  1. No thank you! I almost fell out of my chair laughing! I like suggestive humor too, although I'm working on a total redesign on my website and redoing my Midwest Trip thread there, including Kings Island (which I never posted); I redid a few quotes and said "Yay! I get to curse and read this time!" Some of them are really bad and not meant for younger eyes. Anyway, back to topic: filling gas tank: $35. Terry
  2. Took a few seconds to realize what you were actually talking about! I was thinking "Hmm, someone feeling a bit free today!" As for me, "Picky mothers choose Jiff" Terry "Too early in the morning" Weaver
  3. I upgraded the DSL at my place hoping to actually get the faster speed and got offered a faster modem to work with it. The package arrived Thursday and my roommate opened it, only to find only a crossover cable. Um, where is the modem? So I had to call them yet again and ask them to kindly send the modem that I'm supposed to get. Before asking them to send the modem they wanted me to go through some PC setup questions... I had to tell them to stop reading the script since the major item needed for DSL connectivity is missing! Terry
  4. Purchased the following parts for the new PC I'm building: * Case - $159 ($99 after rebate) * motherboard - $180 * 500 MB HD - $89 * CPU heatpipe heatsink use for overclocking $95 * Various cables and extension cords $40 * 4GB memory $120 * anti static gloves $10 Terry
  5. My site beat ACE? $242.... and that's with the traffic being down after my domain was down for almost a month! At least I own the domain name, profiles on Myspace and TPR don't count... it's not like you could actually cash it in! Well I'm trying to bump up the value with a site revamp and maybe some ads to pump in some revenue. Terry
  6. I really, really, really, really, really, really wanted to get laid..... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . MORE! --Robb "Seriously, is there any OTHER reason to go through the pain of losing weight?" Alvey If anyone asks my why I exercise and try to keep this shape together, I now refer them to this Robb words of "Ultimate Enlightenment" Best.Reply.Ever. 7. I looked at some of the locked threads last week and thought to myself: "We should allow English and Creative Writing teachers to bring paddles into the classroom. It's getting out of control." How do you misspell "interesting" or "sleep" or "camper"? That's when you need to be paddled for lousy phonetic spellings. I know I'll abbreviate or shorten words when I'm writing a text message since I only have 160 characters to play with, but that doesn't excuse me from at least attempting well-formed, correctly spelled, and grammatically correct sentences. The latest firefox and safari browsers have spell checking functionality... use them if you have trouble spelling. Oh and I see another handy feature in the forum when you create a post... the spellcheck button. Give it a click if you aren't sure. But alas, that doesn't save you from bad grammar and vague posts. Only paying attention in school and applying it to real life helps writing skills.
  8. ^No what's irony is one of my friends.... His father and mother were married for about 15 years, then BOTH decided that they were gay and divorced. Now both them them have partners; my friend lived with his father (and the father's boyfriend) and then came out. Now the whole family is gay except for the daughter and they call her the "Black sheep" of the family! Terry
  9. Actually, the world will end when I actually get a boyfriend. Be prepared. Terry
  10. I remember I was in line to ride the Kraken and there were so many kids not meeting the height requirement were being turned away... children were just crying everywhere! One lady decided to get into it with the staff (cursing) about height restriction and I jumped in (never a good thing since I'm usually rude to idiots). I told her there was one part of the ride where I felt I was coming out of the seat and I'm well over the minimum height... so imagine what would happen to a child that didn't meet it. If her child got ejected from the coaster because she managed to get the child on just because she complained, she would be quick to sue claiming they should have done better to protect her child. Then I told her to stop being such a stupid a$$ b$tch and get her crying brat out of line; she's holding up the works! The staff did their best to hold in the laughter but it didn't really work. Terry
  11. Getting sick 2 days before New Years Party weekend 2007. Managed to go outside for an hour to get something to eat. I'm managing to clean out my sinuses with a neti pot (which looks like a plastic tea kettle and you pour a warm saline solution up one nostril and it comes out the other... with all that mucus... yuck!) so now I can breathe and keep my sinuses from getting infected. Now to get some stuff to cough this junk out of my lungs! Terry
  12. As for moi: "I got a rock." (Hee Hee) Terry "The buzz's kickin' in" Weaver
  13. 1) Last day of work before my holiday vacation. Just a little paperwork to do and a lot of web surfing. 2) One of my friends gave me one of the nicest gifts ever (when I told everyone not to buy me anything): a bound journal to enter my thoughts in. It didn't cost a lot of money but took a lot of thought to get. Anyway, I tell people not to buy me any Christmas gifts and save their money. If they want to give me anything, it should be some of their time. You know most of the people I know can't take an hour or two to just come by the house to just say hi? It's always in a bar with flashing lights and everyone is getting drunk. That's a sad thing especially as they are getting older. I have one person now that I regularly hang out, eat dinner or shop. But then if you have one person you can do that with, then you're pretty lucky. When I lived in St. Louis, my circle of friends would call each other on Christmas or just stop by to say hi and visit for a while. I think that is worth more than just buying some gift a person may not like. Anyway, Merry Christmas! Terry
  14. Ridiculous. Press release: A dog's mess. Video: Shaky cam meets jump cuts. Gave me a headache for the 1 1/2 minutes that I skimmed through it. I have to email my ex from Argentina and tell him that his fellow countryman is acting up online... go get your people! Terry P.S. That building with the flapping wings would be good for knocking old people to the ground with the massive winds it would probably create. Actually that would be the best part of the park!
  15. ^I won't give a long answer, as (1) this will take this thread off topic and (2) I just got home from a drinking spree and I'm tipsy and tired . I took a quick glance at your thread and I don't think it's still an issue of illegal immigration. It's more of a diversity issue. I remember my aunt, a school teacher of over 20 years, telling me about a plant in a town outside springfield, MO having a shortage of workers, thus a influx of Hispanic workers took the vacant jobs. Once again these are immigrants (not not illegal though) taking jobs that people didn't want. However, this created issues within the educational and healthcare systems as there needed to be bilingal healthcare workers and teachers brought into the town to support the workers. This town was had a largely white population, so for a sudden influx of a minority workers to migrate to this town caused all kinds of issues, which is similar to what you are speaking of. In the case of this town however, the plant assisted in bringing in bilingal workers and educators for the town; but I'm sure there were some resentment and bias from those who had lived there all their lives and haven't been in contact with minorities. So one from that town could think or assume that these people are illegal immgrants here to steal jobs that in reality no one wanted, the plant couldn't find workers to fill positions, so the plant found people from outside the community that would work the jobs. Also the town and Springfield had to deal with language barriers of their new citizens. And to be honest, these people probably need to speak English since that is the native language, but living in South Florida, we both know that some people live here all their lives and have yet to utter one word of English, because it's not necessary in their respective communities. But beyond that it was more of southwest missouri's tolerance of other cultures being a problem than anything else. And that sounds like the same issue with Dalton no matter how you dress it up. It's not really overpopulation, it's just a redistribution of population, where there's an introduction of a new culture to a small, established town and that's causing issues that some are incorrectly addressing. Anyway, back on topic. It just sounds like things got blown out of proportion. If the girl was in class and the steak knife fell out, I could understand her getting into trouble, but the punishment she got was a bit excessive for someone using a steak knife to chow down on a steak she brought. Usually I would support the teacher, but in this case he should be reprimanded for overreacting. And as for the 10 year old, I'm guessing she was naive enough to think a steak knife wouldn't be considered a weapon in the school's eyes and probably slipped it in her lunch bag while the parents weren't watching. But then most parents wouldn't think small kitchen utiensils would be considered weapons either. That's like when i see parents cover their children's eyes so they won't see something. The child won't know it's wrong unless they are told it. It just sounds like a misunderstanding on the definition of what a weapon is. I would imagine the school rules don't specifically say that steak knives are weapons... maybe the rules should say no sharp object and spell out what those are so that everything is clear. Now I'm taking my tipsy butt to bed. Terry
  16. Without going too far off subject I'd doubt illegal immigration has much to do with the economy. Most illegal immigrants are getting jobs that most people DON'T want. I believe the reality of tougher immigration laws is higher prices for products because you'll have to pay those people working in kitchens, landscaping and on farms the minimum wage instead of "under the table". Even the percentage of illegals getting healthcare is small compared to people legally in the country and citizens unable to afford insurance. Immigration is just another hot topic to get people to vote for politicians in election years. Outsourcing jobs to other countries has more effect on the economy. Those are the jobs people do want and companies outsource so they can save money. With the cost of living going up and companies paying people less for more work, parents has less time to spend with their kids and give them the guidance they need. So that ties in with other things "babysitting" kids instead of the parents--videogames, internet, TV, etc. Even though times are harder for parents, it's even more important for them to give their kids guidance and make time for them. Parents have to be the ones to set a the example for kids... sit them in front of a TV without guidance, then Jamie Lynn, Britney, Paris, and all sorts of ex-con rappers will be their example. Videogames without guidances becomes some kid's reality. And so on. Even though both of my parents worked, they stayed on me to do my homework, be home before dark and be respectful to others. If I didn't do those things, mamma was waiting at the door with that belt... even when she pulled a long shift at her job at Target... and I didn't want that! Back then we didn't have a lot of money, sometimes eating french toast for dinner; but if your parents are there for positive guidance, then you grow up to be productive citizens. Terry

  18. I agree. I remember when I was in grade school, a child got out of line the teacher could paddle them. Then they had to face their parents. Teachers were authority figures and you were there to learn not play. Now that authority is taken away by parents that don't their children chastised, and then they don't chastise their bad a$$ed children themselves. And people wonder why these kids run rampant in the classroom and the districts have to put up metal detectors and have kids eat with plastic utensil like they are in jail. I knew a few former teachers that complained how they were underpaid and expected to babysit children that have no guidance at home and run rampant in class. No wonder they quit and got better paying jobs. If I had my way, teachers would have high paying jobs and athletes would be receiving low pay. They deserve every penny of it. Terry
  19. ^That's summertime and schools out. And people from all over usually use summer to vacation. Expect crowds; buy one of their Flash passes to get through some of the rides. Terry "Can't do amusement parks during the summer that don't have some type of fast pass" Weaver
  20. It was mine at SFGam last summer. My nerves needed to be calmed. That's all I'm gonna say. Terry
  21. Sally could build it. Shoot the kidnappers... Terry
  22. Wes: The Inquirer needs to publish that letter again with the heading "And you were saying..." Downunder: Just wrong. But if he goes in he's coming out with pigtails in his hair and he'll answer to "Peaches". I remember this guy told me when he got out of jail (yeah yeah, once again you'll be surprised who I know): "In jail you can get sex whether you want it or not." Good incentive to stay out of trouble. Maybe Disney can make some good out of this and have her character get pregnant and send a message to girls about sex. It would be better than the bubblegum crap scripts they have now. At this point, somebody in the industry has to make a stand and say "Don't be in such a rush for sex or don't believe you gotta look like a hooker to get ahead." It might as well be Disney, since they believe in family values so much. Until then Zoey 101 gets an 'F'. Terry
  23. Interesting, but I fear for my back on that brake run. Terrance
  24. Mr. Cage, You don't have to beg Disney for your own coaster (Especially days before the release and no one has reviewed it yet): Here you go. See? Everyone's happy! He has his coaster and Disney didn't waste any more money on that franchise that didn't deserve a sequel.
  25. Several Six Flags parks already sell beer... and I think I found most of them. Like Moose said, it's not going to detract from the so-called "family atmosphere". Those drinks are too expensive to turn the park into a huge Oktoberfest. Nothing to worry about. Besides most of the time when I see a problem, the people causing the problem aren't old enough to purchase beer anyway. I'm imagining they are adding a service to the park to fill a requested need. Namely bringing more adults with spending money into the parks. That's one of the problems that Six Flags is trying to address. Besides Disney (at the hotel and certain locations within the park) and Universal have beer, liquor and wine service for years and they haven't had problems and those pride themselves in a "family atmosphere".
