Ok, here's my solution and most people already know this, but in Ohio school's are all in session until at least the first week of June. Cedar Point opens May 14th for pretty normal hours. Try to go during those times if you can, there is no one there but all us losers who are able to be "absent" from work while the kids are still in school. One tip though, check the website ahead and DON'T go on the day it says is Physics & Math day, that day is RIDICULOUS as all schools are invited. Other than that, if you can get there in the first 3 weeks it's open, it's a pretty easy adventure.

I know Robb hates it when we post links to other sites, but this is great. Looks like one of Robb's videos, but can pretty much guess it was done by KI as there is no "crowd noise" anywhere in the vid. Bring sback memories, especially the double nut busters at the end. Any guy that rode this knows exactly how that seat jammed you on those last two hills. http://www.kicentral.com/history/videos/kingcobra.php

Since it seems like we spend a lot of time on here discussing all kinds of crap, let's talk about real crap. Which park/parks do you think have the best bathrooms? Cleanest? Most per visitors? I think Disney tends to be really good at keeping up their restrooms for visitors. Cedar Point seems to have the most spread out. Seems like they only 5 for each throughout the whole park.

I can remember going to this small park as a kid. Did anyone else ever go there? I remember have to ride the ferry over to it and they had some decent coasters. Too bad the place fell apart. Reminds me of a Canadian Americana.

Ok, I think we've gone through this before, but couldn't find anything while searching. Map any themeparks you can find in Google Earth and place a link here. I know some of them don't come in really well (i.e. Cedar Point) but it's still fun. Don't kill me or anything if you find the previous topic, will be fun to have a thread dedicated to this.

Rides that will never happen
Skramp replied to zaneymon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I always thought it would be cool to do something like X but different. Imagine a stand up coaster where the seats tilt to a laying position? Up the lift hill, then the drop is like 95 degrees down, as you crest the lift hill, the seats lay flat back and it basically is a drop ride, but when you hit the bottom, the sits go upright suddenly. You could have an outside raven turn with the seats laying flat almost like your feet and the world drop out from under you. Could be interesting........... -
Funniest Ride Experiences
Skramp replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So let's see, funniest moment? Has to be going on SOB the first year it opened. I'm pretty annoying sometimes, so as soon as the train left the station, I started screaming every expletive I could all the way up the hill, down the drop and around the helixes. I shut up until we went towards the loop then started yelling that "I just peed my pants!!!" People were cracking up all the way and when the train got back to the station, everyone was dying. It was pretty funny. I agree with just yelling random things, great way to freak people out. My favorite is "I think I see the mechanic carrying a piece of track, wonder when we'll come to that part" Most effective when going up the lift. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Skramp replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Talked to a friend who is/has been a ride-op at CP for 7 years. He said that it will be something that has never been seen before. Basically it's an AquaTrax, but here's the thing, it 's going to have a LOOP!!! I didn't get all the specs, but basically lots of themeing then a big drop into a loop which follows into a splashdown pool out of the loop!!! Not sure about the themeing, he said the sidewinding may have something to do with snakes, keeping with their animal theme (Raptor, Mantis) Might be something like Venom or Mamba or something. From what he told me, sounds incredible and one of a kind!!! -
Name That Park!!

Dang, I'm amazed someone actually figured out it was LeSourdsville Lake, I figured only someone from this area would get it right. But congrats. -

Flashback at SFMM Re-Opening???
Skramp replied to roller coaster fanatic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I loved Flashback when I rode it years ago at SFMM. I must have ridden 20 times that day cuz there was no line and I thought it incredibly fun. I sent our buddy Robb a message asking him to post a POV of Flashback, but never heard back from him. Hopefully he might read this and post one. Come on, we just got a POV of Windjammer, WHERE'S MY FLASHBACK POV!!!! -
Found this on another site. Looks like a drop ride at some Japanese park, but not sure!! Check out what happens: http://www.break.com/index/nohelpride.html

Dang, I have to say I'm amazed. Three pages so far and not one person has mentioned probably the most overrated woodie of all time. Of course I am talking about the back-raping, knee-gashing, head-chucking Son of Beast. As this is at my home park, I know it well and still refuse to ride. Oooohh, it's got a big hill, and to quote Derek "A VERTICAL LOOP!!!!" But the ride SUCKS. For those that have never ridden it, if you ever have the chance, make sure you go on that right before you leave PKI. It will destroy you and you won't be able to ride anything else. As far as steel goes, I'm not really sure. I've ridden a bunch but none that stand out so oh well.

What is the best coaster in your home park?
Skramp replied to MattJackson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My home park is PKI so I would have to say The Beast, but my personal favorite is Flight of Fear, I love that crazy thing. I really want to road trip to ride Poltergeist, Joker's Jinx and the other Flight of Fear. -

Dude, nice fuzzy pics, and do you know how to rotate your pics so I don't have to break my neck to see them? JK...not...anyways, good report, but work on presentation for next time. -
Ok, so I like everyone else am sad to see Astroworld closing. But remember we live in a capitalistic society where all that matters is the almighty dollar, so why not sell it and get all the money you can. (sense the sarcasm) But anyway, in my 30 years on this planet, I've seen many parks and rides gone, so just add this to the list. Sorry to all the people who's homepark it was. Now, onto some fun. I'll put money on it that the new owner of Six Flags will be Daniel Snyder. Now, since they don't really seem to like him too much, I can see them keeping somethings from him when he buys the company. Like what if they kept the Six Flags name, the different parks names, and the contract with DC Comics? That could get really interesting. But, knowing Snyder, he's a greedy chum who will do anything for money so he might sell the naming rights to the parks to the highest bidder. So here's the game: Take your favorite SF park and rename it with your favorite corporate tag, and if you feel like it, add a new slogan also. Here's mine: SFMM=FedEx Supreme Summit

Gotta admit, had been waiting to see this post since we're in the height of the season, so I'll throw my 2 cents in. 1) I hate driving two hours to a park only to find out that there's a 3 hour wait for a coaster. Makes no sense. Obviously once they get your money and get you in the gate, they don't care what your experience is like. 2) Gotta say it, and I can't believe it hasn't been said yet, but I hate ACErs. Like someone said before, it's annoying when someone in line thinks they know everything, but ACErs take it a step further. Proof: On a trip to PKi while waiting for SOB, I had an ACEr in front of me. Here was his story, "This ride is 218 feet tall, goes 80 miles and hour and has a loop. It was my 335th coaster, 175th woodie and the only one I've been on with a loop." All this was said to his friends in line and it happened 3 YEARS AGO and I still remember it. Took all the restraint I had not to look at him and say, "Wow, that's fast, but I bet I can put my foot in your ass fast than that!!!' 3) Overall, I hate lines, I hate waiting, and I hate stupid people that make the wait longer or less bearable. You're there to have fun, not bash your ex, fight with you current in line or anything. 4)Oh, almost forgot, I HATE PDA in lines. Nothing worse than having to stand there for a hour and watch two people go at. Although entertaining at first, if you ain't going to get naked and just go at it, stop the liplock!!!! (sorry, had to say it) Whew, I feel much better now, thanks!!

I'm impressed that Chaos was open, that's amazing. Sounds like you had a great time. Hoping to go back soon myself. Oh yeah, here's the obligatory Demon Drop photo I was talking about. Everyone I know has one of these somewhere. The obligatory Demon Drop Photo

Hey ya'll. I'm going to be in Pittsburgh over Labor Day for a wedding and was thinking about heading down to Kennywood on that Sunday. How crowded would it be then? What rides do I definitely need to hit? Anything else to do in that area? Thanks.

What is your local park?
Skramp replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
PKI all the way!!!! Just Kidding, I think it's now called "CBS presents the park formerly known as Kings Island" or something. -
During the week, lines shouldn't be too bad. Don't forget though, we're getting the effects of Hurricane Dennis this week so could be wet. Photos, food and the like are all normal park prices. Photos? I have no idea. Watch out though, TTD might not be running if it's raining. They have a couple DDR's in the main arcade on the midway. Don't forget to take the obligatory photo of the Demon Drop when you get there, everyone has one in their collection. And oh yeah, no more Chaos, was there a few weeks ago, all signs taken down and cars off structure. Don't think we'll be seeing that ride operating there again after the problems at other parks. Have fun
