I'm heading to Kings Dominion & Busch Gardens this weekend, I've got my BG tix already but wanted to know if getting Kings Dominion tickets online was the best value or if there was a place on the way down 95 South that maybe sold discounted tix at a better price. Any advice would be much appriciated. Thanks.

Photo TR: Howl-o-Scream Saturday Night at BGE

Very excited, going this weekend -
Assuming you're not interested in Disney, staying at Universal would be a good choice for you. Besides Universal Studios & IOA, Seaworld is your only other park w/ big rides in the International Drive area. I would highly recommend a trip to Seaworld especially since they'll be debuting "Manta" next year & already have a good B&M floorless "Kraken". You may want to consider a drive to Busch Gardens in Tampa as they have a great selection of coasters. You could easily do both Universal parks in one day if you get their version of the flashpass (can't remember the name), which allows you 1 ride on each major attraction & you can get one covering both parks. Then you can get a 2-day Seaworld/Busch Gardens pass as Busch owns Seaworld and save some $$. Hope you have a great trip!

Sounds like a great trip, have you been to Six Flags Great Adventure yet? If not this a park you may want to work into your plans as it has a great selection of coasters including a favorite of mine "El Toro"...an Intamin woodie. But as far as a hotel goes for the 1st night there's a nice Four Points Sheraton in Plainview, Long Island NY that's about 15-20 min from Rye Playland. Have a great trip!

This is very exciting! I used to go up to Spooky World's old location back in the 90's outside of Worcester. I heard a few years back they auctioned off alot of the "old" Spooky World's memorabilia...glad to see them back, and to top it off at a good park! It was like when the Haunted Graveyard moved form Lyman Orchards in CT to Lake Compounce, always more exciting at a park.

A GPS would be key, that sounds like a smart plan. Thanks for all of the advice, looks like mid-late September will be a good time.
-
Well, since Ring Racer at Nurburgring doesn't open until June...mid-late Sept seems like an ideal time. The only concern I'd have is will parks be open Fridays or Mondays that late in the season. If they weren't maybe late Aug would be better. Too bad Heide is so far away. Does anyone know how the driving is there...are directions pretty simple to follow going to parks?
-
Thanks, your right Frankfurt seems like it may be a much more central location. I didn't realize Nurburgring was so close either, I should be able to do that quick since it'll be the only credit there. Another question I have is what the best time of the year to go would be, I'm thinking spring or early fall.
-
Excellent, thank you. I would say Dusseldorf for an airport unless there is one that's more convenient. This is a first for me so planning is key. Is staying by the airport better? Thanks for your help Elissa, it's much appriciated

I'm looking to plan a 4 day/3 night trip to Germany next year primarily to go to Holiday Park. I'm not sure on where to stay or if i could squeeze in perhaps another park or 2. Being my first trip over to Germany I aslo don't know if I should rent a car or if there is transportation from nearby hotels. Any help or advice would be appriciated. Thanks.

SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread

Looks like it'll be exciting & very well themed. With Universal's new edition as well '09 seems like the year to hit up Orlando. I certainly plan to! -

Looks awesome, can't wait to ride! -
That's a very good point, maybe they won't build it next year. The shell of the building is constructed where the stunt show used to be down by SROS. There's hard hat signs posted on the fence surrounding the area but no sign of track anywhere. Maybe the building will be used for something else. Given what we've got, who knows what the future will hold. I withdraw the comment of looking forward to riding it next year
-
That makes sense, I went to SFNE on Sat for their opening day & all that was there was the shell of the building. No track or activity inside & out. Given the progress I've seen of the other 2 coasters it seemed strange that this one was so far behind. Well, that's alright we'll have it to look forward to next year. I definately plan to ride the one at SFGA this summer, so that works.

Great pics Derek! Thanks for the TR, I can't wait to go to Hershey this summer & ride it. Looks like it's gonna be a sick coaster! -
1. What do you find most useful about the front page? You always seem to pick the best pictures associated to the updates, this makes you very excited to see the update/TR 2. What do you find least useful about the front page? The ability to search within the site & not thru Google, not that Google isn't a great serch engine...it's just being directed to a page on the site with search results may be better. 3. Is anything on the front page confusing? No, actually everything is very explanitory. 4. How far do you scroll down the front page looking for updates? All the way, then sometimes to old updates or the "What's New" page when I want to find older pictures from past TR. 5. How often do you look at the front page? Always 6. How often do you click on the "whatsnew" link? I click on it a lot, I'm familiar w/ it as that used to be the way to obtain several new updates & it's the way now I know how to scroll thru past updates/TR. 7. What would you like to see added to the front page to make your visits to TPR better? I like it the way it is, I check throughout my day at work for new updates & I like how everything is right there. 8. Anything else you would like to mention? Like any thing else you would like to see us add/change/leave alone/etc? I say leave it, I always want to see more TR but I understand they are a lot of work to post sometimes, especially when they are from the group trips. All in all, this is an excellent web site. Thanks guys!

I am extremely excited to ride this! Only 2 months away, I believe the opening date is 5/24. I plan to go in the beginning of June. I have yet to experience anything past 90 degrees...I will actually ride this before any euro-fighters. Very Cool! -

Thorpe Park Discussion Thread
DaveH80 replied to Rooey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This really sounds great, it appears that It'll be well themed and also with 4 inversions it may be more like Typhoon than most that are around now. It honestly makes we want to visit Thorpe Park even more now -
Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
DaveH80 replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, it's one of those situations where you have 2 ways to look at it...one being that a larger corporation has aquired small privately owned historic parks that are now at risk of being altered from their nostalgic state. Kennywood has so many gems and it would be a great shame to lose any of them, as do all of the other parks...the very first woodie I ever rode was the Wildcat at Lake Compounce. But on the other hand the best thing to do is look forward with a positive outlook that hopefully nothing classic is removed and perhaps some exciting new coasters are added. Here's hoping for the best -

Clementon Jack Rabbit GONE
DaveH80 replied to PCman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well that is assuring at least, it'd be a real shame to lose a park. Better opperations on J2 is good and who knows...a new coaster some day would be GREAT! The real tragedy is the loss of Jack Rabbit. Hopefully the future for Clementon is promising -
Clementon Jack Rabbit GONE
DaveH80 replied to PCman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So what's next, are they closing the entire park now? J2 is still a relatively new coaster, it would be such a shame to tear that down as well. But how unfortunate to see such a historic coaster like Jack Rabbit removed.
