How many times were you able to get on Renegade? -

So Bob, how was the trip? Were any of the suggestions we had actually helpful? -
We never stood a chance anyway probably. VF is my home park and I wouldn't even vote for it. Though I would vote for it if the poll was which park was more convenient. Then again, getting on a great coaster, 20-30 times in one night, like Renegade, certainly has to mean something... You can't exactly do that with hardly any coaster at Cedar Point at any time of the year that I know of.

I think the poll should have been, which Cedar Fair park has the worst lines. Which might end up being people's favorite...

^If there really were 5 seconds on the second hill, that would be amazing. I actually get quite good air there, and am definitely more than a millimeter out of my seat, and am completely weightless for quite a bit on that hill. (I would say more-so in the front than back.) This coaster is very similar to Mamba at WoF, but Mamba is a much more intense coaster. CP needs to get Wild Thing back to how it used to run.. It was actually more fun and intense back in the old days. (Or Maybe my tastes have just changed that I need more intense rides???) -
Wicked on-ride video.

The POV made it look kick butt, but the other video made it seem like the ride was kind of slow. Still be fun to try it though! -

Wild Thing is so trimmed down that most coaster enthusiasts, including myself, call it Mild Thing. It is boring to ride after only a couple of times. You have to truly try to find ways to make it fun after 4 or 5 times. You do not have to do that on Renegade. Renegade is as fun and intense every single time. Sure, there is still some good air on Wild THing up and over the second hill, and a little on the back side, but the trimming has ruined what this coaster could be. It just isn't intense anymore. IMHO of course. -

Was out at VF last night. All the rides were working and the lines were not too bad. For the last 2 hours of the night, you could pretty much ride Renegade as many times as you like, with maybe a 1 train wait. I lost track of how many times I rode it, but believe it was somewhere near 30. Hey, it's a fun coaster, cut me some slack. Nothing else to do on a Sunday night anyway. And it was still just as fun the last time, as it was the first time. And not rough like some woodies! There was one sticking point though. One of the trains got stuck as it was trying to get back in the station. Those of us in the next train, sat and waited for about 10 minutes before they got the other train going, and let us back in. From that point on (was an hour before close), there was literally no line the rest of the night. Oh, Renegade seems to be getting more air time than when it first opened.. it seemed then you had some small, short pops of air. Now it seems they are bigger and longer. So if you're going to be there at closing, enjoy your quick trips! Oh, check out the IMAX showing of Dolphins when you're there. That was pretty good. p.s. The brakes on High Roller have made it so there is only one small hill, on the very back near the station, that you seem to get any air on.. VF has ruined this once very fun coaster with all it's trimming! -

From that article, it might be they want to keep adding rides and increasing the quality. I think they will need a lot more visitors to the park though before they risk spending the money. Kind of a catch 22.. The number of visititors is also limited since the park is in the middle of Kansas, without a lot of large population areas near enough to pull people from. I doubt people from K.C. will generally leave that area to go spend the weekend at a park in Wichita. People here in MN leave to go to Wis Dells for a weekend, but that's only because it has a TON to offer. Wichita does not. -

^I rode sidewinder at Adventureland, and agree, it is a pretty fun ride. Those that haven't been on one, give it a try! (Wherever you may find one.) -

Yup, I believe most schools were out as of this past Friday. So you probably will have minimal lines. (Though High Roller and Corkscrew will probably only be running 1 train because of that.) Good luck! -

That's great if they get a good GCI Coaster. Maybe they'll get something like Renegade. If they do, they'll be in good shape. -

This is a sad park.. more like a small traveling fair than a theme park. But hopefully they'll keep at it and grow and make something out of it. I agree with others that they REALLY need a good coaster. At least they'll get people to drive thousands of miles for the credit that way. -

Bob, if you're going and there aren't 70 buses of school kids, you'll probably be fine on the lines. Try to get to Renegade quick when it opens, you can get a few rides in before the lines get longer. On a typical day (not loaded with school trips), you can ride Wild thing nearly as many times as you like. The Giant swing and the Power Tower Drop might also be good to hit early, as those lines can be longer throughout the day. You can always get on Excalibur without any real lines, any time of the day. If they only have 1 train running for High Roller, expect a 20-30 minute wait at most. Weekends are a bit busier, and you could have up to a 20 minute wait on Wild Thing. (Though it's too trimmed now to be totally enjoyable like it used to be, but it can still have some good air.) The monster for some reason has had shorter lines when I've been there, so maybe people have grown tired of riding it? Even with 70 buses of kids there the other day, you only had a 1 or 2 ride wait. Steel Venom had been running moderate lines on busy days, only 10-15 minute wait. The water park is best when done when it first opens.. shortest lines. But the waits are maybe 10-20 minutes at most anyway. -
Odd that you said Renegade just kind of petered out.. When I rode it the first weekend it opened, it maintained speed throughout the ride and was a blast every time I rode it. (About 10 times) And that passby was pretty quick and fun. I hope they didn't trim that thing! But it wouldn't surprise me. I might head out there tonight and see how it's riding now. Jerry, (if you're reading this), you rode it the other day, was it running slower?

So Steel, what did you think of the coasters? Were you able to get lots of rides before the storm? I was at Valleyfair once in a Tornado Warning. They had us down in a ditch behind the park. -

After 20 rides the other day on Patriot, in many places on the train, I'd say the best spot on Patriot was on the front row, on one of the outer seats. (Well, the outer seats on nearly every row seemed to be slightly more fun than the inside seats) The back was also fun, but if you were in an outer seat, and not on the front row, I didn't notice that much difference between the rows, except for maybe how much G forces you felt on the first loop. -

Well, this guy actually sent empty rows because he wasn't paying attention. When I pointed it out to him, he blamed people not getting in the row when he let them in. (People get in line for the front queue to ride the front seat, or the back, or wherever.) He really wasn't paying attention. He was looking all around and trying to appear cool, doing everything but look at where people were in the queues. It was not a maintenance issue. It was an idiot issue who didn't care how long it took people to get on the ride. He counted 28 people to go in and that was all he did. He didn't even attempt to notice if there were open queues or not. He probably was never trained to actually try to work effectively. Who knows. -

^ You said remove all the trim. I just said to remove half of it, knowing there is no way they are going to remove all the trim. No biggie. -

^ Well, we all wish that! I was just trying to be a bit more realistic. I don't understand why they continually trim down rides.. I'm sure they will say it is something to do with safety, but there has to be a happy medium somewhere in there! I wish they'd find it. Wild Thing is running too slow as well. -

You mean the other train for High Roller still WORKS?! I thought it rotted away years ago! Yes, I too was amazed by that.. It really works and was running! They really need to have 2 trains running much more frequently. High Roller can still be a fun ride. Though I wish they'd take off about half that trim brake at the first big turn.. It really reduces the fun on the return, and you don't get much air until you're nearly back to the station. -

I can't imagine many rides being worse than the back of the Timberwolf was.. It was like riding in a sideways jackhammer.. Ugh. The front was reasonable though, and worth doing. I notice they still have a lot of open land at WoF.. anyone know of any future plans on what they might build there? I hadn't been to WoF in 12 years and the park had sure changed a lot! But was surprised that the area around it hadn't really changed that much.
