The best WDW Value resort?
terrancew_hod replied to CdnbMatt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All Star Movies is pretty good; although I treat hotel rooms as a place just to lay my head. My favorite part is getting breakfast... mmmm, pancakes! Kids can be noisy in the morning, especially when you're hung over! One time a lady did get my blood pressure by trying to get in front of me in line, trying to act like she didn't see me... two can play that game... I acted like i didn't see her when I beaned her with my tray! She got behind me. Terry "Don't play with a black man with a hangover early in the morning" Weaver -
Didn't see Rosie or Meet Cyndi either... something was going on and her and her manager were throwing diva fits... had to do some quick thinking to get the talent area organized... I ended up escorting Darren Hayes from Savage Garden around and they didn't have anything ready... I had my roommate bring insect repellant to the venue because the artist area had mosquitos and Darren was allergic. He sprayed that stuff on heavy saying "Ah, this is the best thing!" I fell out. Then I had to run to Home Depot to get citronella candles and more repellant for the area after Darren went back to the hotel to change... then security wouldn't let them back in and I had to run to across the museum to get someone to let them in! Then I had to run to find out where they were going to be at... then escort them into VIP for a press photo session. Luckily I had opted to wear a white jogging suit and tennis shoes instead of the suit! Luckily I had bought the extra bottle of repellant because Darren left the other bottle at the hotel! So he spayed himself down again before he performed. Oh and I had lit the candles away from the stage to handle the bugs before he went on. After that I escorted them back to the limo and Darren and the manager thanked me for salvaging the disaster they could have been in and they drove off. The manager did give me his email address so he can send my roommate (whose bottle of insect repellant Darren took) some promotional material since he is a big fan. I managed to be in a photo with him, but I have to track down the photographer to email me it. Afterwards, word got around the staff about what I had done (including everyone wanting to borrow the repellant ) and they thanked me and let me off my shift early so I could go into the party... and the VIP area. But my feet were killing me so I just wandered in a small area and chatted with a few people.. and drank a bunch of red bull! I told the event coordinator that next year, I'm escorting the headliner for all the work I did and he agreed. Especailly after I brought out the flaws in logic with the "VIP meet and greet" with Cyndi and no one directed the crowd and everyone charged her and they cut the session short. I told them they needed to announce the directiions on how thing were going to go before they brought her in because the people were either high or drunk at that point. When I moved Darren through the crowds I was pushing the people to one side to let him through. "Move boo. To One side! Pay attention sketchy boy!") Then one of the directors told me to go to the afterparty event (which I didn't pay for) and ask for him at the door. I got there and the line to get in was wrapped around the building. I asked for the director, he came right out and got me in! I got in before VIP! So I had a good but tiring weekend. Terry

Well I did my good deed for today. I was volunteering at this club (which didn't have a large crowd btw) and I saw this guy just looking pitiful and standing by himself. I asked him if he was ok and he said he doesn't go out but found out that Gioia Bruno (from the 90s group Expose) was performing and he wanted to see her. He asked what time she was going on and I found out it wasn't until 11:30pm (it was 8:30pm when he asked)... so he quietly sat at a table... I went back to check on him around 11:15pm and he was still sitting there... he said "It's too bad I can't meet her." I said "Wait right here." I went and asked the event coordinator and after a few minutes he came and got the guy and took him backstage to meet her. He came back out just beaming! Later that night Gioia gave him an autographed cd of an unreleased track that he had been looking for... she had someone retrieve it from her driver's car no less. She gave him a big hug and thanked him for his support. She said it's people like him that makes performing so worthwhile. Then she gave me a hug for going through the trouble of getting him to meet her. So I thought that was pretty cool. Evidently the event coordinators did too... Instead of volunteering at the talent tent with all the performers, I'm now stationed at the trailer where Cyndi Lauper will be, and escorting her to the stage. Oh and I found out that Rosie O'Donnell will be in the entourage with her... so I may meet her too. Saturday should be pretty interesting... Terry

Which organization are you volunteering for in Fort Lauderdale? I'll be volunteering for Care Resource @ Steel tonight and Uncle's tomorrow. Terry

Tell me about it. My alarm went off at 5am and I getting ready to head to the gym at 6am. Working out while everyone else is asleep... that's addictive. But then I work towards goals; my first milestone is this week since I'm volunteering at these circuit parties this week. The event coordinator gave me tank tops to wear... all size small. Well I got in them last week. I got my abs flat again and I think I put on at least 10 lbs of muscle since the summer. I really don't look at the scale because it's not going to be accurate for me, since I'm trying to put on muscle weight. So my next goal is to work towards a six pack again before New Years where I will actually be doing some real partying. Terry

It's gonna be a busy next week for me. It's the annual White Party even for Care Resource, which is a South Florida HIV nonprofit organization. It's a week long event that I volunteer for. So here's the schedule: Tuesday: Pack an overnight bag. Wednesday: work my regular job from 9am-6pm. Grab a quck bite to get to my volunteer shift at 7pm. Work as a greeter and a silent auction until 1am. Thanksgiving: Eat with roommates; leave for next shift at 7pm. Work as a greeter until 2am. Run home and get a few winks in. Friday: Drive to Orlando early to meet up with friends from Midwest Trip at Islands of Adventure. Catch a few winks of sleep that night. Saturday: Drive back to Miami. Change into White Party outfit. Head to assignment. Work at the Talent tent from 5pm to 11pm where I'll have a walkie talkie and babysit Cyndi Lauper and Darren Hayes (former lead singer from Savage Garden) before they perform. Go party until daybreak. Sunday: Go to beach party event... try to get enough sleep for monday morning! Terry

^I'll throw in my "Good Luck" as well.. and also "that's not healthy".. But the best advice I can give is that not to treat your diet and exercise program as such. If it becomes something you like to do, you will stick to it and keep the weight off. To keep it off permanently it becomes a lifestyle change. So you'll have to learn to balance your diet with the amusement park fare. For example you'll work out around your trips because you know the food isn't going to be too healthy for you.... and when you get back home, you slowly work your way back into your program. I think I stuck to my program so long because I view it as a hobby or stress release. Also I like the cute clothes I can buy now. I saw my best friend a month back after he lost 100lbs... he got lots of encouragement from his gym and he loves shopping now. He's so skinny now compared to what he was a year and a half ago. Also try to eat smaller meals several times a day... about 5 or 6... you don't have to starve yourself... you'll have better results with that because you're training your body to eat smaller portions and your body only metabolizes so much at a time, so you can actually lose more weight this way... also working out in the morning before you eat helps burn more calories too. Good luck again, Terry

The adventure of Lil' Robby Robb

You didn't have to lighten mine, huh? I just coughed up a lung after seeing that turkey on my head! Terry -
It's payday yet again! And with the new job, I've paid the rent and have money over to make my trip plans for New Years... oh and do a little shopping too! Terry

^^I'm sure my brother would disagree with you. He left the states in 1999 to move to Europe and hasn't been back. Now he's talking about moving back to Berlin from Finland. He almost got legally married, which would have been recognized by the EU. He's been trying to get me to move to Europe as well... he said it's a whole different world over there, especially being gay and black... but we won't go to far into that. When I go on the TPR Europe trip he wants me to come over a week or two early and see what he's talking about. He even said some guys already wants to meet me... and they're looking better than what I have to put up with in the states. Terry

I got my volunteer assignment for this yearly event; I'm working at the Talent Tent at White Party monitoring who can go in at out. So I'll probably get to meet Cyndi Lauper and escort her to the stage when she performs. Now I gotta finish my outfit and finish trimming up these abs! Terry

Hell no! I ain't beating up a football jock! I'm just a wimpy kid! I was wimpy too when I beat up that jock too. But then nobody expects me to tear a place up like I did that day. But then when they're bigger than me, I fight dirty... remember: crotch kick when he leaves himself vulnerable then grab anything heavy and beat the heck out of him! Terry

C'mon, you love it when I raise my voice after someone acts up and it gets quiet in the room. Nothing but crickets... Full Diva Fits! Takes years of practice to get to that level. Can't wait until Thanksgiving at Disney, huh... call me so I can find out what hotel to book and when. Terry

^Then do something about it. Send people to the principals office for harassing you. Knock someone in their jaw. Do something! Don't just stand there and take it. That's how people get power over you. Complaining to people that can't directly help you accomplishes nothing. That's why I caution people not to out themselves before they're out of high school and on their own. At that age a lot of people aren't ready for the emotional consequences of their actions. Everyone wants to be accepted and loved but really don't know how. That time is better spent learning how to love yourself and making yourself strong. Gay life ain't easy. And you need to know who your friends really are before you tell them really personal stuff... some will stop talking to you or worse yet, go tell everyone in the world your secret. You have to be prepared for that. If you aren't ready for that, then you aren't ready to have a boyfriend. That opens another can of worms. If you don't have the thick skin needed to get people off your back, you certainly aren't ready for anything else. That's why it's easier to do it after high school. You don't have to see people on a daily basis and it's easier to avoid those that give you problems. Think about that for a second. I'm betting that you and your new boyfriend will get caught by your or his parents... and you think things are bad now... just wait until they find out. Be prepared for that. I've seen plenty of people do all kinds of stuff and get embroiled in massive drama for the sake of getting a man. Don't add to the list. This is not to totally scare you, but you need to start getting yourself together for the life you're heading into. Either make yourself strong for the life ahead or start saving for that therapy or detox you're gonna need in your twenties. Terry

^I guessed I never worried about getting expelled; I was getting someone off my back so I could concentrate on my studies. Oh it also helps when you're on honor roll too. Authorities believe the smart kids over the average. Part of being crazy was I could act my butt off... heck I could start the fight, beat the person up, turn on the waterworks and say that the other person started it. "(sob) I'm just trying to make it through school..." And the principal would believe me because I was on honor roll. I had it to a science. I lied so bad and acted so well the other kid just sat there with his mouth wide open. The principal handed him his suspension and I went back to class. He told me while the principal left the room "I'm getting you when I get back." And I said "And I'll do the same thing and you'll get suspended again. You'd best leave me alone." He never bothered me again. Told you I was bad. Terry "The gay bully" Weaver

I hope that this isn't something you will continue to do throughout life or you're in for a lot of heartbreak. I knew someone who didn't want someone that was gay so he would run after "straight" or "confused" guys that was glad to take the money he gave them, stay up in the house and eat him out of house and home. One even fell asleep while he was making french fries and burned his kitchen down and didn't give him money to help repair it. Hopefully you'll learn, unlike him, that unless if it's obvious that they like you, you don't devote time trying to get with them. That's time better spent doing something else. If they just want to be friends, then you should keep it at that. That leaves it open for someone who can really be your boyfriend to step in. If you spend your time getting with someone who doesn't know what they want, you won't see the person that may be 'that person' come by. smartestcoasterkidever: Don't let him intimidate you. You change where you want to and if he doesn't like it, he can go wait outside until you're done. That's his problem, not yours. Tell that girl that comes by to tell him he can jump off a bridge and she can go to hell. It was different for me in High School. I got teased with the gay jokes ONCE. See all it took was me to lose my mind ONE time and they left me alone. A football player teased me in front of everyone and I planted my foot in his crotch, taking him down... then I took a chair and nailed him with it. Then i pinned his arms down with my knees and I treated him like a punching bag. It took a teacher's aid and two students to get me off of him. Then I acted like I calmed down and they let me go... then I jumped him again and took them all down. It was a big old mess... but I wasn't gay anymore... just crazy. They knew I carried a can of whipa$$ in my book bag just in case someone decided to tease me and wasn't afraid to open it up. But I got those skills from 'back in the day' when we used to be bussed to another school and those race fights broke out. Had to learn how to beat up 4-5 kids at one time... and I could too... I was so bad back then. Terry

So how does that work out? I mean being gay under the age to drive and wanting/having a boyfriend? No car, no place to hang out, no privacy, etc... That's a lot of sneaking around! All night Wii sessions to throw parents off the scent eh? Anyway, I'm not actively looking for a BF although one would be nice. I'm just too darned picky from what I've been told. (Also I've been called that word that begins with a 'B' and rhymes with 'witch'.. but they say it like it's a bad thing! ) But I think that's a good thing... that person should be going in the same direction I am... I'm always working to improve myself. My roommate says I'm a big-a$$ed kid because I like coasters and my psp. He shouldn't talk, he's stressed himself so much he had to go on leave for stress and his head is almost all grey and he's 5 years younger than me! I try not to take myself too seriously because I know I can set it off in a place at any minute... When I do go out, unless I'm hanging with a group of friends, I spend most of my night trying to get rid of trolls, crazies and drunks. Take last night for instance. I couldn't catch up with anyone so I ventured out alone: * I drink several $5 Red bulls to get my energy up. * Spent about four hours dancing. I'll see a cute guy and I'll try to get his attention.. then someone ugly will jump between us and try to dance with me... move!! * Three overweight old looking guys attempt to hit on me. I send them walking... no offense but if I'm battling to keep my stomach down and looking young, so should you. Don't need a "daddy", I'm one myself. * Two nice looking guys eye me.. but they're boyfriends. I send them walking too.. you have a man, stop being so greedy. * A partridge in a pear tree... OOOPS! Got my wires crossed. Nope the one is me leaving that club as soon as they had the Halloween costume contest. They killed my buzz! Nothing like people in cheap costumes trying to win $1500. I went to another club and some drunk guy dressed as a fairy (what a stretch) staggered around and tried to use me as a prop when he almost fell. I removed his hand from my shoulder and he hit the deck! Sorry, I'm not out to prop you up... go sit down somewhere. Or lay down somewhere. Oh well, should have stayed home and worked on my web page. But I did have fun dancing.. Terry

^Yeah, you don't have to be fluent, but at least you need to be trying to learn the language. Anyway, today's rant: My powerbook is on life support. The graphics card is dying. I did a diagnostic and I'm getting all kinds of frame buffer errors. And there's all kinds of artifacts on the screen that makes it distracting to look at. Time to replace it. Yeah I wanted to get another computer, but at least I wanted the one I work on to be functional until then! At least I was able to back up my drive and I can plug it into my older powermac (which is another good thing I like about macs--they're not as hardware-dependent.) Right now I'm back to working on my Dell desktop replacement (yuck) until I get things together. Well here's to saving up for a 17 inch macbook pro... oh and a mac pro for good measure! Terry

1) Got paid today! 2) After stepping in a HUGE puddle of water, I went into Marshalls to buy another pair of socks (can't go back into the freezing office with wet feet). While there I found a pair of puma sneakers for $30 and a pair of New Balance for $34. Got to the cash register, there was a sale and they took another 25% off the pumas! Two pairs of shoes under $60 is pretty good. 3) It's the weekend! Terry

Well that woke me up this morning... I was dragging around the room and trying to do situps... now I just grabbed bed pole and started "bucking". Hee Hee... Now to start my day. Terry "Getting his bounce on at 7:30am" Weaver

I love it when they try that with me down here. "My ancestors were stripped of their culture and forced to speak English. Honey you better find a way or get your manager out here. Learn the official language here." That usually gets someone running to get me checked out. Three weeks ago I had two people translating trying to get me out of the grocery store... and they even scanned a discount card for me so I saved money. My roommate (who is Chilean) gets mad because I sometimes ignore his relatives when they are in the house. I tell him "They've ignored me first by speaking spanish when they know I don't know it and they can speak English. That's just rude." He gets quiet then. These are people that have been in the country for over 20 years. They know the language... they just choose not to use it when I'm around... So I choose to walk past them like they aren't in the room. One girl even told me I NEED to learn Spanish and she didn't know any English. So someone translated for me "Honey, I can ride a coaster in the middle of a corn field because I know the language needed to get there. Can you? Didn't think so. You can't go any further north than the city limits of Miami because you don't know the language. YOU need to learn English if you're gonna stay here." 'nuff said. Photo Mini TR: Carrabba's and Kroger
terrancew_hod replied to TheRapidsNerd's topic in Random, Random, Random
No statue credits in front, the restaurant is kinda hidden by the Applebees and not visible from the street. I did find another statue credit in the area that would make an absolutely foul picture, but I need someone to snap the picture... and preferably when I'm not wearing my work clothes. Maybe around the holidays I can get my friends to snap a photo or be in one with me. Terry -

We have both a Carrabba's and Kroger here... The Carrabba's is right around the corner from my new job. Still haven't eaten there though. I really only like pizza and lasagna when it comes to italian food. Terry -
To you. But it evidently did to that guy and the school. It's never stalking to the one that does it. And I thought you wanted to change subjects. Before I go back let me introduce you to someone you may know... Look: "Cleopatra, Queen of Denial" (ok I'm done...that was bad)
