i just want the guests to feel like the room is spinning or something. it will only be a short blast, maybe 5-10 seconds, just enough to make them think 'wtf?' so, its basically a very low pitch then?

Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
IceDragon replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
mmmm... best: Colosus at Thorpe Park: 4 interjoined inline twists connected to a bank turn into a small airtime hill and through another inline twist barely 7/8ft above the ground at 15mph worst: Mighty Mini Mega at southend: a massive, unnessecary brake run that takes 2 mins to get down :\ -

i was bought up the same. one of the first models of the Huss Enterprise came to England about 145/16years ago. its gone now, but i was riding it aged 2. it was my favourite ride. Then came the Inverted Seinging ship, aged 6. i wouldnt touch rides like that unless i held onto someones hand, lol. my sister is very scared of big things. she went on her first major rollercoaster, Vampire at chessington, about 3/4 months ago. i was telling her that when i first went on it, i absolutely loved it. she calmed down when the queue-line videos came on. shes contemplating doing an S&S Screaming Swing next year (she'll be 9 in August), but im not sure if she'll stick it or not. in June/July, we went to Alton Towers. Once again, a very nice family place to go. my parents and brother and i wanted to go on Rita, so she had to queue up with us. even though she was only queueing, she was shaking really badly. by the time we had gotten off the ride, she had decided to do it herself, even though she's not tall enough, so i promised her that we'd come back to Alton Towers just so she could do Rita. we also got her queung for Spinball Whizzer. this was going to be her first major spinning ride (we had done the spinning wild mouses that go around travelling fairs before), but the ride is really quite tall. we got her to queue up, she sat down on the seat, saw the other trains going really fast over the vertical u turn and decided not to do it. she was so close as well talk about changing your mind so quickly! anywho, get kids used to it first, then they'll love it. let them cry in the queue, if they dont want to ride it by the station, just take them off.

Bus Wars: Attack of the balloon. so, yesterday was my birthday (now 17!!! yay!!! word of warning: if you se me behind the steering wheel, turn around and head back the way you came! lol), so a couple of friends bought in a few balloons. we had loads of fun blowing them up and making rude noises, but then we made it go to a pitch that we had never heard before. not only was it higher, it was louder as well! So, we had even more fun annoying the heck outta people with the high pitched balloon, when the bus went from around 30mph to 0mph within 5 seconds, throwing all of us into the seats infront due to not having seat belts on. the bus driver came back to where we were and asked who had the balloons. my one was deflated, but my friend had his fully inflated and had it hidden under my chair, still holing it closed. As the bus driver went back to the front, he let out a little bit of air, producing the high pitched squeak. the sound was magnified due to the small space and the quietness of the bus (everyone is afraid of the busdiver). he stops in his tracks, stands still for a minute, slowly turns 180 degrees on the spot. his face was screwed up in anger, you could see smoke pouring from his ears (like ion the cartoons). he slowly, through gritted teeth asked (taking a breath after every word): 'wheres... that... balloon...'. no one replied, so he let out another squeak, making the bus driver look at me. my only response was: 'geee whizz... sorry guys, it must have been the curry last night!'. he got so angry, he nearly kicked me off the bus! at the time it was sooo effing scary, it was worse than a 400ft freefall tower!

i have the Atari K1000. best £50 of my life! fills up my house within 5 minutes, and thats impressive! the only downfall: we have hardly anyone do trick-or-trating around here, but its funny to try and make them jump in any way possible. this year, im gonna freeze my a$$ off sitting outside in a halloween costume with a sign saying 'Free Sweets!' then an arrow underneath, pointing at a bowl thats placed infront of a bush, where i will be hiding. as soon as they get anywhere close, i jump out at them, then invite them back for some sweets. its quite a laugh. even some of the adults try to get it as well!

yeah, thats not the best of ideas, lol. keep it in a cupboard or something at room temp.
-
ahhhhh... a 200ft freefall tower in Spain convinced me enough to take my shoes off. lol, your feet get really cold really quickly at an altitude of 200ft at 2am

do you need to fill in any forms or the like?

How do you evacuate a drop tower?
IceDragon replied to jmccalip's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thorpe Park have a contract with a local crane hire company to supply a 200+ foot cherry picker for doing an evac if Stealth ever stalled. Can't remember what the exact response time was but it was something like 90 minutes. thats not too bad! but (this is probably me watching too many films, as usual) if you were to get stuck, couldnt you wobble the train backwards and forewars to get the momentum? -
wooden frame with black plastic bags pegged together is what were doing. as long as nobody leans on it, it can be very effective. pushing a hand against it will create a ghostly effect. another little push will make the peg pop off and the hand escape through the bags, scaring anyone there also, ripped binbags are great too, string them up and you can hide someone behind it if you have one entrance, make them go in one direction,m circle round and then out the same way. fog machines are good, if you cant get one of them, go looking for canned smoke, that way you can spray the rom before anyone goes in. try and get a few amps (if youre allowed). play pre-recorded demonic sounding messages and music over them. some will actually attract people email me (Apocalyptic_Demise@hotmail.com) for some good suspense music from films, etc. what i have so far: 1) a hut and forest 2) smoke machine 3) 400watt amp with 2x200watt speakers 4) cd player 5) microphone 6) strobe 7) disco lights 8) 5/6 actors 9) hanging objects 10) many hiding places 11) a place where the guide leaves, and the bushes next to the victims starts to shake via stirng and fishing wire. (once again, actor) anything else i may need? what else can i do? also, quick question: does anyone charge people? if so, how much?

this happened to me, not there though. if you have ridden Detonator (TP),then you know you get a 25/30mph shunt downwards. when we went on it, we heard a massive 'klunk' that sounded like something went wrong, the Ride Ateendant screamed down the mic saying 'youre gonna die!!!!' (i think it was because it was halloween not sure though) then we heard the air being let out manually below, started panicking and were then, without warning, bossted down around 40/45mph (they had a speed camera or something pointing at the top, and it caught us doing 45mph). we had done the ride half an hour before hand, with the after effects still occurring, but this was beyond scary. we were told at the bottom that if it were going any faster, we would've died due to the brakes not being to secure, which was what the kerchunk was. the Ride Attendant had panicked when the brakes made that noise, screamed into the mic for help, but he/she didnt hit the emergency stop button, which would've lowered us down at about 10mph. scary

in England, a bit of rain will close violent coasters (ie Crokscrew, Rita, Oblivion at Alton Towers) purely because they go too fast and rain is painful at speeds. Thorpe Park dont close their Rollercoasters unless there's a thunderstorm

now thats a good kiddie ride. heres another: its called Clone Zone, and its a rather lonely kiddie ride. nothing else except a miniature park, farm and a bumper cars thing that we stayed on for 30mins straight. its more of a walk through thing with a story line. deffinately worth a ride if the queue is free question: why dont my img tags work
-
hmmmm... tricky 1) inverted vertical loop, so much fun; slowly rise, quick whip over the peak then an (what seems to be) slow decent before speeding up to complete the ride. 2) a line of inline twists (Colossus' inversions 6-9) 3) the last inversion of Colossus, barely 4ft off the ground. it always feels like your gonna hit the floor, a great scare. 4) an inverted corkscrew, those things make my stomach go

hmmmmm... funny stories... on the way to school, we sometimes get a double decker bus. these buses are basically metal tins on wheels, the Skoda of public transport, if you will. anyway, me and my 2 female friends (NOT girlfriends), were sitting on the top deck. the bus was moving and there was nobody up there with us, so we started swinging from the bars, going over potholes that are over emphasized on the top. so we were swinging backwards and forewards, when we hit a pothole. my friend (who was swinging at the time) let go, dropped about 3/4 ft and landed on the floor between 2 chairs. it took both of us at least 5 mins to pull her free from the space between the benches. another story (once again on the Skoda Bus), we were going too fast down this hill with loads of trees that were over hanging the road. we hit 45mph in the bus when we hit the branch of a tree. it broke off, went through the window (it has a flap you raise to open, and fortunately, it went through that) and all the leaves came in through the window. we heard the window break, saw the branch fall, which scared us really badly, then we nearly wet ourselves with laughter as all the leaves came in through the window. also, some of the yr 11's (dont know how to convert it into grades) set off fireworks from the top of the Skoda Bus. one of the rockets went straight up and came straight back down onto the bus. it fell into the road and exploded, but it was scary as hell i'll try and remember more, but they are the most memorable at the moment some quick stories: also, while at Alton Towers, some girl mistook me for Matt Lucas from Little Britain and asked me which paint i liked for my room, so i preceeded in giving her my crap (ask if you catch me on a trip) impression. got married (fake) on a rollercoaster, we said our vows and got a divorce in the last brake run we got into a fight with someone at school (see any patterns coming out?) who was constantly bugging us, we told him to get lost, but in harsher terms. After another 5mins, my friend picks up a rock that barely fitted n his hands and threw it at the guy. it came into full contact with his leg and he fell over flat on his face. It may sound harsh, but the reality is, it barely hit him. once again, fight at school, someone started calling us offensive names and asked if we wanted to fight, so we said yes, attacked him, one at a time. no matter how many times he fell, we always let him get on his feet. all his friends were gathered in a ring so nobody could escape, all wanting their friend to win, but everytime we tripped him over, he tried making a dash, but his friends pushed him back in to the ring, yelling at him to hit us. a teacher came over and asked us if we were ok, he then proceeded in telling the other person off, even though he was the one who was getting hurt. he never bothered us after that. he used to send his friends around first before he came, just to make sure. i did feel a bit of remorse, but he really did deserve it.
