  1. This may sound like a stupid question but what does NE stand for because I am bulding a park and some coaster will look pretty good with those supports.
  2. You have some great pics there! I think I remember hearing in 2001 a group of people doing that. They were air lifted to each of the parks. Great TR. -Chris-
  3. Trust me, I wouldn't. Maybe if I made a jig to curve it?
  4. Why can't they just expand or modify the area? They have a kiddie area so why build another? Attendence?
  5. I have that book. As matter of fact I looked at it so much I ruined it and had to get another! By the way that colored photo of the ride kind of makes it look like it was 200ft up there! I think the tallest one was either Southern Cross or Eagle's Flight at SFGreat America in IL. That one was 135ft tall. After going there back in 2004 riding the Giant Wheel, I think I remembered seeing some painted marks on the floor of the loading/unloading platform for the ride. This summer after going with my school on the edge of the station the floor curves down right where the car exited. This is possibly for the short catwalk and for the cars. By the way, is the Kosher Mart ever open? Everytime I go there it is always closed. This is what I'm talking about. If you see right along the floor, you can see it curve down. Pic from hpslappy.com This has to be the greatest pic of the ride, it shows the ride, the car, and the queue line. Pic from hpslappy.com It took me a while to find a pic of the minetown station. long ago I think I remember it. Seeing it was the first time I heard of this great ride. Pic from hpslappy.com Another car pic. pic from themeparkbrouchures.com This is a really good pic of the cars. I just can't get over how ugly the characters are compared to now! pic from themeparkbrochures.com Taken from the Kissing Tower, Comet hollow has really changed. Pic from hpslappy.com As you canm see the decline angle kind of looks small. The ride also ran real close to GW. Pic from hpcrazy.com
  6. The site plan kind of looks like it was drawn up with a crayon. Sorry! To me, a park being planned 6 or 7 years in advance has to be a VERY good park. But what am I saying, I'm building a model roller coaster starting 3 years in advance.
  7. Here are the results. The only problem with bending this stuff with hot water is that the plastic is softer than before you heated, right now it is still soft. 100th post. The top is bending it with hot water. The middle left color is using model paint. The right one is woodworking paint. The bottom one is the connecter experiment.
  8. From what I've heard, the ride has been moved to Dream World Park in Thailand Here's a few pics taken of the ride at it's new location and some at HP from the Dream World website, rcdb.com, and hpslappy.com Also, on the side on the ore bucket cars there is wording. Does anyone know what the wording said? This is one of my biggest questions I'm wondering. If you can see it in the distance, you can tell it's the ride because it has those large arms on top of the supports. Pic from rcdb.com Here's a close up of one of the cars. I can tell that the bigger wording says COAL. Pic from HP Crazy.com This is what the cars look like now in Thailand. Pic from the Dream World website. A view from comet hollow. Pic from hpslappy.com
  9. Yersterday I went to the hobby store and got some plastruct to experiment with. I'll put pics up later of the test. I found that running it under hat water for 2 to 3 minute make the plastruct very flexable. With the paint test, I used model paint and woodworking paint. The model paint gave it a very realistic finish and the woodworking paint look dull on it. The last test was how to connect it. I drill some hole into the plastruct and connected them with a metal rod.
  10. Tornado has a cool entrance sign. Is this your home park?
  11. My guess is use a VERY tall cherrypicker. Tornados? Very small chance of all those factors happening at the same time and if I would be one of those people stuck I would be scared out of my mind! -Chris-
  12. From what I heard Magic Mountain is open on weekends, but that's the only one I know of. There's possibly more.
  13. Thanks. A while ago I heard a rumor of another Skyride going back into the park that would use that same Rhineland station and have a station over where the Rodeo is. As you can see it is not true because the station is like facing Great Bear so curving is not possible making this rumor false. It's sad though because the Sky Ride was the only transport ride in the park and being a big park it does a number on your feet. Trust me after going from Roller Soaker to the front in a swimsuit is 5 minutes, they really need to put another one in!
  14. After buying a book on Hersheypark's history I came across this one ride just like the Skyview. The sky Ride traveled from Rhineland to Minetown from 1974-92. Becides the pics in the book I am looking for more pictures and info about the ride. When I was little I loved these rides. -Chris-
  15. A rumor from Screamscape says that the might be a kids themed area in 2008 called Kilimanjaro might be added to were the Python is. It also said that the local news heard that the park tried demolition permits for the coaster and ViVi Resturant, but the city wants a more detailed plan so there is a chance of the Python being saved, but I'm not betting on it.
  16. After a couple of months of trying to create the "perfect" park I have finally finished one! The park is called Manhattan Escape. I have also had the park owned by a company (just like Six Flags) called Coaster Corparation or Coaster Corp. There is a story line to this park and eventually I will add more parks to add on to the company (also like Six Flags). Here are some pics and a download. Enjoy! -Chris- Manhattan Escape.zip RCT2 Park&Scenario-Manhattan Escape The FUN FACTORY has a compacted hyper coaster called Verticality and a LIM launched coaster called Tower Twister. The Thunderloop and THE BOARDWALK. An overall view of COAL TOWN. The last of the areas is THE H2O ZONE. Filled with water rides it also has some beach or aquatically named rides like the Sea Eagle which flies over the entire park. Across from THE BOARDWALK is THE FUN FACTORY. Having 2 coasters, this is the area for thrills. The 2nd of the park's 4 themed areas is called THE BOARDWALK. The centerpiece and the only coaster in there is the Thunderloop. This is a Schwartzkopf. The second coaster in COAL TOWN is called Coal Monster. As an out and back mine train, it features a tight turn followed by a fly through station. A closer view of Dynamite Blast. This park also includes rides that other RCT fans created. I'd like to thank them. This is the fully completed park. This pic shows that small parks can't be gigantic. With over 70 rides and attractions in this 56X56 layout there is no room for expansion. A picture of the mine themed area called COAL TOWN. The gigantic compacted woodie in the center is called Dynamite blast.
  17. Thank You. I'll look into it as soon as possible.
  18. If you're thinking of the Orient Express at WOF, according to rcdb.com it closed in 2003 and it didn't say anything about it being moved so nope! Looks like it was scrapped. My favorite element (also my first) is the Jojo roll. As the train flips over your body pushes against the restraint.
  19. THANK YOU! You gave me a lot of helpful info that I will remind myself of doing on the site plans. Just a question. Can you buy plastruct at a craft or hobby store or do you have to order it?
  20. Ok, here's the details from the stations to the end break run. NOTE:These notes might be changed over time. *The area in the loading and unloading stations will be on a 1 to 2 degree downward slope to eliminate the use of any motors ( becides the brakes). *The highest point of the ride(or the lift hill) will be 48 inches tall. 1 foot of that will detach from the track because of space issues. *The second highest point will be 21 inces tall because of friction issues. *There will be 8 inversions. * The track will be made of smooth sanded wood, with the possibility of a ring of metal surrounding the track. *There will be 6 max banking points that will be 90 degrees. 2 of them will include a drop, 1 will be an upward rise, and 2 are helixes. * The trains will sit 2 people per car and there will be 2 trains with 4 cars each. *There will be 8 brakes, 2 in the stations, 1 at the base of the lift hill, 1 at the top, 2 on the brake run, and 2 will be for the transfer track section. *The brakes will be battery or electric, if that fails I'll use the rope and pulley technique. *I forgot to add this, but the cars will each feature only 1 set of wheels to make them articulated. Tonight I hope to start drawing a detailed drawing of the site plan, I'll try to post pics of it ASAP. -Chris-
  21. I heard that wood can be flexable if you use water, but if that doesn't work maybe cutting the curves out on a wide sheet of wood would work. To reduce the friction it might be possible to cover the track with metal or sand the track down to a 360 grit sandpaper. By the way I am not going to have the trains look like mice or rabbits, I'll just remove them from the layout of the cars. This weekend I'll try to start the main site plan draw-up. By the way I'm 14. I'll put that on my profile. I'll tell this afternoon in great detail all the little things about and going into the project.
  22. With a new coaster design created, I haven't seen any new names! Please post more names for the coaster, you have the power to choose the name for this great coaster model! Happy thinking and good luck!
  23. So far I have only ridden only 1 invert that being Talon. Having just starting to ride coasters, I will ride some more in the future. They're cool!
  24. There's a chance I might go there next year and I WILL ride that thing. It seems like a cool ride, but I don't think it would be a coaster for the whole family to ride, but Maybe a die-heart roller coaster family yes, but with all the twists, curves and the speed I'd say no.
