I havent seen the movie, but I have seen most, if not all, of the Borat sketches, and I find them funny more often than they are not. Then again I guess the Atlantic Ocean divides the sense of humour as well as other things. lol. Im thinking of buying it.

^^^ I hate the Cillit Bang ads as well. Why cant he talk without shouting? lol. Barry Scott isnt even his real name. lol.

PS3 Backward Compatability
Fallen Heretic replied to Fallen Heretic's topic in Random, Random, Random
I imagine its because they still have to retain distinct compatibility for PAL sources, such as DVDs and old PS2 games (well, some of them), etc, rather than refering to the output format. Which for many people will still be a PAL TV anyway. -
Brilliant. Its good to see another Scot appearing. There are more of us than people think. Then again, we do have the dubious honour of having the last ranked coaster in the steel poster poll. lol. Welcome to the boards mate.

Im just curious about this. A couple of weeks ago I took up Kamon Wing Chun. Two classes a week. I am really enjoying it. Its the first martial art Ive ever studied. I took it up for the same reasons as many do. I wanted to get fitter and learn to defend myself. It got me thinking. Are there any other folks here who study any kind of martial arts? If so, what ones? Why did you take it up and what do you feel you get out of it?

Its an excellent arragement from the movie Last of the Mohicans. The whole soundtrack to that film is awesome. That part in particular is based on an excellent peice called The Gael by Dougie MacLean. I like alot of his compositions (and not just because he is scottish). The original version sounds very different to the arrangement in the movie. Both are good though. There are some worrying things in that clip, but Ive seen predictions like this ten years ago, that never came true.

Being Pregnant Is the Newest Fashion In London?
Fallen Heretic replied to GMAN962's topic in Random, Random, Random
Seriously, teenagers here are at it like bunnies. A couple of years ago my neighbouring village has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the UK (as a percentage, not actual numbers). Most of them seem to want a baby because their friends have one. Ive seen the pattern so many times. One girl in a group of friends will fall pregnant (which these days should never happen unplanned unless your stupid and/or drunk) and within a year, all the others will also be pregnant. And of course its not them, but their parents who end up looking after the kid because they still want to have their social life every night. I know thats a generalisation and isnt true for everyone, but the area where I grew up is like ned central. There is a large number of rather thick people here that would take on exactly that kind of attitude. I think alot of you are assuming these kids have some common sense. Alot of them dont. Bytheway, if your wondering what a NED is, looky here.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ned_(Scottish) -
Apologies if this is already up, I did try a search. I heard this from another forum, and have found it reported on several sites. Im just curious as to what any other Europeans think about this. In a move to cut costs, Sony are not going to include the dedicated chips responsible for the backwards compatability on PAL PS3s. Instead they will be going for software emulation. So initially, fewer PS2 games will be playable on PAL machines. Of course, the launch price will stay the same. Im in two minds about this. The part of me that thinks the games industry hates Europe, says that software emulation never works quite as well as good hardware emulation, and somehow we are being cheated. Again. The other part of me says that although software emulation will be less than ideal at first, future upgrades should imporve performance will be easier to impliment and obtain. I wasnt planning on getting a PS3 early on anyway, but Im curious how other people feel about this.

Alien War is comming back!
Fallen Heretic replied to Fallen Heretic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
knowing that an alien could actually grab you just heightens the fear and makes the experience more real. I remember seeing huge burly guys throwing their screaming girlfriends towards the Alien as a distraction while they bolted the other way. Ive seen fathers pushing their kids to the side to get away as well. In the UK, Europe and Japan there shouldnt be a probelm, but in the US it might be an issue. I do hope there are waivers or something. Oh, on a slight side note, for a few months they had a Predator in there as well. With AVP2 I think that will make a return. -
hmmm...chocolate. I used to love getting a 99 from the Ice Cream vans. For those who dont know, a 99 is a regulay whippy ice cream cone, with small flake stuck in it. It was called a 99 because thay cost 99p. I loved the old flake adverts. Those were just....special. I dont know why some Scots here do such horrible things to a perfectly good choccy bar. For instance, did you know that you can actually buy and consume deep fried Mars Bars here? Yes, you read that right. Deep Fried Mars Bars. With batter and everything.

^^ Well if they dont, they should. Its an excellent hangover cure. I was sad when I didnt see any in Florida. Even Grand Canaria had Irn-Bru. -

What would a guy have to do to get some Irn-Bru in the States? Would I have to bring some with me? I used to adore the 'Coke Floats' they sold at Pizzaland in Blackpool before Pizza Hut took it over. Coke. With ice cream floating in it. Awesome. -
Alien War is comming back!
Fallen Heretic replied to Fallen Heretic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There is a new interview with one of the creators which has been linked on the myspace page. It reveals a few little bits of info. Glasgow opening is planned for July. Through some contacts, I have found out that the auditions for the Glasgow show will likely take place in May, so keep an eye out if your interested. Especially since they will likely be taking on some staff to join for the whole of the European and US tour. -

Seems there is also a MySpace set up for Alien War. Here is the link for those who want it. www.myspace.com/alien_war The latest from there is that the Glasgow run will be two months for the attractions 15th anniversary before the show moves on to London, Europe, then finally the USA. An official site should be along in a while. It seems that there will not be a permanent installation at the moment. -

Still no new news yet. There may not be for a while, but I did find this. As I think I mentioned before a documentary is being made about Alien War. Looking at the site for it, they have a little teaser video which has some (breif) footage from inside the attraction. Might be worth a look for those who have never experienced it. www.alienwarstory.com/ -
Only If America Had Cars This Cute
Fallen Heretic replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Random, Random, Random
Ive never really understood why so many U.S. folks have something against small cars. Like thinking they are unsafe or something. I drive a small car and its fine. Plus I can park it easier. Still, I wouldnt want to do a long journey in that little thing. Its just a bit too small. However, as a city run-around, it would be great. -

^ This info has come from two sources. First is a collectors website for Alien memrobelia and related junk. The other is one of the DJs at the Cathouse club in glasgow used to be heavily involved in it. In fact he got interviewed the other week for a documentary about the Alien Wars Show. He says he does know more, but cant divulge anything at the moment. He did say there will be auditions for the cast. As soon as I know when they are, i will post it up. -
Who's in Favor of School Dress Codes?
Fallen Heretic replied to Shavethewhales's topic in Random, Random, Random
Im used to uniforms over here, so its just normal to me. I did like when they started allowing the girls to wear tartan miniskirts. I personaly think uniforms are a good thing in school as long as there is a little room to manouver within the dress code. -

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, but it is a walk through (or is that run through?) attaction. I figured better in here than in random. Does anyone remember the old Alien War attraction that started in Glasgow in 1992 and closed in London 1995? It returned again for a run about 7 years ago. It was the best of the best of the best of the walkthroughs I have been on. People were literaly wetting themselves. It was properly terrifying. The news is they have announced thats its comming back. Beginging in its spiritual home in Glasgow this summer, it then travels to London, through Europe, and this time going to the states as well. Details are scarce at the moment. I highly, highly recommend this to anyone. If youve been before, you will know what im on about. If not, then you are in for a treat. The sets are taken direct from the Aliens movie. The previous runs had sets and effects, costumes etc actually built by a team from Pinewood. I cant stress enough how awesome it was. And now I cant wait. I hope its as good as I remember it. Ill feed more details as I find them. -
Off Season Model Railroaders
Fallen Heretic replied to Vekoma Fan Boy's topic in Random, Random, Random
Yeah, they use the same track gauge, but the scale is different. Its not noticable if your not looking for it, but I know it would bug me. lol. Id rather stick to one scale all the way through than mix OO and HO locos. -
Off Season Model Railroaders
Fallen Heretic replied to Vekoma Fan Boy's topic in Random, Random, Random
I used to have a layout in OO scale (as thats the 'standard' scale here) but it had to go due to space constraints. Once I have the space again, Id like to start somethig in HO scale. i choose HO scale due to the larger number of accessories and carnival rides at that scale I could get over the internet. I saw a z-scale layout placed in a coffee table once. I would like to do something like that as well.
