't like the food, that's one thing, but to stop eating someplace because they had a mishap, IMO, that's really stupid. --Robb
  3. Do you have Paint that comes with Windows XP? That should work, shouldn't it? Check under "Start Menu" -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint --Robb
  4. ^ Yes, please! We are the official "Coaster Enthusaist" scapegoat for everything. --Robb
  5. http://www.trojangames.co.uk/ Click on "Video Highlights" and be prepared to LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF!!!! This has go to be one of the funniest damn things I've EVER seen!!!! Why can't we get cool commericals like this in the US? I can't decide which one I like more - weightlifting or vaulting. --Robb
  6. Just so everyone knows it's real, here is the story: Wendy's diner finds human finger in her chili http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/03/24/FINGER.TMP And in other related news: Wendy's Enhances Combo Meal Program To Give Consumers More Choices http://www.wendys.com/news/2004/1206.shtml However, I agree with Dave Thomas (the guy who posts here, not the dead Wendy's guy) that this is just a marketing gimmick for new food options! --Robb "Hey...maybe it was Dave Thomas' finger!" 7. I"m scared of large gorrillas throwing barrels at me!!!
  8. LOL! We just responded to this on CB! Here's what was written: Everything is our fault! Nice TR, BTW.
  9. How much extra did she have to pay? --Robb "Sounds like it's an extra value menu item to me." Alvey
  10. Overall, it never seems as thought Stand Ups were very popular with the GP. They are fairly gimmicky, lower capacity, slightly uncomfortable, and never seem to be the 'favorite' of any park they are at. --Robb
  11. ^ I dunno, really...I've been reading the site since it first started and I think we just met at some point somewhere and we both realized our sites, while similar is many ways, also had a lot to offer each other. Ever since then we've just hung out with some of the people who started the site. Sorry the story isn't more interesting! --Robb
  12. ^ I'm not really sure what you mean.
  13. Other than not putting a question mark after your question and then posting 10 minutes later asking someone to respond to your post, you did ok. --Robb "Just don't do those two things again and all is good!" Alvey
  14. Blue Fall is 351 feet tall: http://www.rcdb.com/qs.htm?quicksearch=sea+paradise Not that the extra 25ish feet probably makes THAT big of a difference!
  15. Westcoaster was founded by Jim, Dan and Andrew. You should probably direct this question towards them: http://www.westcoaster.net/ There really isn't any 'credentials' to become a 'member' because it's not really a 'club' so to speak. --Robb "I hope this helps!" Alvey

I shoot all year. But it depends on the park. If I'm only at a park one day, then I only shoot that day. On average, I only shoot about 30-45 minutes of raw footage per segment that ends up on the DVDs. I think it's almost impossible to quantify how it's done in one post. What you need to do is research how video editing is done, then come back and ask some more specific questions. --Robb
  19. I saw this site: http://www.funnyname.com/ And I was LMAO!!!! "Mammoth Erections!!!" LOL!!!!!
  20. "SPAMITY CALAMITY!!!!!" --Robb "I love that commercial" Alvey
  21. ^ And I actually really, really like your website a lot. If it doesn't already have a strong following, I hope it finds it's audience soon! --Robb "Teds MUCH better at website design than I'll ever be!" Alvey

Wow...that's a lot to answer. I'm not sure if it's something you can just type a couple of sentances to answer. You need to use the right editing software, and it's something you just have to have an 'eye' for. Not everyone can be a video editor. But here's a couple of links to get you started: http://desktopvideo.about.com/od/editing/
  23. ^ When the time is right I'll send out an email to people to get an idea of what people like and dislike about the boards. Personally, I like fewer forums so it doesn't dilute the focus of the overall boards. However, if it's needed, then we would do it. But I can honestly say that having seperate boards for different parks or park chains "Disney parks" "Six Flags Parks" etc is something we probably wouldn't do. While doing my research, I've found that some of the most popular boards have as few as 1 forum for discussions. It's simple, it's easy, and people know that if they want to discuss parks and coasters, they only need to look in one place. Now, if we stated having more discussions about video games, politics, etc, then maybe I'd open up a forum for those, but then again, that's not what Theme Park Review is about. I always say it will be something that will evolve over time. It's been a fairly sucessful forumla for the site overall, but I do want to get as much feedback from everyone as possible! --Robb
  24. LOL! No, not at all! It was funny looking back on the old site files. Maybe I'll do a 'flashback' site for the 10th anniversary of Theme Park Review next year or something.... --Robb
  25. I also want to add that a lot of people have this misconception that "if you put up a website, people will come." Websites take a LONG time to gain popularity and an installed base of users. Especially now since websites are fairly easy to create and are less expensive than they were 10 years ago. Theme Park Review, for example, started as just a place for me to post some photos of my trips to share with friends and family. That was in 1996. I don't have an archive of my original webpage, but I did find a few pages from an early 1997 backup. It looked something like this: http://www.themeparkreview.com/tpr1997/ As you can see, over nearly 10 years, it's grown QUITE a bit! Don't expect an overnight success. It takes MANY years to build up relationships with parks and members, and in such a crowded market these days, you need to be able to offer something different, or at least offer GOOD content to draw people in. I hope this is some good advice! --Robb "Who here remembers the Guess The Neon Coaster quiz that part of the original Theme Park Review site?" Alvey
