Wood all the way. The way the structure shakes, the look and sound, no steel coaster can beat a good woodie. Airtime is better on woodies (Single-position lapbars/lapbars with an inch of clearance + extreme airtime = more fun then any airtime steel coaster) and inversions are very boring if theres no positive Gs, (except Zero-G rolls with their spectacular floater air). Did i mention I like wooden coasters better then steel ones?

Can you give us more pictures of the new rides? I'd like too see the entire layout of Grand Prix. Is there anything after the top hat, or is it just a TTD/KK clone? Also, when will we be able too download the park, and what custom scenary sets will we need? -
Best Themed Queue Line
asr replied to eskater132's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Out of all 22 coasters and various flat rides I have been on, the winner is... Disaster Transport, Cedar Point. But only because the parks i've been too are cedar point (most people say TTD is CP's best themed ride) Six Flags Great Adventure (A nice, fairly well themed park, but themed queue lines? none that I could see) and Six Flags New England (where the best theming of the coasters is a tie between S:ROS and B:TDK, which are barely themed at all!) -

I just put the finishing touches on my coaster, and since I could't think of any more improvements to make, I decided to release the ride. competitionfinal.dat The finished ride! -
Your favorite coaster tunnel
asr replied to chavslayer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only rode two coasters with tunnels, Millennium Force and Superman Ride of Steel at SFNE, so I have too say S:ROS has the best tunnels i've been on. The first one, the clearence seems so tight, like your arms would be chopped off going through it, and on the second, theres the awesome mist. -

Goliath at SFoG is a full size hypercoaster. It's just over 200 feet tall. The only B&M speed coasters that can be considered junior hypers are Goliath at La Ronde (174 feet tall) and Apollo's Chariot at BGE (170 feet tall). However, if your like me and think that a full-size hyper is a full-circuit coaster with a lift hill between 200 and 299 feet tall or with a drop of 200 to 299 feet, Apollo's Chariot is a full size hypercoaster. -

New Multi-Million dollar atraction at Albuquerque Amusment Park July 22nd, 2006 A brand new, massive multi-looping rollercoaster rises above the desert sand dunes of New Mexico at Albuquerque Amusment Park, towering 140 feet above sea level, and taking a 124 foot plunge down a hillside into a unique, action packed layout. "Declassified: Area 51 is a world class looping coaster like nothing else in the world, with five inversions ranging from a Corkscrew loop above a man-made lake to a pre-lift "JoJo Roll" element, plus several high-banked turns and hills", park spokeswomen Linda Harrison was quoted as saying at a press conference earlier today. The new ride is a 10 million dollar plus steel roller coaster built by renowned Swiss manufacturers Bolliger and Mabillard. The 3,450 foot long scream machine has 5 acrobatic inverting elements that will make the riders fell like they are in a fighter jet high above the famed Area 51, a Loop, "Immelmann" an element named for famous fighter pilot Max Immelmann, a Zero G roll, which consists of a twist at the top of a hill, a Corkscrew loop, and a JoJo roll, a full 360 degree track twist located just before the first hill. The Ride is scheduled too open later this summer. Several new pictures have been released at the press conference. http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/1484/area51themedrl5.png The new ride is heavily themed, with several animatronics, props, and tunnels placed around it's some 2 thirds of a mile tracks layout. http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/3848/area51theminghn9.png The theming is designed to mimic the look of a top-sceret, high tech goverment reaserch facillity as closly as possible, including several buildings and alien machinery placed around the ride. http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/9669/area51station2fg2.png The high-tech station has a distinctive, ominous appearence. http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/5705/area51station1zb5.png No expensense was spared inside. http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/9353/area51jojoah5.png The rides unique "JoJo Roll" element consists of a 360 degree twist in the track just before the 140 foot ascent. The element is "heartlined" meaning the track twists so the riders heart is always in the same place, minimizing dangerous forces. http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/7607/area51frontgz2.png The rides first half contains two massive inversions, which are negotiated slowly, providing the thrill of hanging at the top, as well as two tunnels. Don't forget to smile for the camera in the second tunnel! http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/1263/area51backos5.png The ride's second half is made up of tight turns, which induce lateral forces throwing the rider to the side, creating the sensation of being thrown from the car, as well as a thrilling corkscrew loop and a harpin turn inside a pitch-black tunnel. http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/3944/area51nighttw9.png The ride is an impressive sight, towering above the dunes at the back entrance too the park. -

I just finished the track layout, but haven't started themeing yet. Here are some pics. They are links because they are very large, 1280 x 960 pixels resolution. http://img328.imageshack.us/img328/3562/compbeginningag5.png The rides beggining, with a Loop and an Immelmann. http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/5766/compzerogvd2.png A train negotiates the Zero-G Roll. http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/6404/compfinalevm0.png The twisted finale. http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/871/compjojoxf1.png You encounter a JoJo roll just before the 140 foot lift hill. http://img328.imageshack.us/img328/5796/compoverviewza7.png A helicopter view overview of the ride. http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/3303/complayoutxl4.png A top-down layout view with inversions marked in white text. http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/1917/compsunsetus3.png A panoramic view of the ride from just out side the park. I did make a different version of the ride that I liked better, that had an MCBR and a more complex turnaround built into the mountain, but it was over the maxium length allowed, so I had too trash it. You can download it at the bottom of the post. And before I start theming, I have another question. Is custom scenary allowed? competitionfailure.dat Failed version of the coaster. The total length was 3700 feet, just 200 feet over the limit. -

Worst/Longest/Slowest Line you ever waited in!
asr replied to Goliathdude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's either Nightwing at SFNE, Pandemonium at SFNE or Blizzard River at SFNE. Nightwing I waited in what looked like a 15 minute line for what had to be atleast a half hour-45 minutes because of horrid operations. When we finally got on however, it rocked and was definatly worth the wait. Blizzard River, I waited atleast 45 minutes in burning hot sun with no shade in what has got to be the most boring queue ever in my opionion, but the ride was also probably worth it, so I'm not complaining. But then theres Pandemonium. I waited atleast an hour in hot sun, with no shade, in a slow moving line where everyone was just sitting around talking and not moving except for me, and when I got on and rode it, it was piece of junk and not worth it at all -
10 Greatest RIDES.....Ever?
asr replied to BeemerBoy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Corkscrew at Cedar Point is not a standerd Arrow Corkscrew or Loop & Corkscrew, CP's Corkscrew is custom design. Back on topic, I definatly think that Drachen Fire and Kumba where influential. They paved the way for modern looping coasters. Also Arrow and Schwarzkopf shuttle loops where influential, they paved the way for modern shuttle coasters. And of course, you can't forget Arrow Corkscrew coasters, without which we might not have looping coasters today. And Bandit at Yomiyoriland I think should be considered an influential ride, it pioneered the style we see on rides like modern Hypercoasters. -

asr replied to goleafsgo's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Change the station and brake run. No track should EVER touch the ground. Also, the twister section looks unrealistic. You should scale it down to something more reasonable, maybe something like S:ROS at SFNEs twisting section. -

asr replied to BelizeIt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would go too BGW in 1992 to ride Drachen Fire, Riverside Park 1983 for Cyclone, SFMM 1978 for Revolution without OTSRs and Collossus, Kennywood 1991 for Steel Phantom, Nagashima Spaland 2000 for Steel Dragon 2000, and if I was feeling daring, Crystal Beach 1920s for the Cyclone. I'd probably chicken out on Crystal Beach Cyclone though. Atleast I can ride it in NoLimits and noT get my ribs smashed too death. Oh, and maybe Cedar Point 1991 for Mean Streak running as it was intended to. -

Either Scream, Tomahawk, Time Warp, Nightwing, or Catapult at SFNE. Out of those, it's too hard too decide which is my favorite. Scream has great views and airtime, Tomahawk has airtime and the fun spinning, Time Warp has great views and the swinging motion, Nightwing has the flight sensation, and Catapult is forcefull. I'd have too say that Nightwing I can take of the list, because it was a bit boring and not that intense, and Time Warp as well, because it feels dated and is a bit boring. Tomahawk is fun, but nothing special, and Scream is too short and not very intense. Catapult wins then, because it is just crazy
