Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride

Is it over, are there any other complaints the negative people have to say? If your not impressed, then dont go....PLEASE, DONT RIDE IT! That makes the line shorter for those of us who want to ride it..... -
First of all, it has nothing to do with you.....all in the planning.....been here for 12 years, been the frightdome since they started it basically....probably just more of the same old to me.....now, you all are about to have some serious competition from Bonnie Springs Ranch, who are putting on their own halloween festival this year.....they have 5 mazes, haunted trails, haunted ghost town, and a major carnival with close to 30 rides in it, and with what I have heard, some fairly large scale ones at that, as well as a drive in style movie theatre showing classic horror movies all night long.....hopefully, this will be a serious KICK-ASS event.

I think the 5 bucks is a steal.....whats the big deal? Think how lucky all of you have it anyway.....you pay the regualr park admission(excluding passholders) plus 5 bucks for the mazes....depending on the park your at, you get up to 15 coasters, all the flat rides, and 3-5 haunted houses.....here in Vegas, we pay up to 40 bucks admission to the adventuredome, get the same boring ass houses year after year(wait, I think this year we are getting a new house) and 1 mediocre arrow looper, and a few other run of the mill flat rides......hmmmmm, I would rather be in your positions than in ours.

Denver's Lakeside and Adventure Golf

Not sure what the speed was on those racers, but they were hella fast, thats for sure.....Lakeside is a beautiful and neglected park, and yeah, did ride the train....it was VERY old.....the park just oozes with history, and I would love to see better days for it... -
This past week, I was in Denver visiting friends and decided to get my credits at Lakeside Park, which I had not been to yet. We also spent the evening at Adventure Golf and Raceway, and rode the Dragster, which I am sure will be debated as to whether it is a "coaster" or not. Gonna start this update with Adventure Golf first, and let you make the decision. Adventure Golf and Raceway is a very nicely themed mini golf complex consisting of three very detailed golf areas, a go-kart racetrack, and the Dragster(which is what I am focusing on). Now, I am not sure of the manufacturer of the ride, but as you can see, the two racing cars are obviously on coaster tracks. The cars are basically large individual two seater coaster cars. To begin with, they are pulled backwards using a spring system, then released at great speed down the tracks till they decelerate by oposing springs at the end of the tracks, these springs slow down, then propel the cars in reverse till they are again slowed down, by the original springs, and so on and so on, until "catch" cars in the tracks eventually bring the cars back to their original position. I myself have never seen or ridden on this type of ride, and I am really not sure if they exist elsewhere; however, one caan argue that if Superman at Magic Mountain can be considered coasters, than so can these. Needless to say, the ride is fun, kinda what you would expect it to be, and fairly inexpensive if you include it in the ticket package with the mini-golf. Now, on to Lakeside Amusement Park, which we went too actually earlier in the day. Having never been to the park before, but having been told about it, I wasnt really that surprised with the outcome. Lemme say this first.....I think Lakeside Amusement Park is a jewel in the rough! The park is 100 years old this year. Yes the park is in a case of some decay, but, after really seeing the hidden architecture and personality and beauty of this park, I actually was quite surprised. The park has VERY old school rides for starters. The architecture is 1920's, 1930's art deco, and done extremely well. You can obviously see how the park kept most of the roaring 20's feel and look to the park, while adapting to more modern elements over the years. What is a shame is the fact that with the proper backing/funding, and some fresh new ideas and input, this park could be turned into a serious tourist attraction/resort. The good and the bad: With all that I have said which is good, the one bad thing is being at the park when all the rides are open. The kiddieland opens at 1 pm, and the major rides start to open around 6, but can go as late as 7:30 opening, or whenever the park finally has an employee to operate certain rides. We stayed from 4 till 7:30, and I still didnt get a chance to ride the Satellite or the Wild Chipmunk, due to no extra employees there to operate the rides. The park does have two gems, just sitting their decaying, which, with what I was told, are waiting funding to hopefully get restored. One is an old Airplane ride, in which the tower and platform are the only things standing at this time, and the other is the StarRide, which dates back to the early 1900's. Its basically a ferris wheel, but contained tubs that could seat up to eight people. The tubs are in storage, and the rest of the ride still remains in the open. To finish this report off, I have to review the Cyclone. I thought the coaster was great. Yes its a lil rough in some spots, but that has to be expected for a 70+ year old coaster. The layout is a tad strange, however, it was non stop speed.....very fast, only slowing down at the turn around over the lake. I was very anxious to ride the coaster, being that its one of the last Eddie Vettel coasters still operating. My first woodie, and first coaster ever was a Vettel classic, the Zephyr at Pontchartrain Beach. I have to say, I enjoyed it as much as the original Mister Twister that was just right down the street at the former Elitch Gardens. The Dragster Station The Track Launching point! Racing! On Your Marks! Get Ready!..... Now onto Lakeside! The Whip! A decent whipping on this classic! No one cared to ride with me! Waiting to be refurbished! No ride for me! Right before the rides started opening....park did eventually fill up! Finally got to ride this bad boy! Never been on one before! It was.....ok Art Deco Carousel No ride for me! No ride for me! 10 and under only! Never opened! The Cyclone first half..... The Drop! Classic Art Deco station! The Station My travelling coaster buddies!

On Saturday, two of my buddies and I spent the day at Lagoon Amusement Park in Salt Lake City. We arrived at 9:15 to an almost packed parking lot, and the park wasnt opening till 10 a.m. Fortunately, a good deal of the crowd was there for a dance competition. The weather was in the upper 50's, lower 60's with a few clouds in the sky. Lagoon, for those of you who dont know, is an old school, traditional amusement park dating from the late 1800's. The two oldest attractions would be their Roller Coaster(the wooden John Allen classic) that is 87 years old this year, and their carousel, which is at least 110 years old(according to the sign next to the carousel building). The park is generally very charming, still reflecting many of the ideals of a traditional amusement park. The crowds tend to be family oriented mixed with the young teen cliques. I visited last year for the first time, but unfortunately, their new coaster Wicked, had not opened yet. So, on this trip, we made sure that was the first coaster we hit. It's a tad on the short side, a lil bumpy in a few places, but all-in-all, quite fun. Of course, the prize of the park is the Schwarzkopf double looper, Colossus the Fire Dragon. Pure bliss is all that can be said. One of the cool things about the coasters in the park, is that with the exception of the horrible family suspended Vekoma, all of the other coasters have simple lap bars, nothing else.....sweet! The Spider and the Wild Mouse are two good compact coasters. The Jet Star, has unfortunately gotten a little rough over last year. The Roller Coaster, is a nice nostalgic trip back to classic roller coaster years. It is, obviously, rough in several places, but does have a few spots of airtime. Signs in the station state that the coaster, although looks to be in need of a paint job, is in the process of having all of its wood replaced with weather proof, un-painted pieces. Lagoon is a nice park, somewhat large and spread out, but does have a few design flaws. The back section of the park, where the rapids and log flumes are, and the old town area, dont really have a smooth flow in with the rest of the park(you have to really go down an unassuming path thats not very well defined or marked. The more obvious flaw is that five of the eight coasters at the park are all smashed together at the south ende of the park, and not more aesthetically spread out in the park. To end, I really think the park has lots of potential and cant wait to see what it has to deliver in the future. First view before entering the park... This thing is 87 years old!!! Pure Bliss! a very fun spinner.... short but still wet classic carnival Dark ride 1 Dark ride 2 The Old Town section of the park... super meh.... A wet version of the Dumbo ride....and very fun classic and quite good would be so much cooler if it was 4 times as long more bliss...... classic carnival meh.... Some nightime bliss

Hey folks, being a designer myself, I can say that these renderings are more concerned with giving you a "taste" of what is to come, to excite you, and also to look very pretty.....first of all, the actual layout of the ride, really cant not be judged by these renderings.....the main focal point is to showcae this water feature.....does not give a good judgement on size, height, length, etc.....so Its really too early to assume anything quite yet....especially with how this water feature will work. I am sure its gonna be a kick ass B&M Flyer, little doubt in that. Theres a very good chance though, the end result will look very little like what is shown here.

I personally can not say enough good things about the park management. When a group goes over and beyond and did what they did for us the night of WCB. I was one of the unfortunates who had the locker dilemna at the end of the night, the incident where everyones stuff got kept in the main lockers. Jay and Neil both spearheaded a very prompt drive to get our stuff removed from the lockers. Yeah it took a little while, but, how often will you see the management of a park give the go ahead for mechanics to break into the lockers....literally, with a crow bar and other tools....they tried to get the locker company back out there, and they might have(I got my stuff out very quickly then left).....they werent concerned of the cost of replacing possibly dozens of lockers, instead, our satiafaction came first.....shoot, someone even came around and gave us all free admission passes into the park......might be a small incident in some peoples eyes, but to me, it showed their sincerity.

why would it close down? -
Great TP Wes.....Vegas resident here...unfortunately...anyway, if you havent had the chance to ride SPEED The Ride, better get it in soon....the serious word on the street is that it and the Nascar Cafe's days are numbered.....as for Madame Tussauds, its nice, but the London version is better!.....and keep an eye out for a new coaster coming to the Adventure Dome....although Circus Circus will not say its definite, they are not denying it either.....and the work on the boat ride removal starts in a few weeks.....

I have to say, that I love the Mountain...I am so extrenely appreciative of it, and the remarkable job that the new team is doing with it. I live in Vegas, and the coasters here suck! What a bore! I travel to LA as much as possible so I can get my coaster/park fix with the socal parks....I have a season pass, I paid 60 bucks for, and I visit the park at least 6 tiomes a year....so, that averages to $10 bucks a visit - I'd say thats quite a deal. I love the park, and I think it needs improvements, but has so much to offer.

Hey, dont be knocking Colossus.....not too many places left were you can still ride double loop coasters with only lap bars....they seem to be a dying breed....was great to see the original Mister Twister at the # 3 spot, was such an amazingly powerful coaster, and of course, Texas Cyclone(RIP), still holds a special place in my heart! -

several rides were brought over from the original location.....the Sidewinder rollercoaster, the Great Chase rollercoaster, the Spider, the Viking, the swing ride, the Rainbow, the Tilt-a-Whirl, several kiddie rides, and I believe a few others as well.....all of which still remain except the Rainbow..... -

actually, its not that bad......with an extreme paint job, some new rides, and alot more garen areas, it could be very nice....oh, and trash twister II and use the same groundplans from the original and rebuild it!
