This coaster is really shaping up to be insane. It seems like it will just fly through it's course, and that first drop with the extremly low turn immediatly afterwards looks completly awesome. It looks like it might even be the best new coaster of 2007. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
asr replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I dno't have a link, just heard from a friend, and on CP's site. Something about guests of excessive height. And now I cant find it. Crud...sorry. Yes Cedar Point says that guests of excessive size are not permitted on some rides, however, this does not say a specific height... Nevermind, I looked it up, and CP DOES specify that men over 6'2" cannot ride, however, they also say; "Each person has different body proportions, so it is impossible to determine exact size and weight" So even that isn't specific enough to make a complete decision. Also, they have test seats on most major rides, Maverick included. -

Cedar Point hasn't actually said what the maximum height limit is for Maverick, just the minimum, which is 48 inches. If i'm wrong, could you please link to where it says that you have to be under 6' 2" to ride. Also, to anyone who has been on Storm Runner or Kingda Ka, do they have a max height limit, and if so, what is it? -

We will probably have one in mid August after the TPR midwest trip, or maybe even as soon as opening weekend (Coasterforce is going there for a CF Live on opening day). -

Actually, I heard that in the middle of the night, King's Dominion launches Hypersonic XLC at 160 MPH, so that they can hold the speed record. Fact. -

I heard that too, I just hope the S:ROS SFNE can be spaerd Actualy, now that I remember, S:ROS SFNE and Magnum are both sinking, so they are being switched this summer, because supposedly, due to 13562 year old Donkey magic, good rides cannot exist at Six Flags parks, and non-Intamin rides over 200 feet cannot exist at Cedar Point. Unfortunatly, since Magnum is a good ride too, only CP lucks out, and SFNE gets screwed. Atleast S:ROS doesn't get eaten by trash cans... -

Six Flags used to have a policy that hobos couldn't be allowed in the park because they would scare the children, but recently, that has been removed from most of their parks for cost reasons. This new family friendly Six Flags sure is something Also, I was listening to some celtic music CDs that my pen pal in Scotland lent me, and strangly enough, whispered in the background where lyrics in the latin that spoke of how Togo would build a 200 foot tall looper in the southwest in 1997, and that 10 years to the day from it's opening, the end of the world would arrive, unless Intamin opened 3.5 rollercoasters at Cedar Point before then. That is why Cedar Point had "Serial Killer Open House Day" last november, so serial killers could ride the half completed Maverick to break the curse. The lyrics went on to say that Togo, in revenge would build a 300 foot tall looper at Enka Fair, and that to be accepted by the world and not thought of as overweight geeks who eat at a buffet for every meal, every coaster enthusist in the world would have to ride it -

At least MF has never had the status: SBNO (Standing but not operating) That's what they want you to think. Ever since late in the 2001 season, Cedar Point has been abandoned, and most of the midwest is now just a simulation so that the goverment can have hobos take down Cedar Point. Everything should be complete on October 31st, 2009, everyone in the midwest will wake up on November 1st, and find that Cedar Point is closing forever, to make way for Xbox & Hamburger Land: The All American Amusment Park, which will have an Arrow death machine looper, a boring and rough Arrow suspended, a horridly unreliably Arrow 4D, a incredible painfull dueling S&S Thrust Air coaster, and a wheel chucking Morgan hyper, along with a selection of stupidly badly built kiddie rides by Chevy. EDIT: The guy who managed to post at the exact same time as me is also a conspiracy. He is working on a Belgian goverment approved plan to poison exported choclate, which will then destroy America. -

Except Steel Dragon 2000 was built by Morgan, not Arrow. Also, if Steel Dragon 2000 was decided on by the US goverment, why didn't they build it in a US park? Of course, I didn't believe you anyway, and allthough you're story was interesting, I can't have people spreading misinformation. You see, I am a KGB agent hired by Intamin to brainwash the public into thinking that their rides are safe, and to sabotage US built rides. Of course, do have any reason to believe me? -
Tabloid celebritys (Why do supermarkets waste space on stupid tabloids?), and Gangsta rappers (bad music).

Not until very recently actually, I hated coasters until I decided that I would try and work my way up from Blue Streak to the bigger rides when I was at Cedar Point. As luck would have it, my dad decided to go straight to Millennium Force, but I decided that I would ride it later in the day. However, my dad convinced me that the lines would be too long any later. The ride was a walk-on, there was absolutly no-one there, except me, my dad, my brother, and my sister (who was just 5 or 6 years old at the time). Suspensefull music was playing. We got on, and soon enough we went up the lift hill, when my sister delivered the killer line... "I just remembered, I'm afraid of heights". After that, everything was a blur, what I do remember was that I screamed as much as I could, I practically lost my voice half way through the ride. I was so dizzy when I got off. And that's my story.

I got back to work on the park today, and finally made enough progress to warrant an update. I gave the retro area a much needed sprucing-up and other then that... Added some fencing. The finished restaruant , home of the Pineapple and Jalepeno Pepper Pizza. It's named "Hawaiian Harbor Bar and Grill". A nice shot of Great White. Just what is that in the background? The wooden coaster, a 1970s era Out and Back coaster named Flyin' Eagle is only just about 100 feet tall, but it towers over the entrance plaza. The new ladder game. The park is still 100% non-custom scenary. The back half of the retro area, updated and looking ready for opening day 2007! The front half of the retro area has transformed from bland and grey to a whirlwind of colors. Thats it for now! -

Man looking at the PointBuzz pictures from yesterday, the lake under the turn before the heartline roll is disgusting, I doubt it's like that during the season though. Also, I'm pretty sure that the perimiter road that runs right alongside Maverick is open now, and from a Trip Report I saw a few days ago, it seems like everyone who drives up it ends up congregating around the Maverick construction site watching it test without Cedar Point security doing anything. -

What Are Your "Coaster Goals" For 2007?
asr replied to jappi's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I want to ride Maverick or Griffon, and get my 25th credit. I could actually easily get my 25th credit, but I'm not a credit whore so I refuse to let my 25th coaster be a kiddie coaster. -

I've been working on the park for the first time in a few days, and I now have something to show you, with first shots of a new coaster! The park's main street and entrance plaza. I'm only very early in construction of the new themed area, Hawaiian Harbor, here is the small boardwalk area, a restaruant will go here eventually. VeCOMA! Aeriel view of the Vekoma ride. It is named "Great White" and is the main attraction in Hawaiian Harbor. Overview of the park so far, featuring early plans for future construction. Also, I am thinking that the Vekoma ride will go, becuase it sorta ruins the lake, but I want you're opinion. I will provide more screenshots if you need them to fully make you're decision. -
http://www.rcdb.com/ig34.htm?picture=3 GASM at SFGAdv. Ouch. Worst and roughest coaster I have ever rode. It sucks even more because I love the look of Arrow Loopers, and was really hoping it would be better then what I had heard about it.

Thanks everyone for you're help, I ended up getting to SFNE for opening day today. The weather was great, alittle chilly later on, but warm most of the time I was there. I woke up at 6 AM to go, and got out the door at 8:30 with my dad, arriving just after opening. We headed straight for Superman, but unfortunatly it was closed, and already had a half hour, 45 minute line outside the entrance, so we headed over to the south end, and did Batman twice, and then Mind Eraser once, and headed back over towards Superman, where the ride had opened, but my dad thought that the line would be shorter later on, so we skipped it. After that, we rode Nightwing, which was a walk-on, and headed over to the North End, riding the Turbo Drop side of Scream (All three sides where running, one of which was the combo mode, but the combo mode tower was testing only). We passed on Flashback because I didn't feel like getting beaten to a bloody pulp, and Pandemonium (Which has lost it's Mr. Six cut-outs) becauase for some reason the staff now thinks that the single rider line is for single riders with Flashpass only. After that, we rode Time Warp, then Catapult, and went to Cyclone, but it stalled on the lift, and they shut it down. After that, we headed down to Crackaxle Canyon, but Tomahawk wasn't running. I saw Cyclone testing, so we ran back down to the North End and rode it, then headed back down to Superman. To my horror, the line had only gotten longer, but since it would be stupid to miss out on it, we got in line. However, only one train was running, so the line was moving very slow, and then it broke down, but 15-30 minutes later, it was back up. Still just as great as last season, but I wish it was a little longer. After that, we decided not to stay till 7 like we planned, and headed back down to the North End, and hit Mind Eraser again, then went to ride Batman. We waited for the front row, but then the ride op said I had to ride in the fourth row, for reasons I cannot comprehend (They where going to let my dad ride, but if it was a size thing, me and him are about the same size). I ended up riding, but he mis-interpreted them as saying that no-one could ride in the front row and sat it out. The ride had gotten slightly smoother since morning, but to my disapointment, the trim before the Zero-G Roll was on (It was turned off that morning). We headed back to get our season passes processed, and I checked if Tomahawk was running, but it wasn't, so we finished up and left. Somewhat annoyingly, Tomahawk opened up right after we left at around 3:30. Total Ride Count; Batman: 3 Mind Eraser: 2 Superman: 1 Cyclone: 1 Catapult: 1 Time Warp: 1 Nightwing: 1 Scream: 1 And some observations about changes since last season; *As rumored, Wave Swinger has moved to right across from Batman, and been rethemed and named as "Gotham City Crime Wave" *Poison Ivy's Tangled Train is now Catwoman's Whip, but the theming and most of the signage hasn't changed any *Wiggles World looks terrible compared to Tiny Timber Town, lots of trees where taken out, and it lacks alot of the character it used to have The new Hall of Justice-ish attraction is called "Legion of Evil", will take the spot the Batman Thrill Show, and opens Memorial Day Weekend

Today I did a bunch of work, starting the Retro area. It is not themed to a specific era, but taking influence from 1950s archetecture, Rock N' Roll music, and 1920s/1930s passenger trains and Art Deco archetecture. You will also finally get to fully see the new coaster. The view driving into the parking lot, a coaster is visible to the right. The retro area, two coasters visible. The un-develped portions of the park. Aeriel view of the retro area of the park. The back half of the area. Aeriel view of the Screamliner coaster. The front half of Screamliner. And the back half. Coaster Fact Files; Name: Screamliner Type: LSM Launched Looper Company: Intamin AG Propulsion: LSM Lift, LSM Launch Height: 122 Feet Speed: 59 MPH Length: 3,634 Feet Drop: 104.5 Feet Duration: 1:09 Theme: 1930s Streamlined trains Colors: Silver and Tan Track, Silver Supports, Silver Trains Name: Rock N' Roll Rollercoaster Type: Family Company: Vekoma Propulsion: 3 Tire Lift Hills Height: 41 Feet Speed: 26 MPH Length: 1,374 Feet Drop: 24.5 Feet Duration: 1:09 Theme: 1950s Rock N' Roll/Rockabilly music Colors: Red Track, Blue Supports, White Trains And to finish up, here is a sucky MS Paint wallpaper foe Screamliner; http://tinyurl.com/2y9y43 -

If anyone is going to the backstage tour, please get a picture of the model of the coaster, I'm interested to see what the second half looks like. -
I was planning on going to Six Flags New England tommorow for opening day, but I have two questions. One, what should I suspect for crowds on opening day, and two, its going to be chilly (High 54, Low 37), will this be warm enough for Superman and Batman to operate?

Summerfield Theme Park, Omaha Nebraska
asr replied to asr's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I started on the park yesterday, but ended up not making much progress. I have the basic terrain of the park, with a hill in one corner, and a central lake, but for the most part flat. I ended up going with plain grass for most of the park, with mud around the lake (I was going to use sand, but didn't think it fit, looked too tropical). However, I don't want grass everywhere, and I was thinking of using rough grass as a diferent thing, but want your opinion. Two different terrain textures, the lightened one uses light sand placed on every other sqaure for a lighter appearence. I also started work on a coaster, but the scenary around it and the themed area it will be in are only in very early stages, so all you get are teaser shots. New coaster, notice the train tracks as scenary. Onride view, looking over the drop towards the immelmann. -
See Page 8 for latest updates and download. I am starting my new park, it will include all of the improvements you wanted for Pinewoods Lake, including better teraforming, better pathways, and more ride-path interaction. It will also be a much larger park then my first, I'm hoping for ten or so coasters. But I need your advice. The premise of the park is that it is a major amusment park 10-15 miles outside of Omaha, Nebraska, and for this I'm trying to get a good terrain texture that fits the great plains setting. My idea was to use the mud terrain, then have every other sqaure be smooth sand. This is how it turned out; So, I want your opinions on if this looks good and accurate for the setting.
