  1. The Looff Carousel got a new page on SCBB's website in honor of it's 100th anniversary this year! http://www.beachboardwalk.com/carousel/ Also, two commemerative 100th anniversary posters are now available and were both designed by the Boardwalk's Art Director Jill James. They can be purchased for only $10! http://www.beachboardwalk.com/store/product125.html http://www.beachboardwalk.com/store/product127.html That's all for now! ~Nicholas
  2. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk also once had a Schwarzkopf Jet Star, that operated from 1972 to 1991. It was replaced by the current SDC ride, Hurricane. http://rcdb.com/715.htm
  3. "We love to show progress! This morning, the SkyScreamer base is starting to take shape - staging is taking place in the tram drop-off area while the foundation for the actual site is being prepared." This photo is from a few hours ago. (Photo/photo caption courtesy of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom)
  4. ^Thanks for the compliments! It was quite crowded, but harldy anyone on rides. Perfect. More updates to come! ~Nicholas
  5. Hey all you Chowder freaks! Last Saturday, the Boardwalk held it's 30th annual Clam Chowder Cook-Off, and I went for the first time. I took over 50 photos and have selected the best of them to be posted here. Also in this photo TR are photos of the additions to the Carousel building for it's 100th anniversary this year. All photos were taken by me on February 26th, 2011. Now less talk, and more photos - let's go! ~Nicholas Clam Chowder Festival! Ticket Booth - $8 for a tasting kit, which allowed you to try 5 different chowders. The crowd! It was a really nice day, but cold! 45 degrees! Rock out with your clam out! More Chowder connoisseurs Just to give you a sense of how many people were here... From the Hurricane Deck, Chowder fans unite below. The NEW, slightly taller and higher capacity drop ride from Moser. Tsunami and the Ferris Wheel up above Free Fall up close A cool Ferris Wheel shot The ocean from the Ferris Wheel. It was just snowing in Santa Cruz the night before, and throughout the day. More of Free Fall from the Ferris Wheel. Some of the additions to the Carousel building for the 100th anniversary later this year. Looks nice! Shadows and new carousel additions! On the back side, the color is blue. Yup. Cool colors made from the green windows on the Merry-Go-Round building. A friend of mine! Even more friends! Man, I love my friends! Don't you wish you had this many friends?! Sea Horses glimmer in the sun a-top the Carousel building. ...but wait, I have MORE friends?! WOW! And to finish the update off, the Hurricane against the sky. Thanks for looking - more photos as time allows.
  6. How about Kong Deck? What if Santa Clara sold the park to thr Niners and then the Niners higher Cedar Fair to manage it, or something?
  7. Just noticed that CGA has added all of their restaurants to the website. http://www.cagreatamerica.com/attractions/category.cfm?ac_id=74 Was this here before? I didn't notice it! ~Nicholas
  8. Awesome TR! I'M SO HUNGRY NOW!!!! Also, did no one notice the mis-spelling of Nickelodeon in this photo below? Nickoledeon!
  9. Ever since I rode my first roller coaster in 1999 at 5 years old, I've been hooked on them. RollerCoaster Tycoon, which I got one year later, really sparked my interest and still does.
  10. ^You should give it a try sometime! This park desperately needed something new as the Dragon's Den toilet bowl slide was added in 2003 ... 8 years!!!
  11. I love how SFDK has been doing this for the past years. It's a great idea and the pictures are fantastic! ~Nicholas
  12. http://rwsplash.com/pages/ride_bombsaway.html FIRST OF ITS KIND ON THE WEST COAST! 2011 SEASON BEGINS MAY 15TH! Discuss. ADMIN EDIT: I went ahead and removed the ALL CAPS in your subtitle. I know this is exciting news, but there's no need to scream it! Thanks for sharing the news with us regardless!
  13. Here are the airtime hills. This is of the Gurnee, Illinois park, but the CGA version was essentially the same. See more photos here: http://www.greatamericaparks.com/images/thumbnails.php?album=131 ~Nicholas
  14. JEALOUS! To the people that went: Did any of you take pictures or videos? I wanna see how high this baby is going @ 104 mph! ~Nicholas
  15. The 2011 CGA park map is available online now. Download a full version here with rides names and 2011 events. The map shows the Invertigo removal and Tiki Twirl changes. http://cagreatamerica.com/DOCs/11_cga_parkmap.pdf ~Nicholas
  16. Wow, great stuff! Thanks for posting this info. Looking forward to the pics of the brochure that you have. ~Nicholas
  17. 13/20 ... missed the more recent coaster related questions. ACEd the history questions. ~Nicholas
  18. ^Agreed. Love the Blue Streak photo - soo much blue!!! ~Nicholas
  19. Heh, wow, that Fiesta Texas map is WAY more useful than the online Discovery Kingdom map. The SFDK one doesn't even have a list of rides/attractions nor are there any markers on the map! http://www.sixflags.com/discoverykingdom/info/parkmap.aspx Interesting to see Fiesta Texas' map up already ... will have to see how the other SF parks will adjust. ~Nicholas
  20. I am John McCain, and I approve this message. ~Nicholas
  21. ...We were supposed to see a nice facelift to a small local water park several years ago. The facelift included 4 new slides, lazy river, mat racers, wave pool, and what looked like a couple toilet bowls. But ofcourse, the people of Pleasanton (Rich people to be exact) didn't want everyone invading 'their' city and degrading it.... This wasn't for Raging Waters SJ, was it? I never knew they were going to add all this. GRRR!!!! ~Nicholas
  22. Well, I do know that the offices in the "purple" section that sfmman2000 highlighted will be moved down to the 1st and 2nd floors of the NEW Haunted Castle building. For props, some spiders were shown under the Boardwalk that they fabricated to be put in the new ride. As for the old clock and huge spider, I'll try to find out. ~Nicholas
  23. Those footers were from the Whizzer, which closed at the park in 1988. ~Nicholas
  24. The area between Invertigo and the three-point challenge is where the first-aid building is. You can't see it in the overview, but I guess they could build around it. ~Nicholas
  25. Excellent TR, Ledgy. Your photos really make me want to visit Ferrari World now... Anyone wanna take me?
