  1. Sounds good to me! I really hope that when she and I are at the park it is on one of those rare "sunny washington" days But i guess it would not be the true Seattle experience if she doesn't get to see the rain (and boy does she hate rain!)
  2. Raptor at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. This was my first big coaster and I still love it to this day! I love the quick directional changes, the pacing of the inversions, and the force you feel in the final helix is awesome! I remember riding it 19 times strait once, and I never had a bad ride!
  3. All of this sounds really good! the fact that they only recruited employees for 2-3 months kind of surprises me. I would have thought that they would have done it for at least a few months before the season and then most of the actual season. I would say that recruiting all year could be a way to find better employees. The better incentives may not hurt either. I sure hope that they fix up Rolling Thunder, because I don't think that just having both sides running will be enough to change my opinion of the ride. It just felt like the cars were running over rocks (but then again, that is just my opinion). 100th post!
  4. that more or less. What i was also looking for was kind of timeline do you two usually have to plan it all? Do you call the coach compies directly or is there a website that you go to for quotes for multiple companies? Same with the hotels, to you contact them directly or go to a travel agent or a site like Travelocity? Anything else that goes into it? Just stuff like that. Sorry if you thought I was too vague
  5. Hey Robb and Elissa, I was just curious to find out what exactly the process is that you guys go through to plan the trips like last years UK trip and the trips this year. It would be interesting to know how exactly you guys do it, as I am sure it is a time consuming process.
  6. Certainly looking like a great build so far! I would bet that in Intamin made a coaster with the layout you are making it would be a sweet ride! I love the way it goes from an overbank to a twisting turn to a turn in the other direction.
  7. well if anything the two rides you listed as your favorite are two I have yet to go on I don't know if it would be as good as El Toro, but It does look like it has a cool and original layout. When was it that you went when the line was really short? I think that my fiancee and I will be going on the 13th of July which is a friday (I will have my horseshoe with me ) and I wonder if there would be any lines really for the ride side on a friday or if it would pretty much all be at the water park like it has been the times I have been there.
  8. Odie, Would you say that TimberHawk was a ride you would re-ride and enjoy or was it kind of a sleeper for you? I am excited about going out there this summer and seeing how it is.
  9. Maybe the award you recive is the Bunghole Teepee Trophey
  10. Volcanomania is at Kings Dominion on April 14th. It is an event being put on by Coaster Zombies, and membership is not required to attend. It is $20 if you have a kings dominion or cedar fair max pass, and $40 with out. There will be an hour ERT on both Volcano and Flight of Fear from 9:30-10:30. There will also be a buffet lunch from 11:30-1:00 with a guest speaker and a behind the scenes tour of the new attractions at Water Works. For more info and the registration sheet, it can be found on the Coaster Zombies site http://www.coasterzombies.com/ It should be a good time!
  11. I am planning on going, but unfortunatly since my fiancee had to take extra time off from work because we moved the wedding up to this July insted of next year, she won't be able to get the time off to go up with me. Anywho, I was just curious to see if anyone else was planning on going and would be interested in meeting up for some good old riding at Kings Dominion!
  12. I'd ride it. It would be one of those "OMG I am gonna die today" moments. The last few rides that I went on the first time and felt like that were Volcano in 99, HyperSonic in 02 and Drop Zone the next year at Kings Dominion, as well as Top Thrill Dragster in 04. The sky coaster at Kennywood also had that effect since when you look down at the top, all you see is a 5-foot deep pool below you. I remember thinking that when I rode my first big coaster (Raptor) back in 96. Sorry about reliving my childhood and getting off topic. I think that like many other have said, this would be a ride that would scare not only the riders but also the people watching. I would still love to ride this thing.
  13. Cedar Point in 2004 and 2005 2004: Mantis, Iron Dragon and Peanuts Playground/Ocean Motion/Chaos 2005: Peanuts Playground/Ocean Motio/Chaos I applied for a leadership position, and I got a call from one of the Managers about it, but I decided not to go for a third season because there was too much going on for me at home. I sometimes wish I could go back agian, but there many reasons not to. Like when North Carolina wants me to pay them $250 income tax for money I did not make in their state. Oh well. For anyone thinking about doing it, it can be a great time or a bad time, it just depends on how you take it. I would not change anything about my two years there, especially since I met the girl I am about to marry in July there!
  14. They are definatly flying on construction! I am one of those who likes the SLCs (Maybe I have not been on enough to know better, but I still like the two I went on). I agree that this is a great add considering that Blackpool hasn't got anything in a while.
  15. What was the yellow track behind the Catapiller Ride that you said Jeff Johnson would count as a credit? It looked like it could have been another coaster or something.
  16. The new coke theory is rather interesting RoadTripper. I never would have thought about that (Then agian I never heard of New Coke until this thread).
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if you were right Derek. I didn't realize there were plans for the Southport land, I thought they just shut it down saying it was not profitable. Myrtle Beach would not surprise me in the least because they have already had some sketchy things happen with that whole developement plan.
  18. Avalanche from Amusements of America at the North Carolina State Fair (Man I am ready for the end of March and Carowinds!)
  19. I don't exaclty remember the taste of Crystal Pepsi, but I remember me and My sisters always got that when they were selling it. I always kind of hoped they would bring it back agian, but that is just me.
  20. It has a neat layout, it ought to be fun for the kids, not many family coasters intertwine with bigger rides like that.
  21. ^ Same kind of thing here at the ECU sports games. ECU is sponsored by Pepsi (You cannot find coke anywhere on campus). They used to have Papa John's Pizza, who sells coke at their store from what I am aware of. This year they started to sell Pizza Hut insted. -alpengeist04: There are times I could not agree with you more. I don't know what it is about the area, but most of the people are just always mean and rude (Maybe it has something to do with the fact that if you split the state to where Wake county was in on the west side of the line, and the east half became a state, it would be the poorest in the nation.) T There really is not much to do over on this side of the state either. That is one reason I am ready to graduate because my Fiancee is planning on going to Chapel Hill for her Graduate degree, and I think we are planning on living somewhere in Raleigh. I definatly think the people there are nicer and more relaxed. Here is a random fact for everyone. When Cedar Point added Coasters, the were originally planning on it being a McDonalds. The deal killer was the beverage association (Cedar Point with Pepsi, McDonald's with Coke).
  22. Wow, ummm........yeah At Cedar Point, we would have been done for just crossing the tracks, we had to wait until a train was there, and we also had to signal that we were crossing, we could not just go at random. I can only imagine how much trouble a host would have been if that happend at CP. But then agian, the stroller or baby would probably not have been in the station to begin with since if I remember correctly, the rules for rides specifically said they were not allowed in line or in the station.
  23. That sounds like a sweet trip if you ask me. I don't know how many people could afford to do that, but I would give it a try if I could.
  24. I have to admit I am not as familiar with the southern part of 77, I only know about it from Charlotte up, but yeah, would would definatly miss DC big time.
