  1. ^^I'm aware that there are people that have inside scoops (I've been in that position before) but when there are posts made that seem to contradict the ones a few pages back, it's hard to sound credible. The point that I was trying to make is things aren't really "official" until it's been "officially" announced. And in some cases :cough:turbulance:cough: things can still change after it's been made official. Oh and hpfan3, if that post seems a little harsh it wasn't intended too. It's hard make stuff sound right when you're just looking at words lol.
  2. ^^^ With some of the posts you have made, I don't see how you can be sure of anything, let alone the rest that make up this "we"... But in all seriousness, this thread has been really entertaining to read through. I personally don't think this whole thing is a hoax, but I also feel that nothing is official until there is an official announcement/press release. People that boast about "knowing" what this ride is are just looking for attention IMO and don't realize that most of the people on here don't care since the announcement is just a few more days away. It's really easy to slip up in posts when you have no clue of what you're talking about. I have two ideas about what it will be. Either a B&M hyper (possibly looping) or a really funky-cool Intamin looper . My bet is on the latter of the two.
  3. Once again, Lies! all Lies! Jay Leno doesn't even have a chin that big. Nice photo TR...I would never venture to any park this time of year. You are very brave.
  4. More than likely the lighting is just adding the effect to the restraints, but to me it looks as if there might be a layer of clear gummy plastic-like padding (that's the best way I can describe it ) around the restraint. You have to look really hard, which probably means it isn't there but I thought I'd throw it out there lol.
  5. When did KI get Demon Drop? I'm suprised no one caught that. Great photo TR! SOB looks like a playful, loving kitten on cloudy days.
  6. The problem is people don't see these rides for what they are. They are machines, that if abused or not paid attention to, can hurt or kill you. People go into parks expecting it to be safe (which it is). But the have the wrong idea of "safe". They don't read the ride safety signs because they think "it wouldn't be open, or there would have already been an accident if it wasn't safe". That would explain why parents with kids that are 1-12 inches too short will try anything to get an operator to permit the child to ride..... While that takes care of the guests stupidity, I really have nothing to explain the operator's. Who in their right mind? This one I can understand since the ride moves really fast, but the accidents like the one at Scream! at SFMM really have me perplexed. I don't remember where at the person was killed, but I don't see how you could not know that a coaster train on a B&M was headed in your direction. IDK, I feel for the parents, but she had an extreme lapse in judgment which unfortunately cost her her life, and also stole the sense of security at amusement parks for a several people.
  7. I wouldn't trust fair rides with watching my dog poop. Such a shame, another death. If this keeps up, we'll start having senators and whoever calling for the destruction of all rides. My heart goes out to the family. EDIT: Just watched the youtube vid, and that sets my fair ride comment in stone.
  8. I decided to add myself. Derby City Baby!
  9. From the TR's it seems that DZ at KI is still closed too.
  10. Just some quick comments to steel's posts, Thunder Run has the slowest load times at the park (mostly because of the seatbelt & lapbar check), but I can't believe supervisors weren't up there kicking butt. They pay special attention to dispatches on the coasters (well atleast on the front side). T2 was a very bad decision on your part, period. In the last two years the park has been doing drastic cosmetic work (i.e Chang, STOP, Entrance, etc). You can only spend so much a year on cosmetics. You cannot put SFKK and HW in the same sentence (oh and HW isn't south of SFKK, I know what you meant but I thought I'd make you aware). They have two completely different landscapes and working environments. Employees at HW for the most part, get to stay in some form of shade and/or AC during their shifts other than breaks. I had one ride (out of 4) that provided a very small amount of shade at SFKK, but my co-workers and I pushed as much as we could, so much so that some actually passed out from being in the 95*, 68% humidity trying to work as fast as we could. I'm not trying to make excuses for "special" group of employees that don't care about our guests at the park but most of the people working try their hardest to provide safe, efficient, and friendly service. I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience at the park that day, as I'm sure you are not the only one. On another note, I heard the girl's name on the news last night. I really do not know how they could sucessfully reattach her feet. I hope they can but seriously, what about her achilles tendons? Is it even possible to have them reconnected and functioning properly? I just don't know, but shes still in my prayers. I'm done.
  11. While I wouldn't go so far as to say that the cable snap was not the parks fault (i.e. poor maintenence) just yet, the cable falling/swinging in a certain fashion that caused the girl to be injured was something no one could prepare for and that isn't anyones fault. The park is going to get sued either way, no matter what, and I don't think the park will try to fight unless the lawsuit is astronomical. There is a reason why the cable snapped and I'm confident that it will be discovered. What we may never know though is how and in what fashion this cable came into contact with the rider to do so much damage.
  12. The chances of the ever happening again is very slim. So I wouldn't worry about crossing your legs on the seat, besides, if the cable wants to getcha, it will and there's nothing you can do about it.
  13. The park had to remain open for atleast 30 min. after the accident. They had the area where STOP is blocked off (keeping people out/in depending on what side of the main gates they were on. Ride operators are trained for emergency situations, but from witness testimony (take with a grain of salt), the ride was near the top when the cable broke. I read one account from someone on the ride when it happened and said that all of the cars were at the top for a longer than usual time, so it is possible that the operators did hit e-stop.
  14. Some of the rides at the park are super finicky, mainly Road Runner Express and Greezed Lightnin, followed loosly by Hellivator. Most of the reasons why rides go down is because the control panel operators don't hold something long enough, or stack cars, etc. The rides might go down, but there rarely is a major breakdown (totally excluding this incident) at the park. In recent times the only ride I've witnessed go down for the day shortly after opening was Greezed Lightinin. Roadrunner Express might every once in a while but that's a rarity. Although during the summer those two rides can be really sensitive, and on rare occasions a breadown on one of those rides might lead to the shut down of the other (not going into details). Like I said, SFKK is a very safe place to go and ride, with the exception of this and the Starchaser incident (pre Six Flags takeover). Maintenence at the park love their jobs and do everything they can to respond quickly and precisely, and make the rides as safe as possible.
  15. Oh give it up already people! I was talking to some people on my street about the whole thing. Like almost everyone, they take the news as it is. When someone says that the ride fell to the ground, they focus on that and not the video showing that the ride is supposed to fall to the ground. That is something that people will do. Amusement parks aren't thought of as the safest places in the world so when news like this breaks, they forget that they'd have a better chance of pulling up to a stop sign, being carjacked, shot in the leg, kicked by a deer, and finally sprayed on by a skunk. I think I might have already said it on here, but this is a freak accident. Even if the cable snapped due to maitenence reasons, who could prepare for the cable wrapping around or slicing through a 13 year old's legs. Nothing can predict that, it's just an incident where all of the variables lined up to create something this terrible.
  16. Please, Holiday World has more of a prescence than Beech Bend. I just saw my first ever commercial for that park on tv a couple of days ago. Tragic news.
  17. I don't think so, from what I've read, the only thing that was on in the lake area was that fountain over the canyon that the former heartline roll navigates. Many reviews said that the water bombs weren't on yet. I thought that Maverick only had one stengal dive, which was the one before the last airtime hill. The turn that goes under the drop doesn't look like it's banked enough to be considered a stengal dive, but I guess I must be mistaken.
  18. Umm, he wasn't there, it was his friends that did it. Seems like someone is upset because they didn't ride Maverick! Ah, I cannot wait to see a freaking POV! The ride looks so cool, and the reviews have been super positive. Heck I might decide to go to Cedar Point this year. Hmm, Maverick or the Voyage....I think I'll go with the Voyage!
  19. I can think of a couple Vekoma's that are better than B&M's (Flying Dutchmen Clones, and Superman: Ultimate Flights). But since you've come to your senses I won't poke at you anymore. I love Infusion's colors, and it actually looks like fun!
  20. It does look a lot slower than normal, but it just made a big move so it's gotta be broken in. Did anyone else notice that the covering on the zero car is missing on the trains? I wonder if they will put them back on or just leave it like that?
  21. Grat TR! I don't know what the heck happened to Thunder Run. A couple of years back, it was as smooth as a baby's bottom and the airtime was Amazing! Oh, and be glad you caught SFKK on a slow day with good weather. Usually the park is packed beyond belief.
  22. The one in Montreal is #2 or 3 in world ranking, and Thunder over Louisville is right behind that. I wanted to go to the Montreal to see that show, but just haven't gotten around to it lol.
  23. People should start wearing helmets. In all seriousness though, things like this occur all the time. Must've been a slow news day, or someone thought this was an original story or something. What I don't get is how suprised people are when this kind of stuff happens, and it makes me wonder if people really do forget about just what gravity does. It would freak me the hell out to have something like that happen, but I guess that's the price we pay...
