  1. And I don't want to re-visit visit Holiday World because my favorite wooden coaster is *allegedly* crap. Although I love Raven and Legend and Wildebeest, I'm not going to drive 3.5 hours to get my ass kicked. But I still love you, Holiday World
  2. Haunt website is now live! https://www.visitkingsisland.com/haunt
  3. I was getting excited for a dark ride. Soooo when are they going to do a Iron re-do of Mean Streak? It's going to happen eventually. They'd be stupid not to do it.
  4. I was there that night, I figured that was what was going on. Yup, you can see the lights on the trains were working. Fun to look at, not so much fun to ride.
  5. Millennium Force had some really great sustained air over the hills the other day, more than I remembered; especially over the 180ft hill. I love the return hill from the island. So floaty. Maverick is absolutely wild.
  6. Damn, that wasn't the case for me ): And I'm an average build guy too.
  7. This is such a great photo TR, and really takes me back to the 2009 trip in Texas! Marcel you're the showcase TPR member, I can feel the fun vibes from your trip through your photos - nothing but positive, beaming happiness in this report! I can't wait for more! Just made my day that much better.
  8. Row four just has longer seatbelts. But to me, row 2 the "fixed" row just felt like my rides on Wild Eagle or X Flight.
  9. Went to the Point for the first time in 3-4 years, I'll post a report later but just some Gatekeeper thoughts. The front entrance is very refreshed and nice looking, a lot more open so it doesn't bottleneck. I like the plaza for the ride as well. I actually thought the best part of the ride was the inversion next to the keyhole; had a nice little snap to it. But it rattled/bounced unlike X Flight or Wild Eagle (Which were both very smooth) and Gatekeeper was pretty smooth in row 2, bouncy/rattle-y in row 4, and really uncomfortably rattle-y in the back row. It didn't matter the inside or outside seat The ride just kind of shakes you, so you shimmy down further into your seat so the restraints can boa-constrict tighter against you from what I experienced. My most pleasant experience is row 2. It's a beautiful project and looks very nice, is fun to take pictures of; but I'm not happy with it, especially compared to my other fun rides I've had on Wild Eagle and X Flight. I'm not going to hold the vest off of my chest for the whole ride; I shouldn't have to do that, I want to be able to put my arms up and have fun! Sigh. I really hope Banshee's restraints aren't bad like these next year. It sucks because I want to ride the ride, but I'll come off it complaining; I love the keyhole, the immelmans, etc because it's something different and it's got a fantastic location. But that back row ride I had was one of the worst coaster experiences I've had in the last couple years. Overall I'd give it a 3.5/10. If I was comfortable the whole ride it'd be a 6/10.
  10. Hopefully their PR department is just throwing us for a loop and it won't have some dumbass name like Goliath or Titan. SF Great America doesn't deserve that! Ahh screw it, if it's an El Toro clone, I wouldn't care if it's called Grape Flavored Chewy Money Maker.
  11. It's so close between: Viper ERT on Great America Bash with TPR. And my latest rides at night on Raging Bull a month ago, but I loved Bull so much I voted for it. One of the best first drops ever!!!
  12. This looks really fun! I really liked all the near misses on X Flight so this ride should deliver.
  13. Well Outlaw Run's got a what...162ft drop, and is 68mph? I bet if Rocky Mountain builds a coaster with a little pre drop like Outlaw Run has and chucks the train over a 165ft tall 170ishft drop, no problem will Great America have the fastest wooden coaster; by a slim margin. Only so Six Flags can break the record in another 2 years at different park
  14. I can't even tell if you're being serious. The reason why responses like this are so ridiculous is because the stupid thing has been built for years now, why should ANYONE be surprised by the height/size/layout? It was always meant as a family coaster. And it should be obvious that they're doing it for the love of it, not because they're worried about how much business they're going to attract. Are you seriously comparing it to a new marquee attraction at Universal, as of the two have anything to do with each other at all? Or are you doing your best impression of all the dumb Facebook commentators? Because if so you forgot to add some spelling mistaeks. I know it's a family coaster, I'm not saying it should be massive. I'm just saying since it took them so long to build this thing I was expecting a bit more; it looks like the same ride that was in the 2011 video? And yes I'm comparing it to a big boost in attendance. I know they're doing it for the love of the ride, but if they're working on a project for ..how long? 3-4 years, I'm sure they want to bring in more people and sell more tickets. The ride does look wild at some points, and I LOVED La Vibora at SFOT, but hey one of the things I love most is ride duration; so maybe that's why I'm not biting at this ride.
  15. Back in like, 2007 or something it was a normal day at Kings Island. I was having a decent time with my friends and we decided to take a ride on the Beast as it was getting dark outside, like any normal person would do at the park. Usually people go for the front seat but my friends wanted to go for the quickest way aboard so we ended up in the last car. The ride jackhammered so bad, the restraint dug into my rib cage and rattled me to death, when I got back to the station it was seriously the one and only time I felt like I needed medical assistance after riding a ride. Worse than any Son of Beast ride. It was absolutely awful and up until this year I hadn't rode in the last car!
  16. Not to rag on the ride....but it's seriously small and a short ride. It does look wild for a bit; bit it reminds me a bit of a mine coaster with the first lift hill and such. Why invest all that time into for that? It's cool to recreate the wood..but for the result? Ehh....I don't think the trade off is there. Are they going to see a boost in attendance that ...say Universal got from Harry Potter? I don't think so!
  17. This is tough. Because really I say Raging Bull, Diamondback, and Goliath are all about even in my book. I rode Top Gun/Afterburn in 2004. Raptor too. I've been on 5 different Batman clones, many are different. One was backwards, I've been on Mantis, Scorcher, and the Carowinds Stand Up. So I'd have to say it's between Afterburn and Goliath and Raging Bull. It's tough to say.
  18. Since I had kind of been waiting to re-visit Holiday World for Voyage with the Timberliners, I'm pretty shocked that this whole thing has been thrown out. BUT. Coming 2014, it'll be years and it'll be too long since I've been there and I'll have to visit. So I'll have to visit. I'm disappointed. Not blaming anyone here, but I'm pretty confused.
  19. "Judging by the POV" Is a great way to start off a post.
  20. I love the Jiggity trip report! I'm so sad to hear you guys had a bad time at SFOT; we all had an amazing time on the 2009 Texas trip and it was really my favorite park in the chain along with SFOG. I was trying to comprehend what could make the park go from beautiful, hospitable, friendly, efficient, and downright fun....too....what you described! I mean...Six Flags has to be reading what Robb and Elissa are saying, they should take notice. I loved SFOT to death; each coaster was fantastic. Even La Vibora! Only the drop tower sucked
  21. Seatbelts don't mean no airtime. You still feel negative g forces if the restraint is flush against your body. Love that stomach in your throat feeling that Maverick provides multiple times!
  22. Awesome, thanks for the feedback everyone! Yeah that's unfortunate about the food...I know there's one place at Kings Island where you can get 15 wings for 9 bucks. It's a STEAL for not having to leave the park. And it's in the beer garden. Can't wait to ride some Intamin rides.
  23. Jo and I will be going on the 22nd and the 23rd. A Thursday and Friday. Will kids be in school then? What are the best places to eat at? I haven't been in 3-4 years...any rides lost their touch/gotten rough? Suggestions on where to ride which rides?
  24. Getting started early this cold morning!
