  1. 17/20 - U.S/Canada Not too bad... haven't tried the others yet!
  2. Wow, what a shocker! A Zamperla Hawk would be cool, but I believe the Log Ride is too close/low for one of those. ~Nicholas
  3. I'm sure most of you guys don't know, but on August 3rd (yesterday) the Looff Carousel turned 100 years old. In honor of it's birthday, I rode it 100 times (only getting off once!) It took me from 11 AM to 11:07 PM! I was also interviewed by local news station LIVE, KSBW! Also, was interviewed by the Santa Cruz Sentinel. Links: www.facebook.com/SantaCruzBeachBoardwalk http://www.ksbw.com/video/28761198/detail.html http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/localnews/ci_18610621 AND BOY AM I SORE! ~Nicholas
  4. To all of you guys who are going to the park soon, be sure to experience the new Haunted Castle attraction that opened in June 2010. It is a great ride and over the past month, over 4 new props have been added to the ride, thus creating a more "complete" ride. ~Nicholas
  5. Sounds like fun! I'll try to sneak an entry in. ~Nicholas
  6. ^Sorry to hear about that! I've never seen something like that before. I don't usually wait for the front because I don't really care where I sit on the ride, but never have heard anyone having a problem with waiting for it before. You were there on Monday? I was too! When were you at the Giant Dipper? ~Nicholas
  7. The Giant Dipper at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk!
  8. Sorry for not updating this thread more frequently. A LOT has been happening at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, so I apologize for not keeping you all up to date! Below is a list of some new things at the Boardwalk: -New Mural on Looff Carousel building. -New store, "Millions of Memories" opened. (features Boardwalk logo-ed items - lots of 100th anniversary Carousel stuff) -Street-side improvements on buildings. -Street-side Giant Dipper sign based off old entrance to ride from the 1950's. -New "wooden decking" for tables on the Boardwalk (over the sand) -New sign at ticket booth by Carousel on the street that says, "Santa Cruz Beach" Today, I have pictures of the first 5 items on the list above. However, the picture I have of the decking is a photo of them still building it. The decking was finished mid last week. I'll be visiting the park tomorrow with friends and I hope to nab a photo of the completed decking along with the "Santa Cruz Beach" sign. ... now, on to the photos! The new mural at the Looff Carousel painted by world-renowned trompe-l'œil artist John Pugh! Sign for the new store, located down the colonnade by Marini's at the Beach(Salt Water Taffy and more!). Some of the interior. Some of the street-side improvements on one of the maintenance buildings. New street-side Giant Dipper sign! Awesome! Shot of the decking being built. It starts about 5 feet behind where I took the photo. The blue fence has been removed since completion. ... ===================== Look for more pics soon - thanks for looking!
  9. I live not that far away from the place and from past experiences, it is really worth the visit. I wouldn't go just for the coaster though, the park is mainly for the train, thus the name. If I go soon, I'll be sure to take some photos and post them on here. ~Nicholas
  10. I wish I lived closer to these puppies! Expect a few entries from me for the contest. Congratulations on the permanent exhibit! ~Nicholas
  11. Bay Beach looks like an awesome little park! The Zippin Pippin looks great, too. I found this to be kind of funny. The shot you took of the "Coming Soon" sign, looks a lot like the Grizzly at California's Great America, but hte only difference is the Zippin Pippin sign Photoshopped in! Take a look at the comparison below. Why would such a park use that ride?! WHYYYY. Zippin Pippin "Coming Soon" shot - vs. - The Grizzly at California's Great America : It's the same ride in both pics!
  12. I waited 2 1/2 hours for Apocalypse at Six Flags Magic Mountain during Spring Break last month. Only ONE train going.
  13. Nice TR! I was there today as well, and I saw you, but wasn't sure if it was really you. What were your thoughts on the ride? I thought it is a fantastic addition to the park, and even more fun in the rain! Thanks for posting. I'll be posting my own TR possibly soon.. ~Nicholas
  14. Holy cr*p. That airport is AMAZING! It looks so real! :O
  15. I believe that used to be a snack stand back when Ninja was in its hayday, as there was a lot of traffic up there when Ninja opened and it was pretty busy on the mountain. I'm not sure, but I think it also sold Ninja gifts, as I have an old plastic Ninja mug from opening year that I'm pretty sure my mom purchased for me while I was riding. The Laughing Dragon used to be the Four Seasons, I know that for sure. And under the food location is the Magic Pagoda walkthrough, which is now used as a Fight Fest maze. Thanks Robb and others for helping me understand what the building was! And, I never knew a Fright Fest maze was UNDER that restaurant! How/where do you enter? ~Nicholas
  16. ONE MILLION POSTS!!! ONE MILLION POSTS!!! ONE MILLION POSTS!!! ONE MILLION POSTS!!!
  17. I emailed RCDB about a year or so ago when the SBNO status for the Jet Star went down. They told me that it ended up being scrapped ... could be wrong though. ~Nicholas
  18. The Laughing Dragon was the Four Winds Steakhouse. ... So anyone know? ~Nicholas
  19. Just out of curiosity, what was in this building before it closed? I looked online and found it to be called "Pagoda Bar". Is that correct, and if so, what did they serve and when did it close? Anybody no why? So many questions! ~Nicholas
  20. There is one at Gilroy Gardens (aka, Bonfante Gardens) in Gilroy, CA called Rainbow Garden. I believe it was built by Chance Morgan, but I do not have any idea about the make of the one you posted a photo of. It could very well be Chance. If you haven't been to the park before, I strongly suggest you check it out. Picture I took of Rainbow Garden from September, 2010!
  21. Grab the Brass Ring Event April 25- May 1, 2011 To celebrate the ride's 100th birthday, if you grab a brass ring while riding the Carousel you can exchange it at the new "Millions of Memories" store for a prize! I'll be posting photos of this new store, "Millions of Memories" soon! It's a great new store located on the colonnade between Marini's and Oneil's. The shop has Boardwalk logoed dedicated items including a lot of 100th anniversary Carousel goodies. Stay tuned! ~Nicholas
  22. 14/20 ... missed the one about the Rocket and some of the "inversion" type questions.
  23. I loved that bridge too! ..so mad that they removed it about 6 years ago. At the time of the video, I believe that land was known as Smurf Woods. ~Nicholas
  24. Great TR .. you made me really hungry! I wonder how many people got the "Garbage Burger". It really DOES look like garbage! ~Nicholas
