  1. wow! Talk about blast from the past. I had barely heard about this park, but apparently they got all the rides from the old Enchanted Forest in Porter, IN. My grandmother used to take me to that park all the time when I was a little kid. I actually rode that Toboggan in its original season at Enchanted Forest. Crazy to see it (and the madmouse and kiddie coaster) still operating. Thanks for the updates!
  2. F-ing hot in Atlanta right now. But, it's that way across the south. It's too hot to sit by the pool tomorrow, sadly.
  3. $3625. You damn, young whippersnappers just wait... or sell your body now and get the premium.
  4. Man, I really miss that ride. It's deceptive just how great a roller coaster that is in a small package.
  5. updating that to Thunderhead at Dollywood. GREAT ride! The rest were a little so-so, but this one is top notch.
  6. Space Mountain at WDW... Until Thursday when I make my first trip to Dollywood.
  7. It is sad to see all of it. When I was at Vandy, I would go over there a couple times a year, too. Most of my friends with me didn't realize why I would pause near those rocks. It's a shame the park was lost, especially since the new management at Gaylord pretty much made it clear that closing the park was a bad move and they don't knwo the motivation behind it. With all the space, I really can't believe they haven't really looked at putting a park in around the mall. I think a parking structure, shuttle, etc. could make for a very workable solution with all three segments. But, that's their call. It was a great park that my family loved when I was a kid.
  8. Looks like you guys had fun. I haven't been to Dollywood, but I think my family and I are meeting up their for a brief vacation in August. I'll have to look for the showers and the coffin.
  9. Little ones, gotta go classic with the tilt-a-whirl (assuming you have that great balance of weight in the car) Big ones, tie between a Giant Frisbee or an SS Tower.
  10. It's my weemee (www.weeworld.com - I was really bored). It's got the city since I just moved to the city, sushi because I have sadly become a yuppie-ish foodie in my old age, and books because I am sadly studying for the bar all summer. Yeah... that's about it.
  11. Let's see... Alabama Arkansas California Colorado Connecticut Delaware Florida* Georgia* Illinois Indiana* Kentucky Louisiana Maryland Massachussetts Michigan Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Nevada New Hampshire New Jersey New York North Carolina Ohio Oklahoma Pennsylvania* Rhode Island South Carolina Tennessee* Texas Vermont Virginia Wisconcin * means I lived there.
  12. Yep. Every attraction and/or area has its own closing procedures. That goes for both on stage and backstage areas. ALthough, when it comes down to it, people are around the parks almost 24-7 doing work. So, the parks don't really "close" as in no one is there for much time, if at all, for a given day. It can be quite strange when the lights are up, power washers are around, and you have a parade staff training at 4 AM.
  13. ha ha. This DEFINES random, random, random. As for me, I have to go with Peanut Butter, then Pumpkin, then Key Lime (with a meringue, though, not whipped cream).
  14. yes, although fairly new addition to the diet Do you always keep your hands and arms inside the cars at all times?
  15. While I agree in theory, "stuff happens" is a bit different when you've invited someone to use something and an accident like that happens in normal course of riding. I am a bit puzzled as to how it happened, too, but 23 stitches is a bit beyond what one would normally encounter. I am waiting on my opinion until we get some more facts. Also, just to qualm a bit of fear people are throwing out, the outcome of this will likely be settlement because the legal fees for this will be much greater than any damages the family could receive. This isn't horrendous conduct; it is at most negligence. So, all they would likely get would be medical expenses and maybe a little bit for pain and suffering (but very minor since kids get bonked and banged all the time - and they have no lost income or down time over the summer). Don't worry. This almost certainly will not be some multi-thousand dollar case unless some pretty strong facts emerge. I would expect it gets settled soon.
  16. Just a few things: 1. If you are even thinking about filing a law suit, don't post anything on a web board (or even send emails for that matter). They are wonderful pieces of evidence and can likely be used to impeach your testimony quickly. 2. This is an odd situation. On one hand, I agree that there is a proper way to ride. However, as noted, there is a significant risk that someone may lose their grip on a handle or that two small children would ride alone. Therefore, whether it is ProSlide or SF's policy, these are foreseeable events. For a child to suffer stitches-worthy injuries while riding the slide normally or even without holding on, that goes beyond expectation. I do think there may be some products liability issues with that. Oddly, though, it seems the case (from the info provided) is centering on negligence by the operators. Odd to say the least, and I will be interested to see how it comes out.
  17. I will admit that it looked nice at night. But, it just didn't fit and looked TERRIBLE during the day. Here's to hoping SSE gets some great new lighting effects.
  18. Hmmm... Let's see Cedar Point: Disaster Transport Wicked Twister TTD Magnum Mean Streak Millenium Force PKI: Top Gun Son of Beast Italian Job SFGAm: Raging Bull Viper Opryland: Midnight Chaos BGT: Montu Disney: Expedition Everest Primeival Whirl
  19. ^^^ I'm feeling you on the 25 part. Anyway, my first coaster was the Jr. Gemini at Cedar Point. But the first one I remember was Python at BGT (followed shortly by BTMRR and SM at WDW).
  20. Just added myself, too. Recently moved to Atlanta by way of South Bend, IN, Greencastle, IN, and Nashville, TN. Any other Georgians lurking about?
  21. First full length feature film was Snow White. How was Spaceship Earth designed as the first geosphere (i.e. how did they make it an entire sphere)?
  22. My "home" parks were Cedar Point and SF GrAm. But, now that I am older, wiser, and no longer "home". My park would have been OpryLand , but I will go with SFoG since I will be moving to Atlanta in May.
  23. There is also another behavior that only MALE cats do that has not been highlighted. Perhaps we will spin and mark our territory/be marked as territory...
  24. OH. HELL. YEAH. Go Horse! I do wish the weather would have been better. When the rain let up those few spots, it was a great game. Both teams were actually playing, and it was fun to watch them square off. But, the weather really screwed things up on the field. But, COLTS WIN.
  25. um... hasn't everyone been to EPCOT Center?
