  1. The Blue Streak has been relisted for August...same rules apply, and it's in 3RD PLACE!!!!! KEEP VOTING so this thing never leaves the top ten! http://www.refresheverything.com/conneautlakeparkbluestreak
  2. Don't stop! The Blue Streak is now in 17th place.
  3. If you're looking to be a credit whore, Delgrosso's will allow you to ride their Wacky Worm, which unless I'm blind has not yet been mentioned in this thread.
  4. I'll be there in August, so I can add my input then.
  5. I'm voting every day...can't wait for this to be done!
  6. I promise you that only the last row in each car is uncomfortable. I had my first ride on Sky Rocket in the back seat and was very worried because I had no room for my feet and the shin pad was extremely tight. If you ride it again soon, go for the other rows (if you can get a VIP that lets you; if not just wait in line) as they are more spacious and comfortable.
  7. Kennywood's Facebook page now has a mounted POV video. I REALLY wish I could embed this, but I can't figure out how I can or if I can, so here you go:
  8. Well, it's a moved coaster. Phoenix went up in 90 days, so that's to be expected, I guess.
  9. I wanna say that mural is on the wall behind the Pizza Hut in Irwin.
  10. I just found out I'll be visiting Dorney for the first time in August. I am definitely buying this.
  11. The uploaded has put on a second video in which the launch looks faster, and the trims at the top of the first hill are considerably toned down:
  12. ^Took the words right out of my mouth. And I'm there six days a week to work.
  13. These are very comfortable looking trains. I was able to see them earlier in person (not up close, mind you) and I'm even more excited for this ride to open! And yes, I also noticed the 'retro' style of the train. Perfect for a park like Kennywood. The front panel looks awesome. I did not see the second train on site, though, but I won't mind if they are both identical color-wise.
  14. The ascent up the hill isn't vertical, but the drop is. KPConnection hasn't officially posted the update showing the completed ride (though there is one from Sunday with the barrel roll), but I thought I'd post some teaser pics (as usual, the update will have higher resolution pics): I still think this looks a lot better in the park than a lot of people anticipated. It's a very good fit for the park, and I'm sure it will be a huge hit. Nerd shot: Copper trims at the top of the hill. They won't stop the train, but given the major height difference between this hill and the following inversion, you can see why they were installed. Work on the station commencing. Note the automatic gates are installed. While common in most amusement parks, this is the first coaster Kennywood has that will utilize them. I REALLY wanted to save this pic for the update, but I like it so much, I just had to share it. This is taken from the Giant Eagle lot above Kennywood's parking lot, and shows how prominent Sky Rocket is in the park's skyline. Except for the Skycoaster (the names of these two rides are already being confused en masse by the general public!), this is the tallest thing on this side of the park.
  15. Very nice Photo TR! You've gotten pics of new things I haven't gotten a chance to yet (though the removal of Garfield everywhere except from the top of the Pounce Bounce actually happened last year). I too enjoyed the laser show, and cannot wait until later this week when I get to go ride again! Regarding the new lights in the Auto Race station, they were installed with the intent of having a countdown sequence, obviously dispatching the car when the green lights lit. Since they clearly do not, I am unsure of whether it will just be for display or if they will try to get it to work.
  16. I don't mind if someone gets around to posting my photo before I do, but if you do, credit would be appreciated. No problems here though, but only the top hat photo was mine. Here is that photo again along with some others (the actual update with hi-res pics should hopefully be uploaded to KPConnection later): This was taken about four hours ago. It's kinda hard to tell from this angle, but it comes pretty close to being a complete inversion. Think the inclined loop on Mantis and you have a rough idea of the angle of the track here (I don't think it's as much as the cutback on Drachen Fire was though). A friend of mine had taken the other photo posted earlier, so here's one I took showing essentially the same thing. At the top of this hill is the MCBR, and from there the track will have a vertical drop down to the second half of the ride, which is essentially complete. The lower end is the exit of the barrel roll, which the train will enter immediately upon exiting the 'top hat' (as the park and Premier like to refer to it as) in the previous photo. Just a shot of the Phantom's first "riders" for 2010. I didn't get a photo of the corrected second hill, but visually, the train travels over it much more smoothly, like it did with the Arrow track (the abrupt bank was very noticeable even off-ride).
  17. As mentioned on the previous page, we have been making regular updates on KPConnection. Today we saw some TALL supports go up for the inverted top hat element, and while I didn't take as many pictures as yesterday or the day before, it's still worth a look: http://www.kpconnection.com/skcu.shtml
  18. I can confirm it is on the right as soon as you enter, about where the Turnpike exit had been. The station and exit is up by the Gran Prix, though.
  19. And if there is an over flow of people, they could just direct it down the midway to the pavilions just like the Turnpike "queue" used to.
  20. Since Kennywood has stated that it WILL be open for CoasterCon (the ACE event flyer has not been updated to reflect this), we might as well say it's a 20 day window.
  21. The first pieces of track went up today! Alongside the images from around 1 that I took and will be appearing on KPConnection soon, the park itself has pics up on Facebook from earlier this morning. I also shot footage that I will upload to Youtube and edit into this post later today.
  22. ^If they're from me (as was the one posted earlier up), you can USUALLY expect updates every 2 or 3 days; if not that, definitely once a week.
  23. Tomorrow will see the beginning of construction at last! I visited today, and here are a few interesting photos: There are two cranes at the park. The larger crane is on site. The boom is extended out but no construction yet. The other, smaller crane, along with a support trailer. These either arrived today or were loaded on today to be the first ones to go up. On the left is the start of the ascent up the first hill. Unlike the rest of the pieces that are here so far, there is a spine, probably thanks to the force of the launched train. The piece next to it is the end of the launch, and you can see how the opposite end curves upward. Once these are attached, you can sure there will be a signature "NERD SHOT" where the spine begins.
  24. As of today, the footer work is EXTREMELY close to completion. There are a total of 32 pieces of track on site; I believe there will be 57. Two cranes arrived today, so I assume we're VERY close to seeing this thing built at last!
  25. I wouldn't put a Memorial Day opening out of the question just yet... No, I don't know when the projected opening day is, but given the progress the park is now making, it sounds somewhat realistic. Having passed the park today, it looks like ALL the supports have arrived (again, I'm not sure, but the lot is full and none have arrived recently). Almost all the footers are poured with about 15% still waiting, but all seem to be at least dug. That leaves the track, which there seems to be a good portion of on-site, but it obviously isn't all there yet.
