Favorite first drop on a Steel Coaster
coasterboy76 replied to SpectralN's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thats Easy for me, Raging Bull's first drop is so incredible! I look foward to riding it every year.. -
I have been to MM several times, the first few were great! the latter visits werent so fun, long wait times, several things broken down, what really got me was the Riddlers revenge, the first few times I rode that, smooooth as can be. the last time I rode it, omg it had gotten rough. I also noticed that the crowds were getting a little rougher too. saw too many kids messing with people, and being pretty obnoxious. However, even with those last few bad visits,it would be sad if they closed MM down.

and great photos! thanks for posting them.

the first time I rode Shockwave, I really enjoyed the ride, but it seems like each year after that, it got worse and worse--still I was sad to see it go, I liked the way the first drop looked in the skyline of the park. but alas bigger and better things come along! -

Scary POV video
coasterboy76 replied to kelmikey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
the little fat kid wasn't going to go anywhere, he just had the crap scared out of him. that other one was bad though, these parents really need to pay attention to those hight restrictions, if they don't have them, then by golly they need to use smart sense--"hmm is my kid as big as those kids?" -

Great Shots, I actually miss Shockwave! I have been going out to SFGAM every year for about 12 years now, so I missed the "Tidal Wave" where exactly in the park was that at? was it where Batman the ride is? and here is a shot of The Whizzer... -

Great retro TR! some great pics, like the ones especially of the Screamin' Eagle! i agree with you about the black paint job (the ninja) has now, it doesnt look as good. especially considering you can see the red coming through where they painted it black. -

yeah we had some cool rides then, the hanibarrel ride (drunken barrel ride) was fun, The SkyWay ws really cool too, and it came in handy for getting from one side of the park to the other. The River King Mine Train is still fun, I try to ride it every time I go to the park. I remember the old track like it was yesterday, I liked it alot because it left the station, then entered the storage building for the other trains, I remeber this part because it was always customary to yell when you went through the storage station. when I came across the folder the other day that held these photos, I tried remembering the ride on the Mine train as it compared to the present one by trying to put the ride togetether with the pictures. I was able to see a video of the coaster in action today, at it was weird seeing the ride. once I saw the track section after the second lift hill it all came back to me. -

I remember as a kid riding that back and forth across the park, it made such a difference getting from one side of the park to the other. was always uneasy on it when ever it would go across a tower, the car would kind of rattle, and shake as the wheels made contact. I really don't think I would ride one now, I mean think about it a car thats holding on to a cable by a small set of wheels....not to comforting to think about..... -

unfortunatly, ours was removed because one of the cars fell from the top tower back in July of 78--the drop killed 3 people and injured one other. -

Thanks... and yes, the parks were NICER back then.. and it was like that all during my youth at the park, till around the mid 80's, and then the park started getting some rough edges. Back then we actually had people that went around all day and did nothing but sweep up trash, when I worked there, they were called gophers. and they did a great job of keeping the park neat. and believe it or not, when I was growing up. walls didn't get covered with gum like they do nowdays....gross! -
