  1. There was nothing wrong with it. It's one of the best parts of the ride. Great airtime there.
  2. ^ 1) Well of course! If you ride Dragster during the day, you won't have to worry about staying too late for platinum pass ERT, then you can get back home earlier than 2:30 am. 2) Famous Dave's is always a good choice, as well as TGI Fridays inside of Hotel Breakers. Inside of the park, Midway Market is pretty popular as well as Chickie's and Pete's. Make sure and check out the Sweet Spot at some point. They have some pretty amazing stuff in there. 3) Always start in the back of the park with Maverick. Even if you were late for early entry, start at Maverick, then go to Millennium Force. Never ride GateKeeper or Raptor in the morning unless you have time during early entry. The lines get outrageous in the morning since they are right at the front but they really die down in the afternoon/evening. Rougarou is the least busy in the morning and evenings, but the line moves very quickly! 4) Lockers are needed at GateKeeper, Top Thrill Dragster, Magnum XL-200, Millennium Force, Rougarou, and Shoot the Rapids. Magnum and Dragster share the same lockers and Rougarou and Millennium share the same as well. 5) Just plan your day accordingly to avoid lines and you can ride everything in one day! Make sure and ride Cedar Downs and Skyride. They're classics you can't miss. As for bag check, I've never really gone through the main entrance except maybe once or twice but I've never seen a bag check there.
  3. It's just as loud You can still hear it from across the park!
  4. I know the park itself has some good discounts. A regular weekday ticket for the time you're visiting can be purchased at cedarpoint.com for $44.99. You can also buy a combo ticket for CP and KI for $64.99. Since your trip is for three days, you could buy the combo ticket (which would take up 2 days) and then buy a regular one-day ticket for CP. That would bring your cost to $109.98. Divided by 3 days, that's $36.66 per park per day.
  5. Ride time generally includes load and unload time. It's basically the amount of time from when that particular train dispatches, to when that exact same train dispatches again at proper interval.
  6. I consider an "experience" as a credit. I consider rides like Gemini and The Racer to be one credit because it's just one experience. Then you have rides like Dragon Challenge which has two completely different layouts. However, I still consider it just one credit. Some people prefer one track and some like the other, but that's just the same as saying I prefer gatekeeper in back left rather than back right. Still all just one experience even though it's a different feeling ride. When it comes to Rougarou, I might be a little biased, but I will count it as new. This ride is gonna be insane. It's definitely a new and very different experience and I'll count it as a new credit because of that.
  7. I rode it in February and it was one of the smoothest coasters I've ever been on. When did everyone become so wimpy and so over dramatic? A single bump and all of a sudden it's "rough." Damn.
  8. It really bothers me when people say you shouldn't use your phone at a park. I DO NOT use my phone on rides, except for an observatory ride such as a train or elevator. Also, more and more parks are creating apps that are increasingly useful while you're in the park itself. For example, when I went to Florida in February, we used the app that Universal Studios had created to check out wait times and where a good place to eat was. Then, at Busch Gardens, their app would actually give you directions on how to get to another attraction. Also, I like to take pictures at parks! I don't go crazy and take a picture of EVERYTHING, but I'm taking momentos and of course I would wanna take a few selfies with friends. I don't see the harm in wanting to take pictures with your friends or family while you're on a vacation. And the biggest thing I bring my phone for: I HATE waiting in lines. I'll generally buy a parks skip-the-line offering if I think it's worth the price that day. But sometimes it just so happens that I end up waiting a little bit. I'm pretty ADHD and just the simple act of standing and doing nothing really bothers me. So I have my phone to play games on, check facebook, all that kind of stuff. I will say this though, particularly at the Universal and Disney parks, my phone usually stayed away as the queues were highly detailed and entertaining in themselves and I enjoyed being immersed in the experience. My friend wanted to keep doing single rider lines, which I did a few times, but with Escape From Gringott's, Forbidden Journey, and a few others, I actually wanted to go through the line to see everything, especially because the wait was usually about 20 minutes. Like Robb said above, the use of selfie sticks and the use of phones, while related, they are completely different subjects in this context. My friend got whacked in the head with a selfie stick at Blue Horizons at SeaWorld, and there were several times at other Florida parks where we actually had to move out of the way to avoid getting hit. Ban them!
  9. I know what windbreaker you're talking about. There are TONS of them that actually say "VIP." They were given to season pass holders for free a few years back. I live 10 minutes from cedar point and the local goodwill stores have tons of those jackets that were donated since then.
  10. ^NLE aggravates me so much. There are some amazing designs on there and I love the inspiration I've got from it, but I'm absolutely sick of my designs being judged negatively because I don't use custom scenery. I'd make an excellent coaster, and even with a smooth track and solid support work, my scores would be low because I chose to focus on making a good COASTER rather than sharpen my sketchup skills. Ridiculous.
  11. ^Again. They can make a facebook post. FREE advertising right there.
  12. Let's not forget that the park could make a post on their facebook page for FREE and it would take off from there...
  13. I think you're mixing them up. Turnpike Cars are being removed, but Cadillac Cars will still be there.
  14. We went to Universal this past Monday and Tuesday and we rode everything we wanted to by about 3 or 4 pm the first day. The second day, we just relaxed and enjoyed the park and re-rode everything. Wait times were minimal. Gringott's was at about 20-30 minutes all day. We used the single rider line at first, but I REALLY wanted to go through the queue. The themeing was phenomenal. It was an attraction in itself! The "20 minute wait" was honestly just spent walking through the queue.
  15. Well it was pretty exhausting but totally a lot of fun! We also parked at each park and walked to the gates at each one, instead of taking the tram. Obvious exception is Magic Kingdom though. Very tiring day!!! haha
  16. Last Sunday, we stopped by Carowinds just to see Fury325 in person and take a few pictures. There were about 5 other cars of people there just taking pictures. There's clearly a lot of excitement for this ride!
  17. Just had a fantastic trip to Florida where we visited 9 parks in 5 days and had a great time doing it!!! This was my first visit to Disney World, and shockingly, we only went there for a day. We had Monday and Wednesday at Universal Studios (Most rides were a walk-on or close to it, including Escape from Gringott's), Tuesday at Busch Gardens, on Thursday we did ALL FOUR Disney parks, and Friday we went to Sea World. We also went to Fun Spot on Monday night. We started at Animal Kingdom right at 9 am and promptly got two laps in on Expedition Everest without waiting. Then, we headed to Primeval Whirl (no line) and rode it twice without getting off. After that, we rode Dinosaur and finished up with the Safari! Didn't wait for anything and left the park around 10:30. We made our way to Hollywood Studios where we waited a little over a half hour for Rock N' Roller Coaster. The efficiency of all Disney parks was very apparent here and the capacity-nerd in me could not stop drooling over how quick the cast members dispatch the trains. We then waited maybe 45 minutes for Tower of Terror and headed on over to Epcot... We didn't plan on going to Epcot, but we got done with everything we wanted at the other two parks super early, so we decided to use the single riders line on Test Track and experience that. The ride was pretty interesting but some of the scenes were slightly underwhelming. We ate in Mexico since it was closest to the front and we could leave the park quicker. Last but not least, Magic Kingdom! We arrived right at 2:50, just in time for the Festival of Fantasy Parade. We were right smack dab center in front of the flag pole and had an amazing view. I'm 21, but my childhood just came to life the second I saw the first float. The parade was so fantastic and really "transported" me into the world of Disney. When the parade finished, we waited maybe 20 minutes to meet Mickey. Seeing him not only talk, but respond to use was the most incredible thing. We headed on over to Space Mountain where we waited approximately 35 minutes. The order we rode everything after that is a little fuzzy, but we managed to ride Big Thunder (with FastPass+), Buzz Lightyear (walk-on), Haunted Mansion (FastPass+), It's a Small World 2x (walk-on), Jungle Cruise at night (walk-on), Pirates of the Caribbean (FastPass+), Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (25 minutes or so, but only because it broke down and the line dwindled), Carousel of Progress (walk-on), Enchanted Tiki Room (no wait), and the rest of my group did Splash Mountain with a 15 minute wait but I skipped it and got Dole Whip instead. I know that I didn't get the full Disney experience. I would LOVE to spend multiple days at each park and not rush it, but we planned the day as such so we could relax and enjoy our time at Magic Kingdom. With the short waits, we absolutely loved it and I can't wait to go back and see what else the park has to offer.
  18. GateKeeper is one of my favorites just for the fact that it's totally re-rideable and every seat provides a unique experience. I prefer the front right or the back left. They are both totally different. GateKeeper has an excellent first drop with fantastic forces at the bottom, followed by a pretty awesome airtime hill. Ever since the restraints were fixed to where they don't lock and tighten like they used to, the ride has only became better and better. I agree that it's not the most intense, but it's a winner because it's just plain FUN and that's what it's all about!!! I could ride GateKeeper all day. Meanwhile, my favorite ride at CP, which is Magnum, I can only do a few laps before I'd need to take a break. I have a friend who prefers GateKeeper to Raptor because while she isn't exactly a "coaster person," GateKeeper isn't as snappy or forceful and she wasn't as scared of it, despite the height. The big thing is, don't forget to have fun. Getting all the credits is important, I get that, but what's the point if you don't have fun doing it?
  19. New blog post is up showing some of the ridership numbers from the 2014 season! GateKeeper is still on top, followed by Millennium Force and Raptor.
  20. ^Length of the layout has absolutely nothing to do with it. In fact, it makes it less efficient, if anything. Banshee runs three trains because it has three blocks on the main brake run (if you also count the transfer block), one of them acting as a block brake, or as everyone around here calls it, a MCBR. The brake run is also rather long and the trains spend a lot of time slowly moving down it, then it stacks for a just a short time right in front of the station. So while in theory this "Iron Streak" could run 3 trains, I don't see it as capacity booster by any means, and there would always be a train sitting in front of the station for longer than necessary.
  21. Fun fact, since we're talking about the size of the park: It is exactly one mile from the front gate of the park to the entrance of Mean Streak!
  22. For those thinking CP is running out of room, I'm just gonna leave this here...
  23. I'm just going to completely ignore that article. It's nothing worth speculating over. With the dive coaster rumor, there's at least evidence to support it (biggest being the alleged memo) but that article was nothing more than what somebody WANTS the park to get.
  24. SF marketing team has done studies that by opening a ride aprox during memorial day weekend. They get guests to come back to the park for another visite or get them to buy a season pass. its a genius marketing. im surprised all the other parks don't do it. Because most parks have a more expensive pass that doesn't cater to the YOLO crowd.
