  1. It's funny what a random thought on a thursday can start up..... I agree with the "I will drink the other kind if that is what they have." statment. I found it really funny when I worked at Chick-Fil-A, there was a person who asked for a Mountain Dew, and I told them we had Mello Yello, and they about crapped a brick because we didn't have mountain dew. Another thing abour Pepsi being from here in Eastern NC is that people always ask for pepsi even if they are getting a refill of coke. Man am I glad that I was from Seattle
  2. Going from DC if you wanna hit Kings Island first, you could always go down I-95 to Kings Dominion, then hop onto I-64 over thought WVa and stop at Camden like Barry said, then You can go on to Louisville to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. Go up I-71 to Kings Island. Another Idea is that if you really want to hit a bunch of parks, You can do a complete loop. If you do that I would suggest getting a MaxX Pass at either Kings Dominion or Dorney. They will both be cheaper than any of the three Ohio parks
  3. Fair enough. I personally am a Dr. Pepper fan, but you would be hard pressed to find that anywhere. Although I was happy to see the Dr. Pepper sculpture from Thorpe Park. Too bad it had to come tumbling down. So is Six Flags Over Georgia not a good part of going to Atlanta? Or is that a "Besides Six Flags" kind of thing?
  4. Where do you cross over from I-77 to 95? I would never think about doing it before D.C. cause D.C. can be a nightmare depending on the day and time that you get on the beltline. Once you get past there, 95 seems to be a lot better heading south.
  5. Thanks for the link. The artwork makes it look a lot more spacious there, but I like the compated area it will be in. You have taken good picture so far. Looking forward to your next update.
  6. I was about to ask about the operating season over in the UK since it seems like most parks there are already operating, versus the U.S. trend of seasonal parks operating Weekends from March, April or May until Memorial day, and then agian from labor day till september or october on the weekends again. I was curious for possibly taking a trip during a slower time of the year in the future, but if TRP is doing a trip in 2009, I may make that my graduation celebration from college!
  7. So Elissa, I guess you wouldn't be in just about any concession stand line at most places like the stadiums and entertainment centers here in Eastern North Carolina (Then agian, I dunno why many people would come over here anyway). Just about everyone (other than the chain resturants that sell coke like McDonalds) around here sells Pepsi since it was created in New Bern, NC.
  8. I have done both a freakout and Fireball. I have also been on Delirium and MaXair, but my favorite of this type of ride is Fandango at Knoebels.
  9. I think it is a great place to put it. I thought that Mind Eraser (Six Flags America) and Thunderhawk (Geauga Lake) had good foot choppers during the double in-line twist. Now it looks like Infusion will have multiple foot choppers thoughout the ride. Especially when it comes out of the third inversion (I don't know what Vekoma calls it) and turns towards Big Dipper. Where is the tunnel going to be placed on the ride?
  10. I dunno what it is about Thursdays, but I always notice some of the most random things on the fourth day of the work week. I would say that Most people know most of the major theme park chains connections with the two major soft drinks: Pepsi: Cedar Fair, Busch, Kennywood Coca-Cola: Six Flags, Universal, Disney But something else I have noticed it that everytime I go to a movie theatre, they have sold Coke products. I admit it is possible that I have been to a theatre that had pepsi that I do not remember, but I only remember there being Coke. Notice that the above major park chains with Coke Products are also the ones that have ties to movies at their parks (Rides/shows/shops/ect). The ones with Pepsi do not really have movie tie-ins for their rides or shows. I also recall that other smaller parks like Knoebels also have Pepsi. I started to think that maybe the movie industry has some sort of tie-in with Coca-Cola. Of course I am sure there may be some exceptions, or maybe I am just delusional. Anyone have any other thoughts? Edit: I just realized that the paramount parks were Coke, but now owned by Cedar Fair, but I wonder if that may still be a possible change
  11. It may be a super themed clone, but it looks like the added scenery could be a huge difference for that one. I would bet that most people would prefer Crystal Wings over some of the Superman clones, but I would not be able to say that I thought so for sure because I have only done the SFGAdv Superman
  12. Keep in mind X was always meant for 3 train operation, most likely they'll purchase 3 new trains which in theory would actually increase capacity (60 people on the ride at once vs. 56, or actually more like 28 since it seemed in the past they could only keep 1 of the problem plagued trains running a majority of the time). I say in theory because that would also require the attendents to hussle to avoid stacking instead of chatting on their cell phones. I never knew it was ment for three train, I always thought it was two. I suppose your theory could be true though too because if there are less seats to check, then that could be a little quicker too. I still think though that if they were to do two train op it would be better to stick with the regular length they have had. Not to mention that if Momentum is as big a factor, lighter trains with less cars would have much less momentum
  13. I wonder if lowering the number of cars to 5 would really be a good idea or not. If you take out the other two cars, that is 8 people less per cycle. Over the span of an hour that could be a hundred or two more than with 5 cars. I know that it doesn't have a good capacity now as it is, but it may be possible that with only 5 cars, the capacity could sit about where it is now, unless the ride attendents picked it up a step.
  14. I remember both times I went there on my second tour of duty with Cedar Point in 2005 (Saturday in mid-May and Friday late July) you could walk-on to any coaster except for X-Flight. I noticed the water park was packed when I went by there with my friend when we went in July. It is a nicely built water park. I also really like the atmosphere the ride side has, but I can notice the flaws too (broken boards on the station of double loop, hurricane hannah's dead area, ect.)
  15. I just notice that the topic I started about the re-naming of rides at the paramount parks was locked because administartors thought there was no purpose. Well, at the top of that topic I put the purpose of it which was: "This is just an open-ended thread for anyone to say what they would re-name any of the paramount themed rides. If you want, you can use the Cedar Fair re-names like they did with some of the Geauga Lake rides." I understand that there is a need to end useless topics, but I cannot help but be a little annoyed that it was killed for a reason that was different then what I started it for. I apologize if I did not make the purpose clear at the beginning, it was not to announce that anything was actually being changed name wise, just to see what other people would call them.
  16. I thought this would be interesting to see what others thought, but this is just an open-ended thread for anyone to say what they would re-name any of the paramount themed rides. If you want, you can use the Cedar Fair re-names like they did with some of the Geauga Lake rides. If it was up to me, I would take Top Gun in Carowinds, repaint the trains royal blue, and call it the Blue Angel after the fighter jets that do aireal shows around the country Another idea is if we were to go the Cedar Fair rename route, perhaps Vortex at Great America will be renamed Dominator. Other ideas?
  17. I know this would more than likley out of their price range, but a B&M invert (BTR size, or maybe even a clone) where a potion of it is over the lake. I think that would be sweet! Or maybe if it would be cheaper, they could do an Intamin like the Tornado in Finland
  18. WALLEY WORLD RULES!!!!!!!! I think it would be hilarious if someone actually made a Walley World
  19. So what do you not like about the area? I personally become less of a fan of the state every year when I do taxes because they always want something, and then the raise my tuition. Where are my tax dollars going? The roads aren't any better.
  20. I would bet that this ride could have some great airtime, depends on how the designed the layout to be.
  21. This is definatley good to hear that they want to make the improvements to the place. I dunno that I will make it there this year since I am pretty booked solid for my trips/summer, but I hope I can shoot over there next summer, or maybe find a free day to go there this year. I was confused on whether the new coaster is going to replace the old kiddie or if they will have both? Anyone know?
  22. What would you do with it? I would expand that little games area on the one side to make it kind of like a boardwalk, add a small ride or two near it, and on the park side you could put a stage for shows or concerts. Or maybe put a mid-sized coaster along side it.
  23. I wonder how the trains like those on Faulken would run? same t-bar but two bench instead of three
  24. That's good to know, I did not really care for the trick-track on Villain. you made a good point about the rock incident
  25. So I guess the video for Villain would be so you can laugh at you friend for being foolish enough to actually get on the ride? I havn't been on it since 2005, but it killed my legs because of the awful lapbars.
