  1. Fantastic review of a less traveled park. I forgot about all of the new additions they are bringing in to the near future. Can't wait to read more! -Zach
  2. Sundays there are no haunted houses open. Sundays are great for riding the coasters as there are usually no lines. Friday is great for Haunts + Rides and you likely won't need a FL. I'm sure it wouldn't take much research to see when the local high school prom nights are - go during those weekends. FL for Haunt is cheaper than the attractions FL, but I'm 99% sure the Haunt FL is only valid 1 per haunt, you know the hole punch per haunt style.
  3. Great report! The NE is a foreign place to me, so I'm happy to see a trip report and story from your trip. Can't wait for more!
  4. So all of a sudden numerous people are coming forward saying that "my restraint come off/didn't work/broke" while on the ride? I guess they've been holding this information back until now since it sounds like no one told the operator/park at the time that it happened during this season/last season!
  5. Amazing that people still ask if they need/should buy a Fastpass with one day weekend trips. The answer will always be an emphatic YES.
  6. Omg this amazing. Even though I've got 3 weeks before my trip, I saw the news and was worried it'd be down for a month.
  7. You're a sterling member of this site and a great man, Coasterbill. Love the reports!
  8. Thanks! And yeah, it's not that it's bone-shakingly rough, but it has a number of jarring direction changes that, unless you can see them coming, give you a kind of whiplash effect. I had a pretty good idea of what the track did before riding and yet it still nailed me a few times. Perhaps a front-seat ride is the way to go to get a clearer idea of the turns, but FoF had seat allocation and on both rides and I got stuck toward the back. It is a ride that I'd check out at a different park though if I had the opportunity. Great report, and thanks for the detailed reviews. I agree KI has a few hits (Bat is underrated!) but most of the rides are getting older and more rough. I visited 2 weeks ago for then first time since Oct 2014, and didn't feel compelled to ride Firehawk, Invertigo, Flight of Fear, or Vortex, or Backlot. Rides like Invertigo and Firehawk haven't been visited in 5+ years probably. Not sure how the park is going to go about updating these attractions, but they've got a handful of coasters that need to be replaced.
  9. Okay, I'll bite. What did you do between the morning and 330?
  10. Right..can't think of any reason why this coaster would be the one designed for VR. Maybe they'll plan one for Michigan's adventure since it's in the middle of a field, right?
  11. You know what? Screw the RMC, tear it down and build their own Splash Mountain/Chiapas/WildWildWest. There's my vote.
  12. This is terrible advice. Do not listen to this person. Go hard or go home. Seriously though, you need to ride it in the front and draw your own conclusions. It's okay in every seat (unlike Kingda Ka) but It's absolutely mind blowing in row 1. One or two people might disagree but very few people would deny that riding Kingda Ka or Top Thrill Dragster in row 1 is infinitely better than in any other row. Some may not do it based on wait time, but you need to experience it and decide for yourself. Agreed. It was my last visit that I rode MF, TTD, Raptor in the front seat for the first time, rather than the back seat. I have to say that I prefer the front! Although the back for MF and Raptor's first drop are great. I still do like TTD in the back a lot because of the crawl over the top and then the whip straight down. Yes, please staple me in because it's terrifying to have any wiggle room at that point!!! Excited to try Gatekeeper, Rougarou, and Magnum in the front row this coming trip
  13. Thanks! I can't really remember having issues with them in the past, but I haven't gone later in the season before. Really excited to try out Maverick with the new restraints even though I never had a problem with the ride. I've been using coasterbill's "front seat and lean forward" method since 2007. I really think the front is better than the back! Mantis -> Rougarou is a welcome change, and I'm happy to hear that it isn't drawing in too long of a line. I'm doing three days at the park, so I'm interested to see what little things I'll see differently or try at the park. Never been to the waterpark, but I'll check it out since we have Soak City free with the tickets. Never done the rapids ride as well, so I'll hit up all the water rides before the waterpark. ...which is really just the rapids and shoot the shoot, haha. I hope they invest in a traditional log flume sooner than later.
  14. Also, I can't find a legit answer on when the Mayfly season is over. I'll be there the last week of August...will I have to worry about the bugs still? Thank you!!!
  15. Oh and pro tip... go to the front (left) station when you wait for the front. You get a great view of the ride and a nice breeze which makes the queue experience much less boring and much more comfortable. I'm not sure if I have ever gone left....I love going to the right so I can watch the train ahead of me launch! Such a cool view.
  16. You are correct. Haha thought so. Maybe they'll come up with a new category again. Mean Streak is one of those rides at CP that I haven't ridden in multiple visits. I'd honestly spend my time riding other coasters. I'm happy to see they're going to do something with the structure/space. Really hoping for them to go all out on this project.
  17. Wasn't Maverick marketed as a "terra coaster"?
  18. The below are/were spectacular: Giant Drop @ Dreamworld, AU Acrophobia @ SFOG Black Widow @ Kennywood Battle for Metropolis @ Local Six Flags Indiana Jones @ Disneyland Grizzly River Rapids @ Disneyland Cali Adventure Log Flume @ Sea World San Antonio (RIP) Wild Wild West (flume) @ Movie World Australia Tower of Terror @ You Know Tomb Raider:TR @ Kings Island (RIP)
  19. You're 15 so we understand. You're 14 so we understand. Yes, because assuming that the only reason people might be disappointed in a new roller coaster's layout is because they're teenagers is so mature. Well, its the culmination of the reason I personally feel for younger people to be disappointed. At that age I wanted "bigger faster" but as I got older I learned that some of the best coasters I would consider the best, would have not been considered the best when I was their age. At that age, its kinda hard to appreciate some coasters that that age group takes for granted. Easy, I'm a bit disappointed as well. KI has a massive collection of low to mid range thrill rides, and I really thought that this ride and location was going to be used for something special. Sure Banshee and Diamondback are newer, but their other thrill coasters (FoF, Firehawk, Invertigo, Vortex, Bat) are all old and busted. Who came up with Mystic Timbers? Really? Ugh.. the name of the coaster leaves me thinking WTF. I'm sure it'll be a fun ride, but I was hoping for Cedar Fair to do something unique and take a step out of the typical playblook. Not hurrying back to KI for this addition.
  20. Trying to pick between Aug 20-24 for Aug 27-31. Gotta believe the later in August the better, right? Anyone go during similar dates last year? Any locals know of events going on at CP that should be noted? Looks like they're offering a ticket special "Last Blast of Summer", so that should be a good indication that it should be slow.
  21. Stand ups aren't comin' back, so go visit SFOG. Who's got final predictions? RMC 160' 65 mph 0 inversions, features 6 White Water Canyon crossovers 3500' long, making KI have most wood track in one park Hoping RMC, but it could be GCI.
  22. It's a unanimous yes, get the P Fast Pass. I don't believe you'll find anyone that thinks you can conquer the park with a few re-rides without it. Unfortunately it's the norm today.
  23. I imagine the final wing over does a good job at keeping you from passing out with a check to the jaw if you're not watching out
  24. Another great chapter! Can't wait for the next. -Zach
