Have you ever been in a fistfight?
terrancew_hod replied to JFrombaugh's topic in Random, Random, Random
I've been in enough fights for people in High School to say about me "Don't mess with him. He's crazy." When I was young I could fight two or three people at a time... coming from when my cousins and I were bussed to an all white school. You quickly learned to push away and hit a few kids at a time when you were outnumbered! When I got to High School I didn't look for starting fights, but I sure knew how to finish them! Terry -

^Tell us how you feel and don't hold back this time. Amen to that! There are some forums that I belonged to that were just free-for-alls: atrocious spelling, flame (no, nuclear) wars, typing in all caps, people creating duplicate accounts to talk about somebody or stir drama, etc. Even worse, the mods were participating in the mayhem! You won't get a respected site like that! Keeping a great site together requires good moderation, but great posters as well. But that means that everyone has to adhere to a certain level of quality when they post... so if you consistently post junk and can't spell to save your life, especially after being warned, don't be surprised if you get "da boot". But if it gets to that point, it's probably better if you take some time off away from your computers to brush up on your weak spots instead of bringing down the quality of the site. Terry

Quoted for truth. I remember having to bring a child back to his mom when he was climbing a store display and almost brought it down on him. What was the mom doing on the opposite end of the aisle? On her cell phone running her mouth! Some people just can't concentrate with that phone pressed against their head! Heck some mother almost ran her baby carriage into a pole (then traffic) because she was too busy talking on the phone! Anyway, I had some cute words for her. But it was obvious that she never taught her child not to leave her side. I remember running off to look at toys at a store when I was young... ONCE. Didn't know my mom could get so ghetto. But after that I made sure I was in her line of sight and I asked her if I could go to look at toys instead of just running off. Times weren't like they are now... as crazy as people are, you'd better be watching your child, know where they are or give them specific instructions of where to be when they are done or where to meet you and not to stray. ^Thanks! I was outdone when they called my name. First they were calling out the events that the winner worked at... I was thinking "I wonder who it is, I worked there." Then they named an event where I was the only representative and I tried to crawl under the chair! Terry

I had posted a picture from my winning Volunteer of the Year in the "Picture of Me" thread, but now my company wants to do a article on me! They are big into volunteering (they participated in the AIDS Walk and didn't know I was there working or was involved with the organization!), so they think it's a big deal that I won. Oh btw the way, my company has over 15K employees! I'm famous! Terry P.S. Also I'm going to be included in a Art show exhibit in two weeks on South Beach. My avatar is a clip of one of the pictures... I cropped it at the chest!

I was totally surprised yesterday by winning Volunteer of the Year at Care Resource. They said that since I've been with them I've put in over 150 hours of service! All the local magazines were there to take my picture! I was ruined! Anyway, this is me at the event with my award: Just smiling... could have been the free drinks?

The "Say Something Random" Thread

Continuing my Mom's banner month, she just got a Mother's Day gift from my brother in Korea. She opened the package and there was only a white envelope with some hard candy with Korean letters on the package. There was no note inside. My mom is still cursing. I mean this sounds like something a 6 year old would give his mom, not a 43 year old man. Where's the gift box? Can't you send some cash or at least write a note for your mom wishing her a happy Mother's Day? A mess. This is worse than when Dad gave her a skillet for Christmas! Now I did my best last week to not laugh when my 62 year old mom got propositioned to sell her "stuff" for the rent money from an 80 year old man; but I started giggling when she started her sermon (she has her minister license) on how Satan is using my brother to give her crappy gifts. Mom: "Stop laughing. This isn't funny." Me: "Oh yes it is. Satan giving you crappy gifts? Uncle Marshall trying to make you a lady of ill repute?" (giggle) Mom: (starting to laugh herself) Well I'm so glad you think this is so funny. I'll probably get another call tomorrow when she gets the check I sent her with the following written inside: "Mom, here's some money to keep you an honest woman " Terry -
1. Mind you the potential threat was it mutated from another animal, not just the human virus mutating. (Who was doing naughty things with the pigs? ) 2. You have to keep in mind that the media struggles for news because everyone is getting information from the internet... they have to blow everything out of proportion to get you to watch. 3. It was the media creating the chaos, not the government. It would have been different if the government sat on their hands and waited. And as far as antibacterial soap, I think it was the fact that people were actually washing their hands helped. You know little kids will touch everything in sight, then put their fingers in their nose or mouth.... and other people are just plain nasty. terry

No, I feel old! I had the original Duke Nukem sidescroller shareware from Apogee when I was around 20. Back when video games were fun. Uh Uh. I feel old. We were playing the side scrolling classic Karateka on the Apple IIs in the computer room in high school while waiting for our turn to run our programs on the punch card machines that took up half the room. Commodore PET anyone? Not to mention how I modified the code for a Q-Bert clone written in Commodore BASIC for fun and saved the code on a 5 1/4 floppy. 1. It's a type a flu that we naturally don't have defenses against. Only two types of drugs help lessen the symptoms and it has to be prescribed from a doctor; you just can't go to the local pharmacy and ask for it like other flu medications. I'm guessing so many people died in Mexico because they don't have access to any real type of health care. 2. Don't complain about the "overreaction". Consider what would have happened if there was a slow response. People would be complaining that the government didn't do enough if more people died or got the flu. I would rather have the government doing what they did to reduce the chances of mass infection than they wait until it's out of control and we all have to wear masks and restrict our movements... don't you? Two things for today: 1. I can't go home right now because my roommate informed me that they're filming some action scene for a movie or show on the USA Network outside our house. My roommate was walking the dogs and then they started shooting and fighting and his dogs went crazy! The director yelled "CUT!!! Get those damn dogs out of here!" Oh well! 2. My mom called me all upset; my mom needed some money to help with her finances until they refinance the house. Previously a friend of the family named "Uncle Marshall" told her that if she needed anything to call. So she did. He told her if he wanted his help (ya'll better sit down for this one), she'd have to sleep with him! She's 62 and he's 80! WTF!?!! It's a bit late to be playing "Indecent Proposal!" I'm going to have words with him the next time I see him.... trying to make my good Christian Mom into a dime store hooker! Terry "I need a beer after that" Weaver EDIT: My Mom barely walks with a cane and just got through physical therapy to walk again. How did he expect her to lift her... errr.... EWWW!!! MY EYES!!! Thinking about it has them burning!!!

With the economy as bad as it is, I'm not surprised that free ride is over. I wish I could get a job where I show a screen shot or a quick snippet every once in a while for over a decade and get cold PAID. It's almost like running a Ponzi scheme... people invest in your company and they live off that money and you get nothing in return. I wonder how much code and graphics was actually done? Well in fond memory: This was the best part of the game and my role model.

I got this PM from somebody from my account on a site I buy 3d modeling objects: Yeah Ms Mercy could glean a lot from my profile... ...it's blank. She got reported as spam... wasting my time with her foolishness. I bet she has a small boat in Somalia too. Terry

I got a compliment on a 3D modeling scene I created today (no I can't post it ) At least I'm starting to learn the program. Terry

^Startin' that again huh? You really need that spanking! (And I got the program to demonstrate it too!) Terry -
You know I'm getting bombarded with this everywhere I go! (I got my four coupons btw... I'm getting ready to eat!) My aunt tried to send pdf copies to all the family... I emailed her back: "Auntie, read the coupon... you gotta let the program print a new one because of the coupon numbers that get scanned." Terry

What the? I'm shocked. Hmph. Guess he thought that was cute. Wes showed him it wasn't. Not cool at all indeed. Terry

And that defeats the purpose of UAC... not much of a "feature", huh? That's why I got all my friends on Apple computers. They were calling every week about their computers because of where they went (and kept going even after I fixed their machines). So after I stopped supporting them and they bought a Mac, I stopped getting calls. That made me happy 'cause those fools kept taking up my weekends with that mess. So am I. ^On Windows 7, the icons are grouped to the left of the applications so when you hover your mouse over the application it shows previews of each window dealing with that application. So if you move your mouse over the icon of Internet Explorer it will show previews of all the browser windows you have; then after a a seconds it will fade out any other windows and show that window you have highlighted. Also it wasn't recommended that you turn off the UAC unless you were an advanced user. So you were faced with either turning it off and raising the chance a virus or spyware would get on your machine or leave it on and get annoyed so much you accidently let a virus or spyware on your system since you were just pressing all those popups just to get rid of them and not paying attention. Now when I install a program I think I got two popups at the most. Terry -

Has anyone had a chance to play around with the Windows 7 RC1? I downloaded it last night, and surprisingly enough it's not that bad. I put the disk in and about an hour later it had set itself up. It even knew I was using an Apple keyboard! I only updated the video driver and it found everything else. I'm playing around with the 64bit version instead of the 32bit version and it's nice to see all 4gb of RAM recognized. It's pretty fast too! I also like the window previews down in the start bar so I can see which window I want to switch to. It's also nice not to get the 50 million security popups just to install a program like Vista had! I guess when it comes out, I'll be buying it (along with Snow Leopard--gotta keep my mac updated!) If you are going to update your machines later, I would suggest moving up to 64 bits to you can have more memory management in your programs; won't speed things up but at least your 32-bit programs have more memory to play with instead of sharing 4gb with the operating system. Guess someone was cracking the whip in Redmond! I also bought a Nvidia GTX 280 and another 4gb or RAM! Happy B-day to me! Now I have to see if I can run both that video card and my 8800GT without swapping them when I run Leopard (it doesn't support the new card). Now to test my 3D Modeling program and RCT3... Terry -
^LOL and Thanks! I should have said it's on Sunday! And I still haven't heard a peep from anyone as far as making plans! At least my hard drive came in, so I have something to play with tonight. After I take all the stuff out of my drawers so I can get them to the new place tomorrow. Terry

My gripe is about my birthday. Normally I don't make a fuss about it because I'm lucky anyone calls me about it... excluding my parents (they forgot to call one year, but they were wrapped up in a messy divorce). I looked at my phone today and the only person that called this week was my doctor who had a virus on his office computer and wanted me to come over early before my appointment to fix it. "Call the Geek Squad." was my response. The nerve. Then I decided not to go and I'm looking for a new doctor. It really gets on my nerves is that the only time most people call is when they want something. So I guess I'm partying by myself on my birthday because I decided not to remind anyone about it. We'll see who calls this weekend because I'm going to do some "housecleaning". Anyway, I got one of those Magic Jacks to use as a home phone and I'm going to change my cell number... then I'm going to decide who is getting the new number and/or my cell phone number--won't be many. Just a quick update: After playing around with my park I found I had a few issues with lag; so I ended up buying a new video card for my birthday (Nvidia GTX 280). It was on sale for about less than I could get it anywhere so I snapped it up. Hopefully I can post a few snapshots later tonight when I get home before I install the 64bit version of Windows for my 3D modeling program. A sad way to spend my birthday weekend though... building computers! When I get back from the Scandinavian trip, I'm changing my number so my "friends" can kiss my butt! You know no one has even called about my birthday? Terry
