  1. That's a great video. Looks like you guys had a fun time at Knoebels'. It was neat to see some Flying Turns footage - can't wait till that opens up!
  2. This is the update I've been waiting for! This is my home park - great pictures you took. The park is definitley my favorite by a long shot. It has wonderful rides and good food - the Giant Dipper too! Thanks for the update, and I posted an update to my SCBB NEW Haunted Castle thread, if you're interested! ~Nicholas
  3. Hey everyone! Sorry for not having any updates recently. It's been a very busy week of school and I didn't even get to go to the Boardwalk until yesterday! Not a lot has changed in the past 9 days but I got a whole bunch of pics to show you! You will still get an update on this coming Tuesday like usual. I also plan on posting a topic fairly soon of my amusement park collection.(I collect the OLD stuff...) So let me know if you're interested in seeing that stuff or not! Here is a video courtesy of the Boardwalk of the Winter Storm we just had! Anywho enjoy the update and thanks as always for following. ~Nicholas Cool shot of the Dipper I wanted to share. I wanna ride it!!! ==================== NEXT UPDATE: Coming this Tuesday, expect some new pictures of the Haunted Castle construction as well as a photo of a piece of the attraction I own... STAY TUNED! Street-side view of the HC. Not much new except for those stairs and wood supports at the far right. The ocean's water came all the way up to the HC as you can see, since the sand is all smoothed out! Remains of the huge winter storm we had last week. The water apparently went all the way up to the Boardwalk it self! From the beach. You can't really tell much of a difference but you can see the roof and some of the curved frontal parts. Looking down the Boardwalk past the NEW Haunted Castle. Looking good! View of the upper roof of the ride. Also rounded and now the roof is all in. Front side of attraction with the now rounded front as well as wood holding it up for support!
  4. Very neat commercial! Thanks for posting. They also have a 'waterslide' related one! -CC
  5. Thanks everyone. On the top floor will be offices, first-aid, storage etc. The Boardwalk level will be the ride loading platform as well as the return of the Ice Cream stand that was there and also a Roller Boller game, to name a few. On the basement level(10 ft below sand level) is where the main ride takes place. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, we lost power on Tuesday after noon from the huge rain storms and didn't get it back till last night! Possibly expect a video this weekend or concept art. Here is an image describing the layout of the ride at the Boardwalk level. Enjoy and as always, thanks for following! ~Nicholas Boardwalk level of the ride configuration.
  6. ^Thanks Robb, they really do pack in the rides! ======================== Hey everybody! Today for you I have a small update, since not too much has changed in terms of construction. The roof has been put on partly, as well as the second floors' floor party in. It has been raining like cats and dogs here for the past 4 days and will continue for the next week, so not all of the pictures will be crystal clear! These pictures were taken on January 17, 2010(I wanted to wait till Tuesday for the update). You can also expect a short video between now, and next Tuesday! I hope you all enjoy! Thanks as always. ~Nicholas(coaster-crazy) ============================= One last street-side picture showing the whole structure, with it's new roof. Brrr, it's cold! =============== NEXT UPDATE: New updated pictures of the Haunted Castle as well as some concept art, and possibly a video! Let's hope the rain doesn't hold-up construction too much! Street-side view of construction. I'm sure those guys are glad to be working under there rather than up-top welding! Beach-view of the NEW Haunted Castle. Note that you can see the roof and 2nd level roof/floor put in. Close-up shot of Boardwalk level construction of the Haunted Castle. Looks like it's pretty wet there too! Sparks from the welder above make tiny explosions when they hit the frigid water on the Boardwalk. Working up-top welding - in the rain and wind! A very wet, and windy day here at the Boardwalk. As you can see, part of the roof and 2nd level floor has been placed.

  9. ^Yeah, they sure are. Last week none of that steel was there! :O Thanks for the comment. ~Coaster-Crazy
  10. @Nin: Thanks, it was sad to see it go, but times change. @ghost007jas: Thanks. It sure is a lot better then the Santa Monica Pier! =================== UPDATE JANUARY 11th, 2010 =================== Hey guys, I know I said the next update would be tomorrow, but it turned out that I wouldn't be able to go tomorrow, so I went this afternoon instead! There has been a TON of progress since I last went a week ago. Construction has now gone VERTICAL! The steel has been placed for the 2 story building(3 floors if you include the basement)! This is very big news as this is one of the more vital steps in getting closer to the ride's complete enclosure. Currently the ride is 5 days ahead of schedule and they are aiming for a Memorial Day Weekend opening date! Below are some videos of the Haunted Castle being built - time lapse style! Both of these following clips are courtesy of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk - thanks guys. They show construction through November in the videos. As always thanks for watching! 1. SCBB's Haunted Castle Time Lapse: Part 1 (construction from early September through October) 2. SCBB's Haunted Castle Time Lapse: Part 2 (construction from mid October through November 29th, 2009) NEXT UPDATE: Coming next Tuesday, pictures of the continued construction as well as possible videos either on the next update, or in between! ============================= CONSTRUCTION PICTURES FROM 1/11/2010 ============================= Wide shot of the construction progess from street-side. ========== NEXT UPDATE: Coming next Tuesday, pictures of the continued construction as well as possible videos either on the next update, or in between! Neat shot of a worker welding the steel together. Pretty colors! Street-side picture showing the building located to the left of the Haunted Castle being rebuilt from the demolition. Yet another beach side pic - but at a different angle! A picture of construction from the Beach. Looking really cool! Looking down the Boardwalk past construction. Watch out for the hole! Another beach side pic - but close up. That hole in the center is where the ride will spiral down to the basement level. Cool! Beach side pic showing the work between the disconnected pieces of Boardwalk. Working hard up top! Wow, that's high! Beach side pic showing off the now vertical structure of the new ride!
  11. Hey, great work man. I really like the elepant on the facade of that building. This reminds me so much of Zoo Tycoon - great game that was! Where did you get that elephant from? ~Coaster-Crazy
  12. Yes, that's right! You're the one who made that Giant Dipper model in No Limits then, correct? Anyways, thanks for the comment, next update in 2 Days!!! ~Coaster-Crazy
  13. Thanks for all the comments guys, it's really appreciated! Bkkman13: That's cool, thanks for the comment. RobbAlvey: Hey, thanks for the comment Robb! I tried to make a good first impression. RCFreak: Thanks. Yeah, currently construction is about a month ahead of schedule! But there is some steel that they need now that isn't ready to be shipped yet which unfortunately is going to be putting all that time gained, to time lost.(according to on site construction worker) 65skylark: Thanks for the comment! sfmman2000: Thanks, that video was fun to make! I'll be sure to say hi - If I can spot you! Thanks again everyone! ~Coaster-Crazy
  14. Greetings, and hello TPR! I joined this site back in early 2006 hoping to be active on the forums but I basically just enjoyed the site's updates and never posted once. I recently decided to come back (well, really come to the site) and do something useful with my account! Anyways, on to what the topic really is about. ====== This topic is for the new Haunted Castle ride going in to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California. Their old dark ride was operating there since 1973 and it became old and the boardwalk thought it was time for an update. The ride's last operating day was on August 23rd, 2009 and was completely demolished on September 11th, 2009. I have been going to the site weekly to check out construction and it has progressed very far since the demolition back in September. I will be updating the topic weekly with pictures. The ride is scheduled to open in Summer 2010, though according to some construction workers, as early as Memorial Day weekend. Any who, here are some pictures of the demolition! =============== NEXT UPDATE: Coming this Tuesday expect more pictures from each week including pics from the day of posting next Tuesday. See more videos including official ones direct from the Boardwalk as well as new ones from me. \/ Below are pictures of construction from September to December including captions on what's going on in each picture! Picture from December 22nd, 2009 showing that the cement has been poured on the Boardwalk level of the ride! ======= NEXT UPDATE: Coming this Tuesday expect more pictures from each week including pics from the day of posting next Tuesday. See more videos including official ones direct from the Boardwalk as well as new ones from me. Picture from December 1st, 2009 showing that the ground floor has been sealed and that work has begun for the Boardwalk level for cement. Picture from November 17th, 2009 showing the complete pillars on the ground floor. Picture from November 3rd, 2009 that shows that the pillars are much farther along and much more evident. Photo from October 27th, 2009 showing that the final layer of cement has been poured and that some pegs have shown up that will be pillars supporting the next floor. HC pic from October 20th, 2009 showing that the digging has been completed and the first layer of cement has been poured. HC pic from October 6th, 2009 showing off the sand being dug for the ground level of the ride. Picture from beach side of construction in September. A crane is putting in those tall metal things for the wall on the basement level of the ride.
