Shivering Timbers fall to mediocrity
almightyfire replied to N'at Man's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think that also what happens is when we ride a coaster over and over it loses its appeal, I was a Texas Giant fanatic and it used to really excite me. I would ride it at least 10 times when i vist SFOT but now I am immuned to it and I rode it just once in April. Next year Texas will have to get a new big and not a family coaster at one of its parks or I will not get a season pass next year because I have ridden the coasters in the parks so much I just sit there on all of them and say uh huh I am ready to go. -

I am sorry I cant wait to ride this montroscity. It looks so damn challenging. See big coasters that go up and down look very intimidating to me that is what adds the excitement. -
TR Blackpool Pleasure Beach 23rd June
almightyfire replied to martynlfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This seems to be the most non themed park I have ever seen. It looks like an overcrowded junkyard. That INFUSION ride is just a clone of Serial Thriller from Six Flags parks. -

I never understood the logic of having 2 of the same types of coasters in a park. V2 and Deja Vu. -
Whatever the circumstance is it was an accident and yes people have to pay but this still is a rare ACCIDENT. This isnt the last accident that will happen at a park. It is truly horrible and my heart goes out to the girl and her family but come on now there are thousands of freak accidents in the world, meaning these accidents are rare and unexplainable, we all see Six Flags testing their rides everyday and if they thought there was a remote chance of this happening these types of rides would be closed down.. It is horrible that an accident makes us more aware but that's life and yes someone should pay but I doubt it is down right neglect.
-
THIS WAS A FREAK ACCIDENT. This ride isnt that old and no one and I mean no one would ever image this happening. This isnt neglect on Six Flags at all. The cable snapped. Plain and simple. Six Flags and Imtamin are gonna have to compensate them but not necessarily their fault. Everyone is gonna be sued. That is how it is done. I have some stock in Six Flags and I am sure the shares are gonna decrease, but not enough for me to pull out. I still have faith that the stock is gonna rise in the future.

I dont know much about physics but I assumed the taller the lift hill and the drop the faster the ride would go. I dont believe that if the lift hiss was slowed that it would slow the entire ride down. Maybe they needed some more loading time to avoid stacking. Just conjecture not fact. I am just thinking.

Photo TR: Matt goes to Dorney Park...
almightyfire replied to mateony's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I felt the same way when I went. I thought it was a kiddie park. Now I thought it was extremely clean and coiffed landscape wise but I was ready to leave an hr after I got there. I still say Cedar Fair gives all the good rides to Cedar Point. There need to be more thrills there. -
I agree with the opionions posted, but Six Flags was always voted the number one theme park until recently. People stopped going because of poor operations and with this generation of couch potato kids, no one wants to get out and get exercise. I just dont want any park known for coasters to forget what got them there and abandoned the world THRILL PARK. No ones goes to a park to ride the new Bugs Bunny Adventure.

I have never been there but from the website I didnt see much that would make me go. it needs another good coaster. I know that everything is family what ever that means. No one will be able to get the Disney crowd. Six Flags was always the next step up for children when they got too old and too big for Disney. This park is extremely small. I am a coaster buff and when I go to a lot of parks with big coasters I see families in line also. I have seen kids cry because they were too short to get on the bigger rides. What do people think happens when the kids get 10 yrs old, they want to ride coasters. I was at SFMM a couple of weeks ago and there were just as many small kids inline for X and Tatsu as any other ride. I am not talking about infants. Cedar Point is a coaster park and people fly from all over the world to ride their coasters. There were quite a few people from out of the country at SFMM also who flew across the Pacific hell the Atlantic to go there. All Six Flags needs to do is speed up operations and clean the parks but also keep competing with Cedar Fair but no one can compete with Disney ever.

Overrated Parks
almightyfire replied to What Now's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
CEDAR POINT for me. It has no atomshere at all. It is just a big blob of concrete. The coasters are extremely overrated. It does seem like Maverick will be a reason to go. Millenium is really overrated, etc. It needs some trees -
The Best Six Flags Park
almightyfire replied to Axman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Magic Mountin is my favorite because of the coasters and the scenery. Next is SFFT for its themeing and Great Adventure because of NITRO AND EL TORO but Great Adventure was totally run down when I went last yr. That actually is the worse park I have ever been to. MOst of the rides were broken down and trash everywhere and too many rowdy teens. Things that I have heard said about SFMM that I have never experienced. SFFT is a beautiful park but lacks in thrills and SFOT is nice but they need another major ride. I have kinda gotten bored with it. -

I am just looking at the past. The other Cedar Fair parks dont have mega coasters like Cedar Point. The attendance really wont go up now that they are removing rides. Cedar Fair would never spend money on a 21 million dollar coaster for their other parks. The rides that were named that the other parks got arent that great where you have to run to them. They are mediocure rides that were placed just to pacify the people at that particular park. The same with SF. Magic Mountain and Great Adventure get most of the sho nuff rides while the other sf parks get baby rides. Now before someone writes me back naming ONE ride that they might consider big, no other Cedar Fair Park has a millenium force or top thrill and no other SF park has an X, Tatsu or a Kingda Ka or El Toro -
Waiting in line...
almightyfire replied to swampfox's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I abhore waiting in line. I went to magic mountain a few weeks back and most of the rides were walk ons. I was able to ride mostly everything multiple times in 5 hrs. I mean just sit on the rides and ride over and over. The older I get the more impatient I become. I just want to walk up to a coaster and have no more than a 3 car wait. I will never go to a park on a Saturday hell even a Sunday in some. -

Thats bizarre. The Villian is one of my favorite coasters. I was there in 2000 and I rode it 20 times that day. It had a suprising punch to it, It totally took me by surprise, but why r they removing rides from this already small park? That flying coaster was horrible and why would they want to move it to kings island. Are they too cheap to buy a new coaster? Trust me Cedar Fair is gonna neglect those parks just like the others because Cedar Point gets all the attention. -
I went to Magic Mountain july before last and didnt see any of the problems I hear u all talking about on here. Not one gang member, no line jumping and X was open and running all trains. I didnt see any garbage at all. "This is the best park in the world ride wise. Magic Mountain has every type of coaster made in the united states except they need an el toro there. I just left there this past May and still didnt get shot at or cursed out or no one jumped inline infront of me. Last year I went to Great Adventure and what you all have been talking about I saw there. Great Adventure was the most ragged, nasty, grafitti, broken rides and a whole lot of undeserible ghetto people who jump in line, but I never hear anyone bash them. MAGIC MOUNTAIN is a wonderful place and it is beautifully landscaped. It isnt a Busch Gardens but it is nice. Heck Cedar Point has no and I mean no themeing at all and everyone loves it for some reason. Maverick is the only coaster there that looks like it would turn me on. I like Nitro better than Milleniun, Alphengheist beter than Raptor, Riddler better than Mantis I could go on. Magic Mountain is also better than Kiddie Knotts Berry Farm. I went there also and it was a total waste of money. I am from Texas so I have no loyalty no any park so I am speaking on experience. Magic Mountain is the best place in the US and when it gets an El toro or Voyage it will be the best place on earth.

How many landrys' resturants or any seafood restuarant have you been to that are quiet? _________________ My tribute to Astroworld...http://www.oldastroworld.com Last edited by fmulder21 on Mon Jun 04, 2007 9:48 am No I was responding to the sarcasm above. I dont care about the noise. I wont be eating there. It was just an observation. No restaurant is quite all the way, but none and i mean none have the sound of a rollercoaster roaring right by the window of the restaurant with 36 screaming passengers. So I dont understand why someone would think that wasnt a valid observation.

I see a lot of people rave about SFOG but when I look at the stats and the height and elements of the coasters, it seems like a kinda lame park. GOLIATH is the first coaster that I have seen there that might interest me. I dont see a really good up to date woodie there and I dont see a mega steel coaster either except GOLIATH. It kinda reminds me of ASTROWORLD. Holiday World seems to be a nicer park with 3 nicer coasters. SIX FLAGS parks are too cloned to me.

Hi gang. I went to Seaworld in San Diego on Sunday May 13. It is totally not what I expected. It is a beautiful park but I was totally let down. I assumed that I had as many or more coasters than in San Antonio. I was in for a rude awakening when I got in and found out that they only had the Journey to Atlantis. The park crowds were very light. I got on the J to A within 10 mins. It is beautifully themed and totally fun. Much better than that crap they are building in San Antonio. Then I went over to a few attractions and rode the skyride for $3.00 which was relaxing over the Marina. It is a round trip. This is a very beautiful park but most Busch parks are. Got some popcorn which is the best I have ever had and left. This is a nice park but a few coasters would be a great addition, It was a total waste of money. $57.00 plus $10.00 to park. I was there about 2 hours. Then I went to the Pacific Beach and walked around. San Diego is the most beautiful place I have visited. I wish I could move there but cant afford it. hahahahah PHOTOS BELOW http://picasaweb.google.com/almightyfire1/TRIPTOSEAWORLDSANDIEGO The next morning monday 05-14-07 I woke up and drove to SFMM. I got there before park opening. The park opened at 10:30 with no crowds at all. It was about 300 of us waiting at the gate. They had a cute parade with a float consisting of Batman and Wonderwoman. The gates opened at !0:30 and we took off. I ran to Tatsu for my first ride ever. I was out on the first train. This was my first time on it and It was incredible. Now I dont know if i can say it was enjoyable but it was a strange feeling when it dove into the loop. At the bottom of the loop a lot of pressure is on ur head. It felt like I was gonna get a nose bleed. All n all it didnt give me the same feeling of excitement I got when I first rode X. They had 2 trains on one side. Then on to Deja Vu. They wouldnt let me ride because it wasnt enough people in line yet so i went to Riddler where I was the only one on the train. I rode it 4 times in a row. Then to Batman where I walked right on. Then to Scream which is totally amamzing. Got 4 rides in without getting off. It was a walk on also. Colossus was next. Walk on also with one ride. Goliath was a walk on. Then I went to the greatest log ride in the world, THE LOG JAMMER. It was a total walk on and I rode it twice. Now it is about 11:45 and I went to X. I didnt ride because they only had one train running and the line was moving entirely too slow. 5min dispatches. So I ate and Panda Express and then rode VIPER. This thing still packs a nice punch and doesnt give me a headache like the Scream Machine at Great Adventure. It was a walk on and i rode it twice. Next went back to Deja Vu and the line didnt have that many people but the load times were horrible. It was a 7 to 10 min span between dispatches. I had been spoiled by walking on all morning so I just got out of line. Then on to the Goldrusher. I just love this darn Mine train. It was a walk on and I rode 5 times n a row. Then I did JET STREAM which was nice and I did the SPIN OUT where I got dizzy. Then I traveled up the hill to Ninja. It was a walk on and this is the best suspended coaster I have ever ridden. I rode it only once. Then to Superman. It was a walk on and I rode it 5 times but had to walk around each time, but that was fine because I was able to ride immediatly. Then i took the Orient express down to The Revolution. A total walk on. I rode it twice. This coaster has good memories for me because i was a kid when i went to see the movie ROLLERCOASTER and I said when i grow up I am gonna ride that and I finally did in 1993. After that I rode TATSU again. The load times were exactly 2 mins tops, I dont understand when I read on here that they are long because the trains are extremely easy to load and I mean when they let the trains into an upright position then open the lap bars, the gates immediatly open and the people jump right in. I dont see how in the world the slowest of a crew could take a long time loading this thing. It was a walk on all day also. I didnt do any flats except the spin out because I can do flats anywhere. You dont fly to the greatest amusement park in the world to ride flats. SFMM is the greatest park on earth TO ME. I dont see how people can not like it there. The parks terrain is gorgeous and the the ride all and I mean all use the terrain to their advantage. Most of the coasters there are one of a kind and I just love the way most of the rides are hidden by the trees. Now yes, I do agree that Scream should not have been built in the parking lot but it is totally fun. I like it much better than Medusa and Superman SFFT. GOLIATHS theming is very nice. This park is just beautiful to me. I left the park at 2:30pm and went to Hollywood to take some pics then off to LAX to catch my plane back to Houston. I did a lot in 2 days. I love this park much better than Cedar Point because of the terrain, trees and the collection of coasters. X and Tatsu out do any coaster anywhere else in the United States. Now all they need is an El Toro and the collection would be untouchable. It would be nice to use the terrain to their advantage to do a woodie because as u all know I will ride a good woodie way before steel. here is a list of rides I did in 4 hrs TATSU twice 2 trains RIDDLER 4 TIMES one train BATMAN once one train SCREAM 4 times one train COLOSSUS once one train GOLIATH twice one train LOG JAMMER twice VIPER twice one train GOLDRUSHER 5 times one train JET STREAM once SPIN OUT once SUPERMAN 5 times one train NINJA once once train REVOLUTION once one train I took pics of rides that arent normally taken. I am sure everyone has shots of TATSU AND X. All rides had one train operation except for TATSU. I normally frown on this, but all of the rides were walkons and 2 trains were totally not needed except for X. PHOTOS BELOW http://picasaweb.google.com/almightyfire1/SFMM051407
