  1. the publicity is great for Six Flags--lol I wouldnt eat one though--blech!
  2. Thats a real shame that the park looks like it does and the problem with the employees is bad is well, the few times I went up there, were great, all the rides were working, even flashback. hope things get better, it really would be the end of a era if Magic Mountain closed, you know what I mean...
  3. I havent recreated it in the games, but I do always look at pictures and videos of it.. why I even have asked people for specific requests for videos of it, but they never reply back.. The Mindbender at Six Flags over Georgia.. first time I saw that vertcal helix, I was hooked on it.
  4. Thats Easy for me, Raging Bull's first drop is so incredible! I look foward to riding it every year..
  5. I have been to MM several times, the first few were great! the latter visits werent so fun, long wait times, several things broken down, what really got me was the Riddlers revenge, the first few times I rode that, smooooth as can be. the last time I rode it, omg it had gotten rough. I also noticed that the crowds were getting a little rougher too. saw too many kids messing with people, and being pretty obnoxious. However, even with those last few bad visits,it would be sad if they closed MM down.
  6. then moved from Dollywood to Magic Springs as Big Bad John!
  7. the first time I rode Shockwave, I really enjoyed the ride, but it seems like each year after that, it got worse and worse--still I was sad to see it go, I liked the way the first drop looked in the skyline of the park. but alas bigger and better things come along!
  8. the little fat kid wasn't going to go anywhere, he just had the crap scared out of him. that other one was bad though, these parents really need to pay attention to those hight restrictions, if they don't have them, then by golly they need to use smart sense--"hmm is my kid as big as those kids?"
  9. Great Shots, I actually miss Shockwave! I have been going out to SFGAM every year for about 12 years now, so I missed the "Tidal Wave" where exactly in the park was that at? was it where Batman the ride is? and here is a shot of The Whizzer...
  10. Great retro TR! some great pics, like the ones especially of the Screamin' Eagle! i agree with you about the black paint job (the ninja) has now, it doesnt look as good. especially considering you can see the red coming through where they painted it black.
  11. yeah we had some cool rides then, the hanibarrel ride (drunken barrel ride) was fun, The SkyWay ws really cool too, and it came in handy for getting from one side of the park to the other. The River King Mine Train is still fun, I try to ride it every time I go to the park. I remember the old track like it was yesterday, I liked it alot because it left the station, then entered the storage building for the other trains, I remeber this part because it was always customary to yell when you went through the storage station. when I came across the folder the other day that held these photos, I tried remembering the ride on the Mine train as it compared to the present one by trying to put the ride togetether with the pictures. I was able to see a video of the coaster in action today, at it was weird seeing the ride. once I saw the track section after the second lift hill it all came back to me.
  12. I honestly can't remember where I got those shots from, I have had them for so long now, I have kept them in my "dont delete" file....
  13. I remember as a kid riding that back and forth across the park, it made such a difference getting from one side of the park to the other. was always uneasy on it when ever it would go across a tower, the car would kind of rattle, and shake as the wheels made contact. I really don't think I would ride one now, I mean think about it a car thats holding on to a cable by a small set of wheels....not to comforting to think about.....
  14. unfortunatly, ours was removed because one of the cars fell from the top tower back in July of 78--the drop killed 3 people and injured one other.
  15. I posted those pics of Worlds of Fun just as an added bonus, so please don't reply with " those are not at six flags" because I know they arent...lol had to cover my butt you know... Ejoy!
  16. holy crap!!! There are some great shots there! thanks for posting that link... Might as well add some more to the thread, these were the rest from earlier that I mentioned were going to get posted... and since this is a thread about old shots, there are 3 bonus shots, not from Six Flags... Thats all the Pics for now, Enjoy them everyone!! And Speaking of the "Orient Express" brochure the year the orient express made its debute! coming round the corkscrew! the seven story high double upsidedown Screamroller! The Jetscream in action! The Jetscream! description of the Jetscream from the brochure.. the moon antique cars back in the day. ah yes, we cant forget goodtime hollow! another view of the park from the Skyway this is the pin they were passing out the first season the Eagle was open one of my favorite shots of the Eagle coming down the first drop this is a shot of the back of that same booklet, notice the prices for that year! OMG here is a copy of the park brochure the season the Screaming Eagle opened, spring 1976! another shot from that fun ride... "Adventures on the Mississippi" this was always a fun ride!
  17. I do have a few more, so as soon as I get a chance tommorow or later on tonight, I will try and post the rest. I have a few shots from other parks too, will try and post those as well
  18. You know I had so much fun at those old dolphin shows though, brings back lots of memories..
  19. Thanks... and yes, the parks were NICER back then.. and it was like that all during my youth at the park, till around the mid 80's, and then the park started getting some rough edges. Back then we actually had people that went around all day and did nothing but sweep up trash, when I worked there, they were called gophers. and they did a great job of keeping the park neat. and believe it or not, when I was growing up. walls didn't get covered with gum like they do nowdays....gross!
  20. Yes props are due here.....thanks for mentioning that for me! this IS where the Rail Blazer/ Jetscream pic came from.... http://www.geocities.com/Pipeline/Reef/6776/top Visit it when the page is available, its got some cool pics there. the coaster did reopen- but was switched back to the Mine train for the following season.
  21. here are a few more shots... The Jetscream Opening season 1981 The old dolphin show, wich was switched to the US diving team show, then the ever popular "Robin Hood Stunt Spectacular" veiw from the Sky Way going to the Illinois section of the park the Hoo Hoo log flume A staple at most of the Six Flags parks during the 70's - the Krofft Puppet show theatre This is the Haunted house that was at the front entrance of the park during the 80's
