  1. Yeah, I'm not a 'ONG, I need that credit!!!" guy. If I had the chance to ride Goliath instead of getting on the mine train...I'd take the Goliath ride. It may not make sense to some, but I know I'm a credit disgrace! Oh and Robb, I did get that Aussie Reptar credit! That doesn't meen I'm not going to hit up the mine train...I like those! I meant like a kiddie credit or something, now that my brothers are older and don't go near those.
  2. I'm pretty sure I said somewhere I'm going the first week in June: 06/07 or 08. It's open 10:30 to 8PM. I made sure it's going to be open
  3. Thanks for the advice to far, guys. I think that we're going to plan on leaving around mid-day thursday and getting into Atlanta/place close to SFOG that night. It should be about an eight hour drive. My family just wouldn't be able to get up at 3-4 in the mprning to go to a theme park. The biggest issue was staying two nights in a hotel, but I keep reminding my parents that we got the tickets for free, so yeah. Does SFOG have a skyride/chair lift? I love those And how's Goliath this year? I've heard the trim is on a bit harder than usual. Also, it looks like if you're not on an outside seat on any B&M hyper ('cept for the front row) the only view you're going to get is of the seat infront of you. Is that true? Where to sit?
  4. Hey guys! On our annual vacation to Hilton Head Island, we've had previous stops at Carowinds on the way down. But since our "gold passes" no longer get us free admission, we're able to get some tickets to SFOG! I've never been there, but I've heard a LOT of great things about the park. There are two possibilites on how we're going to go. -All day Friday -2 or 3PM until 8PM Now, I know there are options for fast passes, but with possibly five hours in the park? I doubt that's possible. Maybe at Carowinds, but doubtful for the first week of June at SFOG. Given I have the possibility to go all day friday, what should I expect the crowds to be like? I'd love to go to Goliath first, but I know they have rides like Superman that have a lower capacity. I've heard a little bit about the locker policies, but my mom wouldn't be riding the big coasters: but where would they be strict about things in cargo pockets? Where's the best/cheapest place to eat? I know about Acrophobia as the highlight flat ride; but what else do they have? Where are the best places to sit on the coasters? Oh, and who wants to meet up? -J "Thanks in advanced for the info" Z
  5. It's really not that hard...
  6. Yup, it's like just because you've got a $5,000 guitar doesn't mean you can play! I've taken plenty of other shots I've absolutely loved with my other pocket cameras.
  7. Does anyone else think that Rita/clones could have gone with the normal T-Bar?
  8. Yeah, that pic was from pre-opening day. And yeah, usually the cans are like that before they are moved apart and stuff.
  9. I'm hoping it's just the staff putting out the cans to spread them out even further. Sometimes those can weight a ton!
  10. Check out KIC's pics from opening day and pre-opening day! Into the woods we go! That's a pretty darn big workspace. "You've got to have the right tools for the job, Beavis"... "....heavy machinery rules!" Looking up to the ET The acer attendance has already increased. I think I like the billboard better than the other one. No more Laura Croft... And red to the other. I better see racing! We now have Blue to one side... A classic upgrade? CF requires....MORE CANS!
  11. Hahaha yeah, he did. It was a really funny show, I wish I had my camera back...I taped the show on it!
  12. Some of my favorite artists on that list. Jimi has some great stuff, of course. I'm a big fan of Santana, always love to hear him. He makes Chad Kroeger sound good! I've always loved Pete Townsend. BB King does great blues, especially when accompanied with Eric Clapton. Eddie is original with has tapping, I have respect. I love Tony Iommi! Old school metal rocks! Tom Morello is alright, his scratching sounds cool...but I couldn't listen to him over and over... I'm also a fan of: -Zakk Wylde -Synyster Gates -Tom Petty And Malcom Young is the best rhythm guitarist, IMO.
  13. Yeah, most were shut down about a week, but Drop Zone got a cable upgrade and was down nearly a month. But after that, it had many problems. That's rare for DZ.
  14. Drop Zone had a lot of breakdowns where the ride stopped half way up and I can't remember how it turned out, I think it was a manual drop. They also had a few problems with the cables, I can't find my pics. I don't think SoB will be any different than last year.
  15. Ride ops improved? Where? I really don't see a difference. Last year was pretty normal. The only thing I thought was improved was: Halloween Haunt. Negatives: -TR:TR down 1/2 season -Rides consistently opening 15-45 minutes after park opens -Drop Zone down quite a few times -SoB late opening -Prices for food and drinks up -Admission was up This year, I better see TR:TR open most of the time. I hope Drop Zone doesn't have any problems. SoB is unpredictable, IMO. It seems it can go fine, and then have some break down. This year admission is same, and prices for food/drink I haven't seen yet. My opinion of Firehawk. Sure, it's an alright coaster. Does it fit in KI? Let's check. Capacity ok or bad? Usually bad. ......Fits! Is it a good ride? It's fun. ......Fits! Frequent breakdowns? Yes. ....Fits! Sure, it's a fun ride. But with crappy operations, long lines, frequent break downs, I would rather them started on plans for '09 earlier. I'd take a cool flat I could ride a few times a day over Firehawk. With Firehawk, I'm lucky to get one ride. You need to worry about not only lines, but also maintenance. Firehawk broke down far more times than the other coasters. Again, when my Aussie friend was here for 6 weeks, we tried 3 times and it broke down every time. Including an employee party night!
  16. Thanks for the comments, I've really taken a liking to this camera and figured out how to really work it. I love how I can turn it from off to on and take a picture in seconds, I love to save battery and such like that.
  17. Here's a preview photo TR from KIC. I also see that they have a great new media center on the site, check it out. http://www.visitkingsisland.com/mediakit/index.html Great Photos, Tips, and....VIDEOS! Seriously, take a look! It's a garbage can holder. About 1/2 of what's visible from ground level. Please Cedar Fair, don't dissapoint. Oooo...better be something good. Color coded. Maybe they will serve Casey beer at 11AM? I see Raptor, and Corkscrew, and Paris, and oh! A second gen freefall! But no Pepsi! Hahahaha. Wes' favorite. Could be Jahan's. Does anyone care about this ride? Seriously! Hardly noticeable. Hate the name, alright look. New sign Ah, that looks better.
  18. Wow, thanks for the photos. I really like how Goliath looks, very flashy, very bright. But I could see how alot of others wouldn't like the color scheme.
  19. I, too hope that this isn't a B&M Dive machine. Don't get me wrong they do look like really fun rides, but that's about it at best. I'd much rather have a long, airtime filled hyper that doesn't rely on a few gimmick elements. But along with any other KI local, anything new is good.
  20. I agree with you on Maverick, but I'm sorry....how can you not be thrilled by Dragster? Or even call it boring? A 0-120 launch, flying straight up into the sky, then spiraling back down to earth. I just don't see how anyone could get off not have some sort of "thrill". IMO, I think it was built on Thrill, Records, and Fun. But hey, maybe riding it once or twice a year keeps it fresh.
  21. http://www.wlwt.com/video_legacy/15903956/index.html Here's a video SHOWING the new changes in the park! Signs, landscape...and CONSTRUCTION!
  22. Oh, I'm bringing this from the rumor super thread. Could we be seeing this at KI soon?
  23. My advice for a trip to KI: Yes, avoid weekends. Fridays tend to get busy around 3-4 in the summer. Saturdays are pretty bad, and Sundays can be just as worse. -Go during the week if possible. It's a huge turn around from the weekends. -Go on an overcast/chance of rain day. Only thing that closes is Firehawk. You can still go on FoF or Crypt! The crowds are so much smaller. I'd go to Firehawk, FoF, BLSC, and Invertigo in that order. Or something like that. Fan of the Slingshot/Skyflier? Get tickets right when you enter, they will be at the lowest then. Remember people, your admission doesn't cover everything in the park! Ugh, I get b*tched at countless times when working at Days of Thunder. Vortex and Beast have nice, quick flowing lines. The rest of the rides are really mediocre 2 train ops. OH. Firehawk was usually behind schedule with opening on time...so be prepared for it to open about 30 minutes after the park opens. Eats? -Try Skyline Chili. One of the cheaper options for food. -Larosas pizza is pretty darn good. -Festhaus now has a nice variety of foods, along with the new Orient Express? Yeah, I think that's the one. It's also a nice place to chill out and take a break. -BLUE ICE CREAM! It's in Nick U. It seems to be a favorite with guests, but I'm just meh about it. And the most important info. Where to sit on the coasters?! -Adventure Express: You can get some nice whipy turns in the front and back. I'm more of a front seat guy for this ride. -Beast: FRONT SEAT!!! For God sakes, don't go near the back! You'll get smashed and turned to puddin'. The front is the best way to ride this coaster, period. -Backlot Stunt: I can go for the front or the back. Usually go for the backseat in the cars because the windshield SUCKS. -Fairly Odd Coaster: Wherever you can fit. -FoF: I'd go for the front. You can THROWN around on this! It's intense! Oh, and AWESOME corkscrew at the end provides a cool zero-g sensation. -Firehawk: Front is the best IMO. But you might not have a choice. They want to fill every row. -Flight Deck: Hmm...the front gives a nice sense of speed, but the back has a small pop of air on the first drop. -Invertigo: Either front or back; it's the same experiance. I've always had a good ride on this. Rarely having a rough ride. -Racer: It's a toss up for me. On the Blue Racer (former Forewards racer) you either have a normal ride, or a rough ride. I'd go for the front to be safe. On the Red Racer (former backwards) I had a good ride 90% of the time. Back is where I am! -SoB: Alright, this has changed every time I ride. One time I had a good ride in the back; not to bad, some nice airtime! Other times, it was hell. Same goes with the front.......good luck! -Vortex: My sweet seat is the second to last car; front seat. Never fails me. Nice airtime over the drop, quick whips on the inversions. Can't go wrong with the front, either!
  24. Hey guys! I got it today! It's a very nice camera. Light weight, small size, but too big/valuable to put in a cargo pocket. Unfortunately, it's got a few blemishes on the lense and viewing hole...thing. So I'm sending it back and getting one for a cheaper price! Yay! Here are some pics I took with it.
