  1. I was about to suggest how the "Zego G Downdrop" would be a really attractive view from outside the park... looks good if that's the real deal.
  2. Oh, crap. Sorry to hear that! What a crotchety fun sucker. There are TPR members in the Cincy area, sorry none of them are reaching out! There used to be a stronger presence in Cincy.
  3. Your friend won't drop you off? It's right off the major highway, I71 so it's pretty easy to get to from any part of Cincinnati. From downtown it should only be a 25 minute drive unless you're near rush hour. (Traffic will start building between downtown and KI around 3:30) And there's a convenient drop off area. And you could buy a ticket online, drink water, and get a snack in the park for less than 50 bucks, I believe. Throw your friend 50 bucks! It's pretty expensive to rent a car, and time consuming. I'd use that as a last resort. Try downloading Uber or Lyft (personal Taxi apps, I'm sure you've heard of), too. You get 20 bucks off your first ride if you're a new member.
  4. Honestly, I had a good time when I visited for the first time last year. Of course the operations were pretty shitty, and I swear 75% of the staff only spoke Russian. I tried going to the exit of Hades to ask if I could be a single rider and had the most difficult time trying to explain what I was asking before giving up. But yeah, that slingshot made me stop and stare for a moment. Is it an older model? I hadn't seen one like it before. It just looked sketchy, the way the cables bounced all over the place. I've ridden the one at KI and that freaked me out, but it looked like a standard model. The one at Mt. O just looked outdated and freaky. -Zach
  5. Honestly why not? Who cares? You can ride Banshee barefoot, you can ride Rougarou, Raptor, Wicked Twister and Gatekeeper barefoot... what kinds of hazerdous things exist on Diamondback or the Diamondback platform that make this policy necessary? If that's truly what's holding up dispatches then I don't get it, and honestly you should be able to ride this ride barefoot as for many people their feet don't touch the floor and they could probably lose them. I don't blame the ride ops for that if they're just doing their jobs, and maybe there's a reason for it that I just don't understand because I'm not an operations expert but I'm really curious as to what that reason could possibly be. The reson I was told when I worked Diamondback is that if the ride broke down and you had to walk down the lift/stairs, you need shoes. The steps could cut bare feet since they're grooved to give you more traction when walking up 200+ feet. You wouldn't want smooth non traction steps, that's dangerous! It's as simple as that. Oh come on Coasterbill...that's just silly haha. Carrying a bunch of shoes and sandals up to the MCBR/lift and auctioning them off...lmao
  6. One of our summer projects. I had time today and got halfway through 2013. We still have 30 pages of threads to review for the reminder of 2013 and 2014 to catch up. Thanks for the reply, Larry! I know it's time consuming.
  7. Met a guy from China on the bus today...we had a great time going through this report and talking about the theme parks and national parks. Thanks so much for posting!
  8. Will the Trip Report Archive be updated anytime soon? It's cool to check out older trip reports - but it'd be nice if there was a solid collection from the years after 2012!
  9. Rode Goliath for the second time..this time in the back seat. Amazing! What a strange ride. But wow some phenomenal airtime moments.
  10. Yes, there is one. To the left of Admission where Invertigo's lift hill spikes are.
  11. I'm going on Friday in the morning for a ride on Goliath (hopefully) since I've only had one ride on it last year. I bailed in the line opening weekend at 10am since it was all the way back to Am Eagle with one training. Nooooope.
  12. I love Diamondback, but he's absolutely right about the crew. Painfully award winning slow. If I was at a park and every other ride was a near walk on, I'd probably be skipping the ride with the hour wait as well. I'd go nuts in that line haha
  13. When, exactly? By all accounts, it seems like Cedar Point, Canada's Wonderland, and Valleyfair are all on the short list for a coaster. I mean you can't take anything you "hear in the break room" as a fact. Both pre-Diamondback and pre-Banshee I had heard higher ups talking about a "Leviathan" style coaster.
  14. Viper can get a pretty big line around hurricane harbors opening and closing time, and it doesn't move the quickest (2 train operation). The flumes get extremely crowded at midday S:UF should be ridden right after Goliath due to its slow loading- the shortest it'll be is right then If you see a large line for TDK come back later- it'll be short. Same goes for Whizzer and demon Vipers line is decieving. Once you get into the station you have another 15 minute wait. There never a grouper so there's always at least 10 people in each row. I always just stop and let multiple trains pass through til I decide my row Also, I prefer back on Viper and American Eagle Absolutely wrong in my experience at Viper. It's deceivingly short line. There's always been a grouper and even with the line spilling into the midway it was only30 minutes.
  15. LOL not what I meant to say I meant I packed food and saved money rather than buying the meals... I know it doesn't make sense, but a lot of my friends wouldn't believe me. I certainly wouldn't starve myself (I eat 2000-3000+calories a day, some days 4 meals, and can't gain weight bc of high metabolism and exercise). Lots of never before seen posts in the 10 years I've been on this site happening here in this thread. Selfies/getting someone to take a picture of you in front of Fury would have been enough proof. But these friends sound like a topic for the random thread. Maybe instead of saying the ride is 'rough' you could detail that you're skinnier and get thrown around in the seat during quick snaps. Great way to create lots of posts for your PTR though! Sorry you didn't have the best experience, but you sure had one of the most unique!
  16. We share the same opinion on pretty much everything. The potato patch was so overrated. You've got to go back for Black Widow. It's the best Frisbee ever created! Also the Noahs Ark attraction is unreal.
  17. That doesn't make any sense to me. I wish there was some consistency so the next time I go the park I know how early to show up ...
  18. I'm sorry, that inversion is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen.
  19. Kings Island used to have a set of speed slides - Fastracks - that the mat racer replaced. The tallest one used to scare me every time. I have painful memories of riding that slide. I also have joyous memories of being 10 years old and watching girls lose their tops pretty much every other slide. You had to be careful though, there are some uuuuuugly customers at Kings Island. #Lebanon #Ohio
  20. Maybe I'm biased since I grew up with Racer at Kings Island... Don't really care that they're closing Thunder Road. Not a memorable ride. Sure they all have some history, take it for what it is. I hope they add another wooden coaster eventually because Hurler was one of the worst coasters I've ridden... but yeah, you can pretty much get the same ride at any other park that features a 30 year old racing coaster. It goes out, it turns around, it comes back. Meh.
  21. The park had (3) Schlitterbahn style slide/lazy river combos, but unfortunately they took one out for this mat racer. They've got a pretty good line up and the big speed slide. Kings Island needs a classic massive speed slide to get me to return. Great Wolf Lodge is actually the best waterpark in Cincinnati...it as an INCREDIBLE proslide coaster complete with a pre drop before the first drop to absolutely launch you out of the raft.
  22. Oh, by the way - the Beach waterpark (The waterpark across the street from Kings Island) got a new mat racer for 2015 http://www.thebeachwaterpark.com/rides-attractions/real-thrill/ Historically, when the Beach gets new slides, so does Kings Island. Pretty much it's the only competition around. It's certainly a better waterpark with more diverse slides and atmosphere. Kings Island's waterpark thrives simply because it's free with the theme park admission and they continue to slap new paint on the slides to hide the old appearance. But honestly, ride the slides and you'll feel the fiberglass in your back. When living in Cincinnati, I would really only visit the waterpark once every two years or so...since the addition of Diamondback, the increase in attendance has overcrowded the waterpark. Even when adding a second wavepool, there's still a lack of space to put your stuff down unless you're one of the first ones there. Kings Island's slides are mostly from 1989 but coated in new paint (aside from the ProSlide tornado and 4 lane mat racers from 2004). Yes, their last slide addition was 11 years ago. So hopefully they will add on for 2016. For the most part their slides are shit capacity since the slides they originally built were for a park with probably half the daily attendance that it draws in today.
  23. I honestly didn't know KD had a waterpark. Never saw any pictures of it! I really hope Kings Island gets a similar addition..
  24. I would call the park. You get your pass processed as you enter the gates. Just like you're normally going into the park, they scan your fingerprint and print your card in less than 30 seconds. Also, you have the buy the 19.76 discount online and only online. So I'd call the park so you don't get screwed out of 50 bucks. Bless you, good luck at the park.
