  1. If it's a very windy day then yes expect there to be quite a few ride closures.
  2. That little bunny hop at the bottom of the first drop looks absolutely insane!
  3. Magic Mountain cleans the parking lot off every night that the park operates (cleaning into the next morning as well). Every theme park parking lot is a mess at the end of the night, people seem to think it's okay to just dump all their accumulated trash and drive off. Have you ever seen Disneyland's parking lots at night? They are bad too. Even if there was a trashcan at every single parking space I guarantee that there would be a ton of trash everywhere. When you're paying $20 to park, people get this inflated sense of entitlement.
  4. Considering that the area is going to be called The Screampunk District I highly doubt Scream will get renamed.
  5. As far as the new paint for Scream! I'm not sure if it will get completely new colors or if it will stay the same. Only reason being that they have brand new parts for Scream sitting underneath the coaster (still wrapped) that still have the same color scheme. Granted Six Flags tends not to plan too far in advance so perhaps the colors will change but if I were to hazard a guess I'm going to assume that the colors aren't changing, but then again I could be pleasantly surprised. Even if the colors don't change, at least it's getting painted!!!
  6. The Christmas lights will be coming down after the holidays.
  7. ^Mantis gave me a newfound respect for almost every other roller coaster ever. It will be interesting to see if it pans out as a floorless. In other news, track has made it to just about the crest of TC's new lift hill, and the drop shaping looks like it's going to be nuts!
  8. I had heard that it housed a flight simulator, which would explain the pits in the ground that are covered up by wood. But the building was originally a computer center for the park way back in the day? Interesting... I'd love to see pictures if anyone has any.
  9. Here's a question for all you old people who visited Magic Mountain back in the 80s. What was the building that Toyz of Terror currently resides in originally used for? I'm talking about the building that was in front of Flashback and next to the old season pass processing area (circa 2006). I'm quite curious as I have yet to find an answer from anyone.
  10. The last bent has been put up on TC to fill in the hole left by the fire. Now they are beginning on shaping the first drop and it looks steep! Also, when the rest of the structure gets a fresh coat of paint this ride is going to look GOOD.
  11. ^ Odd... I had the exact opposite experience on both rides. That makes no sense why it would be different on two different days.
  12. The waiting for a ride op to lower the lap bar is no longer in effect. At least it wasn't when I rode it two Sundays ago. I do agree that it would be nice if they put drive tires on the turn into the station to speed it up or at least make it a block. Having the coaster just meander around that turn really does detrimentally effect ride throughput. Anyone have some more reviews of their experience at Fright Fest last weekend?
  13. The cell phone policy is supposedly chain wide although I believe it's up to specific parks as to the severity of how they enforce it. Honestly, I understand the policy and why it's implemented. I remember a few years back when we used to post photos on this very thread of various employees using their cell phones at work. It was a huge problem. I don't necessarily agree that it should be no cell phones at all, (I think they could be used sparingly backstage out of sight of guests) but I understand that for most people it's all or nothing. Give an employee an inch, they'll go 5 miles. So in order to squash something that has been a huge problem in the past, Six Flags went zero tolerance with no leeway, and I applaud them for that. There really isn't anything to photograph right now without breaking rules.
  14. There is no NDA. And "this dude" obeys the Six Flags policy of no cell phones while on the clock. It's automatic termination. The track is also in an area you can't really see unless you looked to the left while on Scream's brake run. But there is track on site, so be excited!
  15. In other non-nitpicking news, the first few pieces of track have been delivered on site. Both green and blue. Not much track but it's really starting! Now since the park is closed on weekdays construction will really be picking up.
  16. Workers are up on the top of the lift hill today cutting track.
  17. The first drop of 'old' Colossus was into a trench of sorts. A few of the drops are dug into the ground a bit.
  18. I highly doubt that the colors were picked because of Deja Vu. Would be cool if they were though. Supposedly the colors were chosen because they will be a big part of the color scheme that will be in the new Back Alley section of the park. All the wood that is pictured is new and was just shipped to the park. Full on deconstruction and construction of the actual structure should be happening within the next few weeks.
  19. The actual brakes have been removed, not just the tires. That was actually the second thing to go after taking the chains and motors off the lifts. And the wood pile that is sitting by the exit has been there for at least a few weeks. (I don't recall exactly how long, it could have been a while) There is another pile that sitting in the furthest turnaround. I believe it's simply left over wood that they have from maintenance on the ride. Anyhow, I'm extremely exited to see the new layout! I'm so happy that I'm going to have a RMC coaster that I can oogle at every day! Even the construction has me amped. Rumor also has it that the ride will be getting a nice, upgraded led light package to replace the old one.
  20. The cranes were already there at 6AM when I got to work today. They seriously wasted absolutely no time at all...
  21. All I could think of while watching that video was how good the ride used to look when they actually kept up the paint. Really really striking with the white supports and red handrails. Hopefully once RMC is done with it the ride will look that good again.
  22. I finally got my last ride on Colossus Saturday after having not been on it for a few years. Just as I remembered, a shadow of what I'm sure it once was. I'll be very happy when RMC comes through and makes it into a ride that's worth riding again. Any ideas on names though? I'm sure they won't end up calling it Colossus 2, that would be stupid and redundant (X2). Wait... That makes it the perfect name!!! Iron Colossus Son of Colossus Colpocolypse The New Colossus Nothing really rings true. Edit: Word filter got me
  23. Congrats on the completion of the 36 hour marathon! I saw the train dwindle down to only 6 riders; I'm honestly surprised anyone lasted more than 1 ride. No there isn't. That area is the newest addition to the Magic Mountain backstage dumping ground. Don't get your hopes up for something being put there for the time being. I'd also be shocked if they tore out Green Lantern and gave it to another park. It doesn't take up any space and adds to their valuable "coaster count". It would also never be torn out only to be replaced by a ride of the same name because then there goes any realistic chance of marketing. Personally though, wouldn't be sad to see it go. When is Six Flags announcing all of their 2015 plans?
  24. Some interesting RTs from the Magic Mountain Twitter account. Aquatrax confirmed. Will be called Son Of YOLO. Can anyone confirm if this is the actual official Magic Mountain Twitter?
