  1. Nope. Simply a fun rumor that gives us something to talk about.
  2. 1300 PPH would be a launch every 55 seconds. Considering that even with two train ops half of that time is killed just by the next train rolling into the station after waiting for the previous train to clear the tophat, it's safe to say that's a number that will never be touched. I'd be shocked if they even pulled 500 an hour.
  3. Did they use some type of different paint on X2? It's amazing how leading into its 9th year of operation, X2 still looks brand new, but Tatsu, only 2 years older, is much worse. I'm very curious. They've used better, more expensive paint that penetrates the sun much better on everything since Tatsu. That's why Goliath and Batman (which were painted the year after in 2007) still look good as well. And Superman from 2011 still looks good too. They used bad paint on everything before that back through the 90s. Old Scream, Goliath, and X looked terrible after like 2 years after they opened. Tatsu and Riddler's Revenge still do. The paint switch was a really great decision. To my knowledge they only used the really expensive paint on X2. Most of the rides after X2 got painted as part of a corporate alliance with Sherwin-Williams (something like two rides a year and has since ended). Viper, which was painted the same time X2 was, and Goliath are starting to show off their suntan. However they are ageing with much more dignity and grace than Tatsu has. However X2, dark colors and all, still looks brand new.
  4. I'm sure Tatsu will get painted some time this century... As previously stated, Tatsu's main obstacle to getting repainted is that it's so tall over parts of the hillside that aren't easily accessible by something cheap to rent like a Genie boom lift. Scream, for example, was extremely easy to repaint because it's sitting on flat ground and isn't that tall. Just for a single weld of Tatsu's track last year (one of the track joints between the first inversion and the zero G) the park had to rent out a 40 ton Champion crane. Cranes don't come cheap. I'm honestly surprised that they didn't decide to repaint Tatsu along with Revolution since Tatsu is so clearly visible from almost every angle you look at Revolution, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. Whenever they do repaint Tatsu, they had better use the paint they used on X2, because man does X2 still look great.
  5. I need pictures! Anyway, even with no source, I hope this is the case. The all-white loop is such an iconic element that defacing it with blue would cause all sorts of uproar, and not just on TPR. But hey, they've got enough blue paint to paint it blue again after deciding that the all-white wasn't good enough I can't post pictures, sorry. I'm sure there will be various places that do construction updates tomorrow or Sunday. They have even put the frame that will hold the lights around the loop, looks pretty cool. I don't think anyone believes there's a realistic possibility the park would add a giga based on current spending habits, but a dive machine isn't exactly cheap either. Those records cost a pretty penny. And I would bet money on an Arrow leaving the park although not sure which one.
  6. So it looks like Magic Mountain changed their mind on the color of Revolution's loop, it's back to all white. Honestly I'm kind of glad it is because it just looks so classic.
  7. From what I understand and have seen, I believe they are using the same chassis from the old trains and they are fabricating parts around that (building from the ground up so to speak). Could be wildly off base, but that's what I've seen and have been lead to believe.
  8. To address this rumor 1) it's not going where the Batman Action Theater was 2) it's not going where Deja Vu was 3) Six Flags hasn't spent $20m or more on a roller coaster in a long while 4) it would more than likely have to be taller and faster than Valravn (for then records) which means a TON of $$$. 5) I doubt Magic Mountain adds another large coaster without taking one out (looking at you Viper and Ninja) which would mean no magic #20 unless of course they add a 5th kiddie coaster. The only reason I could see this rumor having legs is because it could be a very marketable ride for the park. Tallest and fastest dive coaster, the West Coast has nothing like it and people would probably eat it up. It would be a very sexy addition in the eyes of the marketing department for sure. Maybe in a year or so there will be some more potential information out there, but for now it's fun to speculate. Personally I'm holding out for a RMC T-Rex giga but that's just my optimistic fantasy...
  9. ^I do find that rather surprising considering it's a massive open secret around the park. I guess people actually do know how to keep their mouths closed and here I was thinking that everything leaks these days...
  10. Working as in less AP's are showing up at night? Or AP's don't need this distraction to lure them in and spend money? I feel as if Disney won't leave that extra revenue from food and drinks on the table and we'll see another variation of the event soon. Especially with Frozen coming this summer right next door, Hollywoodland will be more of a draw than it has been in the last few years. Frozen Fun II: REDUX anyone?!?
  11. I can't honestly say I've ever seen the waterfall at Revolution ever work. I'm assuming the entire system would have to be replaced in order for the waterfall and creek to work again and they figured it wasn't worth it. Oh well, hopefully the landscaping that goes in its place looks nice. I do wish that they start replacing some of the trees they have cut down though because they have cut down A LOT. Overall I am a fan of what they have been doing though, the front area of the park has been looking pretty shabby for a while now. I'm also interested to see what the lights in the loop end up being, perhaps a sweet LED package that does the loop justice?
  12. Wow those numbers are pretty crazy, it shows that they definitely haven't hit their price ceiling yet. Any company or any executive would be stupid to not continue raising prices after seeing those results otherwise they'd be leaving money on the table. Crazy... I honestly want to know other people's thoughts on the matter, exactly how has Disneyland become sort of this transcendent Southern California cultural phenomenon in this last half-decade? The resort's attendance has been steadily growing even while prices are increased and it gets more and more crowded. On social media (granted I'm a 20 something "millennial" with lots of 20 something "millennial" friends) I see so many people post about their various Disneyland trips all the time. SoCal cannot get enough Disneyland, it's insane (in a good way I guess). I'm genuinely curious to know other people's thoughts on how Disney has done it. In LA, Disneyland now occupies rarefied air (like Apple does) where people just gobble it up no matter what the product, no matter what the cost. Maybe I just have an extreme bias simply because I am that age where every college student and post-grad obsesses over it, or maybe not, I don't really know.
  13. That's exactly what it is, they did the same thing with Twisted Colossus last year. Although this year is a bit different in the fact that it's actually still the same chassis with a remolded interior seat (and seatbelt). They are quite comfortable.
  14. I was always under the impression that the original Flying Saucers were doomed because it was always breaking down and had a ton of mechanical issues not because it was a crap ride. The new version had much better tech so WDI thought that they could successfully bring back the ride, but then I guess nobody (initially) realized it just wasn't that fun (or efficient). So basically the original ride system was left in the 60s and replaced with something "better" but then the ride still sucked anyway. I bet that in 10 years time there will be websites dedicated to bringing back the saucers again.
  15. So Revolution's supports are actually (officially) getting painted blue. They have already painted a few by the station. I must say it does look rather unusual to see the ride in a different color, even if it is just the supports. It looks good though.
  16. I saw that they had removed all of the Panda Express signage. Was really hoping they would put a Mexican place in, but alas...
  17. Crews have started to power wash Revolution's track in preparation for painting so it shouldn't be too long before we start seeing some fresh paint. They are also doing no small amount of tree trimming and clearing for the ride, the final helix is looking pretty bare right now but hopefully some nice foliage is in place for ride opening. Last I've head is they are looking at an early Spring opening so I don't think at this pace March is entirely unrealistic. I'm just sad about all the trees getting the ax... In other news, more cars of the fabled green Twisted Colossus train are making their way to the ride, although all of them aren't there yet.
  18. When I parked at 12:30 it wasn't even to the Scream corkscrews. The midway is pretty quiet so not a bad day at all. This week should be even better because of all the forecasted rain.
  19. I do know that it was down to one train for a good portion of the month as they were doing a slight refurb on one of the trains. They brought the second train back a lot sooner than I thought they would which is very surprising. I think the train hit it's cycle count and maintenance was on top of it so props to them.
  20. Woops didn't see that they put the second train back on today as it's been running one train for the past few weeks. Just checked and sure enough it is running two trains. I guess miracles do happen.
  21. If you're one of the first people in the park, go straight to Full Throttle. It's one train ops right now and this last week the line has been absolutely terrible. If you don't hit it right away, have fun waiting an hour and a half for Big Loop: The Ride.
  22. Crowds will be relatively light, the park closes at 8 so there's none of the crowd you'd expect for New Year's since they don't do anything for it.
  23. Yolo broke yesterday and was down the second half of the day, interesting that it's still down today. TC is having a lot of issues with lift 1 apparently (sensors tripping in the rain). If it's still down Saturday I might go over and find out some more details. Also, I don't believe the green train has been salvaged for parts, two of the cars are sitting out by the ride still on their shipping crates untouched. I'm not sure where the other cars are but I'm assuming they are either still in the coaster shop or somewhere else on property and not salvaged for parts.
  24. ^I agree, removing all of the "pointless fences" would make those areas lose a significant bit of their theming and charm. Not to say that there aren't ways for foot path improvements, but ripping out all of the planters isn't necessarily the answer. Planters and greenery are the difference between nice theming/shade and the empty pit of hell that is Full Throttle Plaza.
  25. ^So far the crowds have been pretty mild and all schools are out now. Parking hasn't once come close to filing all three sections of the main lot yet so crowds have been manageable. Last year was the same way, Saturday will be crowded, but that's about it.
