  1. Dollywood...who can get enough...I mean seriously?! This park rules no doubt, and here's a mid-Autumn look at the park both current and way back when it was known as Silver Dollar City. Please post your comments! Fall Festival postcard TPR loves Dolly! No...not Missouri but that park is cool too! This is how the Smoky Mountains get their name Can you smell and taste the awesome cinnamon bread yet??? I see you Inventor's Mansion Anybody remember The Rainmaker? Kraftwerk Flooded Mine! Blazing Fury has been a staple of the park for EONS (look that word up kids)! Dollywood had a Trabant? Who knew. Do any TPR members have the Cloud Grabber credit?!? I miss my first ever Log Flume ride. Centerfold A Centerfold B Dolly is totally SPECIAL. Mountain folk are the coolest people. Hey y'all! Ghost Town in the Sky is just on the other side of the hill in Maggie Valley...awwwwwww. We'll end this with what I think might be a TPR donkey. I love you Dollywood!!!
  2. Happy Halloween from Germany's Hansa Park and my personal fav Eurofighter coaster...Fluch Von Novgorod! The theming on FVN was not even finished when I visited with TPR in 2009, but it was still pretty ominous, and the scare actor in the exit maze was a total shocker surprise. YIKES! This is a great park which includes a really awesome old school Schwarzkopf coaster in addition to the many other great attractions which I hope to revisit again someday. Hansa Park's entrance is a little bit foreboding looking with the witch hat turrets. Thanks to my good friend Robin of the TPR Brit Crew for providing this awesome postcard of FVN. This scan in no way does it justice as the "holographic" postcard actually changes images depending on the viewing angle! Thanks Robin! Here's the park brochure from 2009 when I visited with TPR...mmmmmm I like bats! More Fluch goodness from 2009!
  3. Divv, this update is officially awesome and SCAREadise approved even without any Doritos. I really need to get back to Alton Towers after so many years. Thanks for the photos and TR, and I'm glad that Scottish (along with the rest of the Brit Crew members present) somehow managed to survive!
  4. Has anyone made it out to the Worlds of Fun "Project 31" exhibit at Union Station in Kansas City? http://www.unionstation.org/rollercoaster.html
  5. What is the "Looping Coaster" around the pyramid shaped building?
  6. Thanks for the info about the Stinger. It really looks like everything I wanted Excalibur at SFStL to do but didn't deliver. I always wanted to see Chaos cars on an inverting frisbee so this looks like an amazing ride. It looks like it would be perfect for a park like Beech Bend. Your photos are great too. Looks like a pretty awesome fair! Thanks for sharing.
  7. What manufacturer makes the Stinger? It looks awesome. Thanks for sharing!
  8. ^ That sounds like the same postcard I have. I'll probably post it here one day...when KI has the bonfire.
  9. ^^ I think the majority here will agree with you about that ghost. I'm not even sure the Rocky Mountain treatment could revive this monstrosity although it sure did wonders for Texas Giant! ^ Is it the postcard with "Under Construction" and two smaller boxed photos within the large photo?
  10. It's October, and that means it's time for the return of the postcard SCAREadise! To kick things off, here's a real horror of a ride - Kings Island's Son of Beast. Oh and check out the 1978 Kings Island brochure, too!
  11. A coaster with NO restraints...wow how refreshing that people must take responsibility for their own rider actions on this coaster. Interesting idea which would no doubt be lost on this side of the pond for the same coaster. It would be a disaster waiting to happen! I loved seeing these photos. Thanks for explaining the origin of the Flipper name. As a lover of all things pinball, I had no idea until you explained. Thanks for sharing!
  12. Shane! I'm glad to see the Attic is back open. Thanks for sharing the goodness. The Aero World season premiere is stunning to say the least...love the Schwarzy shuttle loop concept! Let's get together and plan a one two punch update with our threads sometime soon.
  13. So last year I did an update for "Talk Like a Pirate Day" (which is always September 19th). Why should this year be any different...except I'm running low on pirate themed postcards to share. That said...do vikings count as pirates? If so (or even if not), here's an update from Michigan's Adventure featuring their pirate...err viking ship, and you can relive last year's pirate talk day featuring the awesome Intamin coaster, Piraten, here: 2010: Piraten at Djurs Somerland It is a pirate ship ride, ok... but Vikings are cool too! In 2003 pirates and vikings still exist. Arrrrrrrrrrrr. Here's a hearty bunch of landlubbers. Shiver me timbers. Shout outs to the Arrow fanboys. Pirates and vikings love water parks. Some credits. Decent junior woodie. Michigan...land of pirates and vikings!
  14. Really can't wait for the AMC shows, The Walking Dead and Mad Men, to restart! Looking forward to Glee this week.
  15. In case you've never checked out the band, The Prayer Chain, you really owe it to yourself. Too bad they're long defunct now. Some of the members went on to form Lassie Foundation with Jeff Schroeder who is playing guitar with The Smashing Pumpkins now.
  16. I would pay extra to get into a park if they didn't wrap the trains with those awful ads. Just my .02.
  17. ^^ Bill, you really would love Knoebels I think. It's definitely a gem!
  18. Thanks for the comments guys! I always love reading what people say about the old (and new) stuff I share on TPR. Does anyone else find it completely AMAZING that Knoebels is reopening this weekend?! What a class act.
  19. With the recent massive flooding at Knoebels, I thought I'd share a little love from this really awesome park. It's one of my most favorite traditional amusement parks in the world! When I visited in the summer of 2005, I only allowed 4 hours to visit (which was about 4 hours way too short), but I was also visiting Dutch Wonderland and Williams Grove (R.I.P. Cyclone) that same day. It also rained for 2 of those 4 hours, and I was on the big gondola Ferris wheel when the storm struck. Too bad, and I want to get back to this awesome park again someday. Fortunately, I was able to ride most of the major rides before the storm hit. So, in tribute to one of the greatest parks EVER, here's an antique Country Bear Jubilee postcard and a park brochure. I'm really not too sure of the date for either one. If someone knows the date, please chime in! Here we go... Does this remind anyone else of Disney? Never got to see this show. How long has it been gone? Mmmmmm...Schwarzkopf hotness. Apparently, you can still ride Jet Star in France. Best set of Flying Scooters in the world. FOOD. Haunted Mansion and The Satellite....love those old Eyerly rides. Bumper cars...for real. Wishing you the VERY BEST Knoebels!
  20. This is epic. I'm curious how Dutch Wonderland is doing as well.
  21. Oops...I kinda keep forgetting to update this thread. Ok remember when stand ups were all the rage...or not. Say bye bye to Iron Wolf and hello to Apocalypse at SFA.
  22. ^ Funhouse is an awesome pin! If your dad wants to get it fixed, he might try posting for a repair guy on http://www.klov.com in the pinball forum. Also, Craigslist is a great place to post since a lot of pin heads and repair guys check there for work. Hope he can get it fixed and you can report back on playing it!
  23. Anyone play the new Stern Tron pin? My thoughts...extremely fast, challenging, and one of the better Stern games.
