So Shapiro gets a 30% raise...
Ccron10 replied to Crazy4Coasters!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know but I would be more concerned about getting the company out of debt than accepting the pay raise. It sounds like he's only looking out for himself instead of the company. With all the expensive prices like $50.00 for admission and another $ 15.00-$20.00 for parking! People are better off going to Cedar Fair where admission is only $35.00 or more sometimes including a water park once and a while and parking at only $7.00 or $8.00. Shapiro acting like a money hog. That's just my $0.02. -
Breaking news! Vekoma discovers.....
Ccron10 replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The cars kind of remind me of the Mountain Glider's cars coming in 2007 to Six Flags Belgium execpt with 2 across seating. I wonder which parks will get this model. -
Best Kiddie coaster ever

High Speed Thrill Coaster at Knoebels. I've heard rumors that this coaster was rougher than the Phoenix and Twister. Later I found out that it was false. -
Hershey Park - the Virgin trip
Ccron10 replied to havenli's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You are going to have a GREAT time! With 10 coasters and some great rides, to me it's the best park I've ever went to. I think Friday would be a great day too. I'm interested on how the Boardwalk is coming along. -
I'm back! After a break I thought about all the posts and I changed the layout to make it shorter but sweeter! I also thought of adding some sponsers to the ride like TPR (I might need to ask for permission from Robb on this). Here's the walkthrough of the ride: The car drops out of the station going into the Jojo roll and making a left U-turn and climbing a tall lift-hill. At the top, the car flips over and does a Immelmann Drop. The car goes speeding along a straightaway and does 2 90 degree right hand dive loops. Next, you go speeding into a righthand turn under the Jojo roll. Following that is a 90 degree turn and into a tunnel under the station. After that is a Zero-G-roll and a 90 degree banked dive into an immelmann. In the inverted position, you glide along a short straight away and into another 90 degree banked dive. Doing a long right-hand turn, you then flip back over in a Fly to Lie. After crossing under a point where the track crosses over 4 times, you do a banked rise. Following that is a 90 degree banked helix going up and a 3/4 quarter 90 degree helix going down into the brake run. After going to the Bloomsburg fair and looking the rides, more ideas came to me. Don't forget to try to name the ride on http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29509 . Now to the pictures! Another view. A Closer view. Note: The dots with lines are supports. New layout over view.

Taking a break form my project, my mom, dad and I went to the Bloomsberg Fair up in Northesatern Pennsylvania (not far from Knoebels). We left the suburbs of Reading around 1 PM and headed up Route 61. Sooner or later we went through the town of Centrailia and man, going through that to was spooky! There are streets that lead to nowhere and there were only abot a handful of houses, but what really adds a strange part was the mine fire. We eventually took route 487 and went past Knoebels, but didn't stop. At around 3 PM we arrived at the fair, and man was it full!!! We had to park at the very end of the field. To get to the entrance we had to hop on a tram that was pulled by a tractor and it looked very rednecked! We paid our $4 admission and after seeing some exhibits and some item stands we began our 1/2 mile to 1 mile walk to the back of the park where the rides were. For $1 a ticket and some the rides having a 2-12 ticket admission requirement, I skipped the rides, but not just for the prices but for my dad's fear of safety for me on those rides. After taking some video and pictures of the rides we headed down the numerous midways. There were tons and I mean TONS of food stands, I counted at least 5 to 7 stands of the same stand all over the fair. Also when you see tons of food stands you see fat people, it kind of reminded me of Robb and Elissa's Six Flags Astroworld TR! After buying a Penn State T-shirt we left the park around 7 PM to head to Danville to have dinner at Perkin's. We didn't get home until 10 PM. Overall the fair was pretty good. I would recomend it to anybody who is in the area next late September to see it. -Chris- P.S. Just to note the order of the pictures is backwards. Link to the video http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29699 Behold! A Wal-Mart and hardware store bulit completely on top of a coal pile! Welcome to the Coal Regions! On the other side of that dirt mound is the old route 61. It was closed because of the Centrailia mine fire. This is the way into town. The fire is still burning and will for hundreds of years. Going down into the middle of town. A lone bench in the middle of town is all that is left of the memories that happened here. Looks like they updated their sign. The entrance to Knoebels. The most popular ride, The Zipper made an appearence. The Music Express at Hershey looks better. This is the first time I've ever seen a Tornado ride before. Cliff Hanger looked sweet!!! It's just a paratrooper ride where you lay in the flying position. I wish I could've rode it! The ferris wheel called the Gentile Giant didn't really look like a giant, but just a carnival-type ferris wheel. Now go to Knoebels or SFGAdv. and those are giants! Now there's a ride I've never seen in a long time. The Revolution ride looked sweet, but I couldn't go on it. Speed was a cool looking ride that spins you on an arm, but for 12 tickets ( $11) it looked like a rip off and there was no line for it. So this is what the Skyscraper at Dorney looked like. I never knew this ride was portable! I think one of the coolest machines there was the ice cream machine. It could crush 5 buckets of ice at once and is fully steam powered! A part of the steam-powered ice cream making machine. What's a good TR without Donkeys!!!! More Donkeys!!!

Wow I didn't know they had Olyimpia Looping and Euro Star at the same festival and I also did't know that there was a racing wild mouse ride! I thought those only existed on RCT! Great TR Derek.

Some things I want to say. 1. When I went to Dorney in August Steel Force's Line was so short that I only had to wait at least 2 or 3 minutes (possibily because they shut the ride down for 5 minutes for, I think a the train not coming back on time). 2. I rode Talon 2 or 3 times in a row and I have to admit that I did kind of gotten worn out, but that's because maybe I was walking around the park all day. By the way great TR! -
Those photos looked pretty good, but I just can't wait for the theme park photos. But anyway so far great TR. Going a little off topic, you live in the same town I do.

Here's some update about the project: Instead of a 1 inch equals 10 ft scale I'm going with a 1 3/4 inch equals 12.5 ft scale (I know it's strange, but the track width looked right at that size). Before I create the main model I am going to build a test model which will include a drop, zero-G roll, 90 degree turn and 45 degree turn. I do this to find out where I loose the most speed, loose the less speed, how the coaster will perform, etc. I'd like to thank chaos for remining me to create a test model because if I wouldn't have this project would've been going down the drain. Just to let everyone know I am new to creating model roller coaster from scratch, I did have a k'nex coaster, but that you build with instructions. If anybody has comments, questions, opinions about this project just post it here. Here's a better pic. Simply this test model isn't going to be a circuit, it will just show me how the ride will perform and what not to do.
-
Thank you. I'll do that. I'm going to draw up something that includes a 90 degree turn, a 45 degree turn, a hill, and a car and do this. If it fails I'll design a new layout ( which I might do). Right now I feel kind of wierd posting those pics, but hey, it could be counted as a basic idea of what I want to do, right?

Since I need something to do I might as well open up the chance for you guys to think up a name for the coaster I'm designing and possibly building. If nobody knows what I'm doing, Heres a link.www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29370 Rules: Sometime on November 30, I will pick 5 of the name I think are great and have you guys vote on a poll I'll set up on this topic and the best name will be given to the coaster. Voting deadline is December 31, 11:59PM The name you pick should be school safe (no swearing). Anybody who is a member of this site may post a name including admins. and new members. The station for the ride will also be themed reflecting the name. Robb and Elissa can change these rules or remove this topic if they don't like it. Be creative! -Chris- [/u] The layout.

Those dimensions are the height at those certain points (in feet). But I'd like to thank CP_RULES for reminding me that when you do 90 degree turns you loose speed. I'm going to take out all the 90 degree turns execpt two of them, the 90 degree helix and the 90 degree banked drop. The other turns where I have those turns will be 45, 50, or 55 degree turns. I'm not sure that this would work, but to make the cars more flexable to go arount tight turns I'll have 2 sets of wheels on the front car and back car,the rest will have only 1 set of wheels per car. To reduce friction I will sand the track and wheels with the highest grit sandpaper I can find. I was talking with my dad about this project and he said it's better to plan for at least a year or two and then build. I agree with him. Doing this will have spend less time fixing my problems when I build and have more time to get things done. I still need more opinions to help me get this done correctly and don't forget that soon I open up for names for the coaster! -Chris-

You know what? I think I might post what will happen on the ride! You exit the loading station and drop from 70ft to 20 ft and then do a jojo roll. You do a left U-turn and start heading up the lift. At the top you'll be 320ft above ground. Next you drop 10 ft and then turn upside down to do the 250 ft Immelman Dive. At the bottom you do a 90 degree banked turn and head up the 150 ft tall over-banked curve. Next would be the 155 ft tall vertical loop which is 20 ft wide at the base from the other side of the loop. You then go up a 160 ft hill over the lift an then do a 90 degree banked dive under the lift and sidewind up a 90 degree banked incline to 120 ft. Next is the zro-G rll and flying snake dive, you then cross over and under the immelnann dive and go under the transfer track station through a tunnel and exit it on a 90 degree banked rise to the right. Following that is a lie to fly right through the middle of the immelmann dive, the train then goes up to a set of block brakes at 140 ft above ground. After the brakes you do another 90 degree banked dive down to 40 ft and do a 60 ft tall corkscrew. Next is another over-banked curve at only 60 ft Coming after that is a 90 degree banked helix going from 50 ft to 20 ft. To end it all up is a fly to lie and 1 airtime filled hill and into the brakes and unloading station. Last night I drew up the overview and started the site plan for the station. My deadline is to get the site plan done sometime in October. -Chris-

I've got big news! I have my second update! Here's a close-up view of how the loop will be done. Here's another flat view of the layout. Here I present to you to where I do my drafting. Take notice of all the objects on It. A Hydra on-ride photo, a countless number of rulers and the masking tape. If you can closely see on this pic I added every inch or so along the track a height number. Here's a better view. Well I made the layout a little more easier to read and fixed some areas to make it graph paper friendly.
-
Thanks. Last night I started making a few modifications to the layout like making the loop wider and making the draw-up plans easier to see and read. After I create another drawing which shows more detail to the ride I'll then create a side view of the ride. Then finally I'll use those drawings to copy the design onto AutoCAD. Simply after all that I'm ready to build. By the way how is the loading and unloading station set up on X? Does the train pull into to a seperate station to unload and move into another station to load or does it load and unload all in one station?

Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Man that's a sweet drop, but they could of did more with that station fly by like having the track be more inside the station like Thunderhead. But anyway it looks like a great coaster. -
Ah yes the loop, it still might be possible because the height of the lift hill on the model will be 32 inches which would equal 320 feet in real life so there could be enough space for the cars and the diameter for the loop. For the jojo roll, I am certain that It's possible if I built the station up higher the arms could get by. Well, the X rails I might drop which means I would need to draw the site plans up again, but thats no problem for me. That spinning concept is an exellent idea! That would mean that this would be a new kind of 4D coaster! I'll display them when I get each section done.
