  1. Ok everyone, So for the most part, the chat room is DONE!!! I've updated the color scheme to match the fourms as close as possible. I've updated the Information and About screens. I've changed some of the smiley codes to make them easier to use. Anything else? Please give me as much feedback as possible...so unles anyone has any negative feedback...the chat room is OPEN!!!!! --Robb "I hope everyone likes it!" Alvey
  2. The new colors SHOULD look like this...if it doesn't work for you please let me know! You might have to refresh your browser for the new changes to take place. --Robb
  3. Hey everyone, In an effort to match the colors of the chat to the colors of the forum, can you all go in and have a look and see if the color scheme works ok? Thanks. --Robb
  4. Wow, that's a really tough call. Here's my dilema. When I first started this 'coastering hobby' I really, REALLY liked wooden coasters a LOT! They were the BEST! My top list in 1995 - 1998 was something like this: Phoenix Ghostrider (dropped off my current favorite list) Shivering Timbers (dropped off my current favorite list) Timber Wolf (dropped off my current favorite list) Tonerre De Zeus (dropped off my current favorite list) Grand National Wildcat (dropped off my current favorite list) Great White (dropped off my current favorite list) Megafobia (dropped off my current favorite list) Raven Timber Terror Texas Giant (dropped off my current favorite list) Since then, many of these rides have dropped WAY down on my list and the invention of the "Hyper Coaster" became more popular. On top of that, steel coasters have gone beyond the "inversion after inversion after inversion" model of the late 80s and early 90s, and I far more enjoy steel coasters now than I did 10 years ago. So when I look at my overall "favorite" coasters, while there is still a woodie near the top, I would rather ride my favorite steel coasters over wooden coasters anyday: Expedition GeForce Superman: Ride of Steel (SFNE) Superman: Ride of Steel (SFA) Phoenix Dueling Dragons Kumba Viper (SFGam) Raven Goliath (Walibi World) Montu Batman & Robin: The Chiller Mr. Freeze Storm Runner XLR8R Millennium Force Grand National Timber Terror So yeah, while the woodies IMO ruled the 80s and 90s, the lack of really good woodies today due to poor maintenance, has made my vote swing to steel coasters over wood. --Robb "Who hopes that some of those ex-top ten wood coasters can return to their former glory someday..." 5. So I think I'll start a new thread about asking for themes. I do think we should keep it somewhat coaster, park, or TPR related to stay in theme with the site. Personally, I think it would be funny to do some based on our users and put all those photos to better use! For example: "Supercrack last seen at....." And see how many bizarre places Gregg can visit! I'll post a suggestion thread in a little while. --Robb
  6. New videos have been added!!!! Personally, you should check out "Best Movie Ever" for the 'shameless attempt at winning the contest.' And if you want to see a good coaster footage video, check out "Vertigo!" All of this week's entries rock, download them, and post your thoughts! http://www.themeparkreview.com/contest2005/contest2005.htm --Robb
  7. Ok, so I have declared Wes the winner! He was awared his "Spaced" Box Set on Saturday's BBQ. Congrats Wes! I have added some of the avatars to the gallary so they will live on forever. Now the next question - is this something you guys want to do again? --Robb

  9. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Hong Kong Disneyland, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Official Park Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. 10. I know that some cast members have ridden it already, and I have "heard" July 1st for soft openings.....but nothing is official. --Robb
  11. ^ Haha! Nice! If it were up to me, there would ALWAYS be a rodent living in our house! Nice names, anything coaster related is always good. Double names are always interesting to come up with: Lion and Tiger (Gwazi) Fire and Ice (obvious) Walter and Claude B and M Sandor and...um....Sandor? Anything else? --Robb "Just a few other ideas..." Alvey
  12. Hey Jonathan! Thanks for posting the TR's! Sounds like you guys are having a good 'old time! Feel free to post links to any photo updates you want! I love being able to follow people while they are on trips. We can all live vicariously through your trip. --Robb
  13. Anyone else think it looks like Sam is getting a bit of action in this pic: "Lower....point the camera a little lower!" --Robb
  14. Hey there everyone! Tonight at 7pm PDT I'd like to conduct a test of the Theme Park Review chat system. Please jump in around 7pm and let's see what happens when we get as many users as possible in there! --Robb "I hope we survive!" Alvey
  15. That link doesn't work for me. --Robb
  16. ^ Awesome! I'm totally wiped out right now! In total throughout all the meets we had about 35 people, which IMO is great for our first meet! SFHH, for whatever reason was empty, and we got on everything mutiple times. SFMM, on the other hand, was not, but it was more about hanging out with friends on meeting new people. We did the 'flat ride tour' then rode Colossus together, some people split off and did the single riders line of Deja Vu, and there were enough "Premium Pass Holders" to get fastlanes to share with everyone, and most people took a ride on Goliath and Scream! So even with the huge crowds we got some coaster riding in! The BBQ, at least IMO was fun! The hot wings seem to go over well. People seemed to be a bit unsure about the "Guess which coaster I am" game, but once people got into it, there was a LOT of comotion going on about it! I still can't believe how many people packed the movie theater to watch Japan-A-Mania and More! I thought for sure EVERYONE had seen it already. Taiko No Tatsujin (the drum game) was a hit although I didn't even get to play! =( We handed out a bunch of prizes to the winners of our silly games and no one went home empty handed. I think almost everyone got a Vekoma Boomerang! Anyway, I'll post some pics later on this week after we get our photos from the water cam back. Thanks again to everyone who could make it, and we look forward to doing this again, probably in September! I look forward to seeing everyone else's TR from yesterday. --Robb "Full BBQ update from us coming soon!" Alvey
  17. ^ Hmm...not sure if it's a personal option or not, but I know when I get a PM, I get a little window that says "You have a PM...do you want to read it in this window?" Although I know if I have my pop-up blocker on, I don't get those. --Robb "Those are the ONLY pop-ups you will see on Theme Park Review!" Alvey
  18. This chat mod will also allow you to see who is chatting. On the front page under "Who is Online" you can get a list of everyone chatting. While you are in the chatroom you can also invite people by using this command: /invite robbalvey That will send a PM to username "robbalvey" to come in and join that chat. What do you all think? --Robb
  19. Ok, so I've just updated the version of the chat to a Java chat room. There is a link Above (look up) that says "chat". CLICK IT!!!! Let us know what you think. --Robb "Once I get a chat mod that's functional, then I'll make it pretty!" Alvey
  20. Hey everyone! I'm in the process of seeing which of several 'chat mods' could work for having a live chat on the boards. I've set up a test mod right now, which should work if you click on this link: *CLICK THE CHAT BUTTON BELOW THE TPR BANNER* I'm looking for the following feedback: Does this chat mod lag? How is it effecting the rest of the boards? What errors are you having? Do you like this mod and the idea of having a live chat? Ok, so far that's it...see you in the chat room and please give us as much feecback as possible. If this chat mod sucks, please tell us!!! --Robb
  21. ^^ Yeah, but Don, your SFOG video didn't have your awesome Ron Howard ending! Had to made a video showing 3 minutes of grass growing, then that Ron Howard ending, we would have still chosen that one!!! It's hard to pick which videos go up on the site. There are so many good ones, and this year, I think only a couple of people ended up getting more than one video entry through. Most of those were also people who submitted last year. Anyway, the Ron Howard bit was a great capper for that video, which is why we chose it! --Robb "And don't worry...there are MORE Florida videos still coming!" Alvey

    WaterCam

^ That's because that was not our "water cam rig" that was our "protect the camera from the Typhoon with whatever we have handy" rig. --Robb "We can't give away ALL our secrets!" Alvey
  23. I'm not sure how to take this article. On one hand it's really positive, on the other hand it just basically says "We now have to make seats bigger because people are fatter..." Hmmm.... http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=4618967
  24. ^ That one is really great! But unfortunatley a little late. Leave it up as your avatar and I might put it in the gallery! --Robb
