  1. Yeah they aren't going to have trains sit on the lift. The main problem I saw loading was that they kept having to recheck seats over and over for some reason. If that and the fact the lap bars are really hard to get up are fixed then they could actually get it dueling.
  2. My review: I got to ride Twisted Colossus last night in the front car, two of the middle cars, and in the back car. Let's just cut to the chase, this is a back row kind of ride. While everyone else is waiting for the front, I'll be waiting in the back! Being in the back made for some serious ejector moments of airtime that were actually sustained for a nice amount of time. Most of the hills were 'pops' that did bounce you out of your seat, but the two hills coming in and out of the Hi Five element were nice and sustained as well as the hill underneath the top gun stall. Blue side: All about the airtime. Green side: Absolutely twisted. With a good helping of airtime. Sadly, I never once actually saw the ride duel. Granted this was their first night operating it with a big crowd, but it was weird because they kept having to recheck seats and unlock cars and relock them again. It was a constant struggle all night. I also saw A LOT of people take the walk of shame which really sucks... It's also really hard to get the lap bar back up once they release it as they don't just pop up, I'm not sure if that is typical for RMC trains or not. There is also a single rider line which is great! There has to be a grouper for it to work though so there might be days where they don't use it (like last night). There will only ever be 3 trains on the course at once. The 4th train will be arriving late summer and will be put on the track once another train is cycled off for refurbishment. Also, the structure will be lit up with a lot of color changing LED washes but those have yet to be shipped to the park, much less be installed. Not sure how accurate this is, but apparently in order for the trains to properly duel, they need to dispatch around every minute. Once they get the kinks out, maybe it will be possible? Hopefully? It's still a killer ride non the less. The Screampunk District actually looks pretty nice, they have a lot of interesting props sprinkled around the area. Scream even got a 2.5D sign (not quite 3D as it is just a painted flat). Scream also got new banners around the station that make it look more "steampunk" but it still has the weird 2000s graphics mixed in as well. Scream's trains also do not have any of the new, freshly painted parts that make it match the rest of the new colors which is odd, maybe those come later. Now for the part that really matters: The general opinion of the ride. Everyone LOVED it. The general thought was that the blue side was the appetizer for the green side, and I agree. The green side is much more twisted. Overall, IMO the best ride in the park and one of the best coasters I've ever ridden.
  3. 1) The brake run before the green lift always slows the train down, no matter what. No stopping though. 2) No idea. 3) The lights for the structure will be coming later this summer, I promise. 4) All of the larger hills gave ejector airtime. The small ones gave quick pops.
  4. Will post a more in depth review later, but this ride is a killer and everyone agrees! Also, definitely a back row ride.
  5. It's the employee preview party right now. I'll give my thoughts later
  6. They have already installed nets in the top gun stall and zero G roll, so I think they've thought that far ahead. If I'm not mistaken there is also a block right outside of the station before the twisty bits, so hopefully that will allow for trains to sit there and wait for the green side and not the other way around. However you slice it though, it's going to be up to the crew to consistently hit their time. We'l see.
  7. In other news, Scream is actually getting a real sign! It's a miracle.
  8. They will be installing new led fixtures to light up the ride, it's just a matter of when.
  9. ^^Remember though that the other side of the station will now be used as part of the queue and the existing queue for both sides will be combined into one. However, I do fully expect the queue to spill onto the midway quite often.
  10. Thanks for the positive attitude... I'm going to assume you're being sarcastic, at least I hope so. Have there been any cases of an RMC creation being trimmed or slowed down yet?
  11. Whenever I see a picture of the re-painted Scream this is all I can think about... what's the point if they're not even going to cover up the parking lot under the ride? Personally I'd rather they didn't paint it and spend far less money on mulch, rocks, dirt... anything than they did on the new paint. That to me would be a bigger improvement. Any update on Goliath by the way? Really? Personally I'm much happier now that they repainted one of the worst looking rides I've ever seen. Only thing that still needs to be done is refreshing the front entrance and painting the station to match the new color scheme. Goliath is still down, I don't think anyone knows for how long at this point. Twisted Colossus looks absolutely fantastic! I haven't been this excited for a coaster at Magic Mountain since Tatsu. It's been really awesome to watch it come together piece by piece and I even had the pleasure of watching the inaugural test run! The wheels make the ride really quiet, which won't last for long once there is a train full of riders screaming their heads off. Overall it looks absolutely fantastic and an airtime machine!
  12. It was the whole train if I am not mistaken, so we shall see!
  13. I definitely have no idea when they will start testing so I won't guess, but seeing Alan there made my inner coaster design nerd smile.
  14. Alan was indeed at Twisted Colossus today and the orange train was at the bottom of the lift hill last I saw. I'm really excited to see this thing run!
  15. Got some good news, at least one of Scream's trains will be repainted to match the new color scheme. I can't definitively say that they all are but at least one is. Also, the steel on Twisted Colossus is getting painted white up until where it meets the track, that part looks like it will stay bare steel.
  16. As of last night all of the track has been installed!
  17. If I was allowed to take pictures I would! Last time I looked today there are only a few pieces of the blue zero G left. Green side is completed. It looks great!
  18. I can't believe how fast RMC finished putting the track down for the ride. Very impressive. Also, this is a ride that pictures don't do justice. I have the distinct pleasure of seeing the construction progress week by week in person and every new element they put up looks absolutely fantastic. The Screampunk District might actually be finished quicker than we think though. They are already pouring concrete for the walkways and most of Magic Moments has been repainted and rethemed on the outside. They have also begun work on Twisted Witches (although it's not that far along). Only thing that disappointingly hasn't been touched is Scream plaza and Scream's station, but that probably won't take long to do whatever they are going to do.
  19. Yes it was absolutely empty today, wish I could ride some rides while I'm there... RMC and the contractors have really kicked it in to high gear this last week. The only thing that isn't done now on the blue side is the inversion! I don't want to curse it but I'm thinking Memorial Day weekend is more than possible for opening. *knocks on wood*
  20. I don't think you understand SFMM's operation very well... Hence the sarcastic
  21. Considering how much money the park has been making off of the Capcom advertisements in the Goliath line, I'm sure the park will definitely be hurrying up to fix it.
  22. Scream will reopen when the rest of the area opens as well. Right now most of the area from Magic Moments down is devoid of any concrete so it will be a little while before it is done. Memorial Day Weekend is looking like the target that the Twisted Colossus team is trying to hit. So hopefully no late June openings... Oh and...
  23. What is the story behind Giovanola anyhow? They were Intamin's coaster fabricator for a long time with Intamin acting as a pimp and then they decided to spin off and go out on their own? And then Giovanola made Goliath and Titan and went out of business? What happened there?
  24. This thing is looking like it's going to have quite a few head choppers. Some of those pictures look insane!
