  1. There is no longer anyone trying to take over that park.
  2. ^^I agree with Elissa.....the coaster could easily open in June, July, August, as soon as any outstanding permits are finished...cant take till next year to do it....I do like the comment made earlier that it could be financial and the funds used for finishing it might have had to be reallocated. SFI did set a goal for a new coaster for each of its parks for its 40th anniversary next year....since that is no longer the case, perhaps they are pushing Mr. Six's coaster for the anniversary next year....who knows...
  3. For those who dont know...the stats translate into: 116 meters = 380 feet 90 meters = 295 feet
  4. I really dont mind the train wraps....its extra money for the parks, which they need....its no difference than the bus wraps on public transportation, or video billboards, or the huge advertising wraps on the casinos here in Vegas, or the massive billboards all over the buildings in Hollywood by the Chinese Theatre....you wont even realize them after awhile....besides, they help cover up all the nicks and scrapes and ugliness that already exists on most of the coaster trains....
  5. If I am not mistaken, I believe I have seen photos of Wild Woods or one of its sister piers in New Jersey with a Tagada on it. Although the picture was sorta old, probably 1980's or so.I am sure they took it our for insurance reasons.
  6. I showed up one saturday in early NOV to get my first rides on Terminator...I was the first person on the train...and the only person for that matter for the first three rides....I thoroughly enjoyed the coaster, the speed was great, the layout was actually really goos(wished it was longer though)....I think it turned out to be a great addition to the park!
  7. I think the blue and black is great...very nice!
  8. ^^^The last location of the rollercoaster was a warehouse in northern texas where the coaster was being refurbished.....not sure if it is currently still there....but it is definitely no longer at SFNO
  9. This is truly sad...a shame that they couldn't save this gem!
  10. I think its a great idea! I have my 40 bucks ready right now!
  11. ^^ Harrah's has half the workforce due to the recession.....most likely not for any other reason! The same goes for MGM Mirage and the Venetian and Wynn Resorts!
  12. It will be interesting to see if the Apollo group has any conflicting entities that will go against the current properties.....they own so much, something has to be connected somehow......MGM/Mirage Corp bought the 5 Mandalay Resort properties here in Las Vegas for 1 reason only, and that was because they wanted the Mandalay Bay convention center....thats all.....but they had to buy the whole package....close to 8 billion......just because they wanted the convention center at one of the properties.....perhaps this deal with Apollo could be similar....time will tell when everything comes out....
  13. The price tag is very low....but remember, they are also acquiring the billion plus dollars in debt.....so, they actually are paying close to 2 billion....which is still low....
  14. Harrah's has not shut down any of its casinos....yet. They are planning to acquire Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino here in Las Vegas.....Harrahs also happens to be in debt though by over 20 billion dollars.
  15. It was awesome....they do plan on doing it for future movies as well
  16. On Tuesday, a friend of mine and I had the privilege of seeing the "Princess and the Frog" during a special viewing at Walt Disney Studios. This is the first time the studio has opened the grounds to a viewing of upcoming releases as well as of touring. Supposedly, the park is not open for public tours and that my tour group was the very first EVER for the park(correct me if I am wrong please). For starters, we LOVED the movie - classic animation, conflict and triumphs, great villain and a VERY GOOD soundtrack. After being escorted into the grounds, we parked and followed the green frog feet thru the park and into the movie theatre. From here, we entered one of the oldest sound stages(where 20.000 Leagues was filmed) for a New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration, with Princess Floats, Carnival games, and LOTS of archived props from different movies. Tours were then being given every 20 mins or so of all the old animation buildings, the Disney Corporate headquarters and the archival building itself. It was a great experience that I will definitely do again. Basically, the event is by invite only, or those who belong to any of the Disney clubs. Enjoy the pics, and oh yeah, theres hot chicks(though I am not sure of their ages, so dont sue me) The Water Tower...I looked for Whakko, Yakko and Dot, but couldn't find them up there....oh sorry...that was Warner Bros... Pirate booty props The Man and the Mouse Dani and I with Mickey Walkway thru the studios Entrance to sound stage for Mardi Gras Carnival games PIRATES PIRATES cannon Cruella Enchanted's Prince Edward's outfit Davy's chest Davy Jones Pipe Current animation building Water Tower TRON hat in the archival building Mary Poppins hat in the archival building Walt's hats in the archival building In the archival building. In the archival building. Roy's hand prints The Disney Empire's Corporate Headquarters Animation building....were it all started.... Sorcerer Mickey 101 Dalmatians original sketches Backside of building Inking and Painting building....raw drawings would be taken here to be colorized Camera building....where the final Cells would be taken to be filmed Walt's office! Examples of Floats Beauty and the Beast Princess Tiana Mulan Float....again, very pretty girls Cinderella Float Pocahontas Float Snow White Float
  17. How about they bring back old attractions to be part of your Disney Cruise experience. They can redevolp the Rocket Rods to move people around the boat or how about the House of the Future used as either suites or some hip nightclub perched high atop the ship...like the Carnival Cruise ships....of course, you need to have the Orange Stinger back, and how about the Country Bear Jamboree for the theatre attraction....cruise ships always use smaller boats to ferry the passengers to dock when they enter the smaller ports like Cozumel, lets say....so why not bring back the old submarines for that purpose....and of course, to top it all off, lets resurrect Michael Jackson to Captain the ship...Captain EO!!!!! Disney ship
  18. I strongly commend Six Flags for doing this. What a wonderful surprise and gift for the people of Chicago. Is this the first time they have ever done anything like this in their history(the Park or the Chain)? For that matter, has any of the other chains done this either?
  19. No way in Hell would there be enough money on the face of the planet to pay me to walk or stand on the edge of a building like that.....and Looty, we dont have anything like that here in Vegas
  20. I asked the folks at Premier Rides today about the Coasting Car, and she told me that the back side of each car does swivel 9-12 inches right to left as the train is making turns on the track. You can see this mechaism that allows it to swivel on the back side of the car. It wasnt classified information for some secret new project, wanted to clear that up before I posted it. The inverted car on display is actually for a new childrens coaster.
  21. You can actually still see the turntable part in ninja's station for The Dragon. I have a question...I have never ridden the Galaxy or any of the similar ferris wheels(Great America, Astroworld, etc.) Were they thrilling?I figured since most(if not all) of the parks have torn theirs out, that they weren't big draws or they had LOTS of mechanical issues. I wish Intamin would bring them back. Would love to ride one. Second question, while viewing Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park recently, I noticed some sort of castle like structure that certain scenes were filmed in. Did this exist at the park? And where was it located?
  22. Madame Tussaud's in Las Vegas actually lets you get up and take pics with the wax figures, as well as touch them all you want.....but the Figures at the Hollywood Wax Museum look 100x better actually than Tussaud's.
  23. Robb, I totally agree with you on Carl's, jr and In-N-Out....I have just never understaood the hype behind In-N-Out...the burgers are boring as hell!
  24. Well, the writer does think that Colossus is the best wooden coaster at the park and would dare not compare Terminator to Colossus! Hmmmmm!
