  1. My Stukenbrock coverage is online : www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=55537&start=100
  2. Yeah, it's great to have a park all to yourselves. The Nightmare on Elmstreet soundtrack should work for every Safari park IMO.
  3. Waterride drop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmpDqLYQQvY
  4. Day 4 of our trip, the day we would hit 4 parks. First park of the day : Zoo Safari & Hollywoodpark Stukenbrock. A park I had never heard of before till I found the park on internet as a park with coasters, on our route and open the day we would pass by, so the park was included in the itinerary immediately. After a fast ride, we arrived at Stukenbrock at opening time. Purchase of your tickets is done as you see on this picture. The park existed 40 years in 2009. They are so happy about that, that they are still celebrating this in 2010. One more thing : if you ever go to a safaripark, take the Nightmare on Elmstreet sountrack with you. This music turned out to be the most perfect on-board-audio ever for the Safari part. The safaripart is much smaller than the one at Serengeti. We raced through the safaripark so that we could explore the attractionpart. Weird park entrance strollers Store Kiddie ride Snake slide First ride of the day. Small drop tower. But still the ride was quite special. We got stuck for 5 minutes at the top. First moment I thought : dammit, in stead of 4 parks, we will be stuck on this the whole day. But soon I started to take some overview pictures. The drop was very sudden after 5 minutes. The waterride we saw from droptower, was still closed. The boats didn't look too appealing. Teacups Waterplayground for kids I think this is a great place for families with kids during summer. Themed trash can Slide Boatride Oil Pump. I love this ride name. Another kiddie ride Dumbo Love the ride-op's building. First credit Yet another double-8 coaster Thanks to my excellent connections to all german parks, we got of course ERT on this coaster. Wwwwwhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Not a head chopper, but definitely an arm chopper. Hans got stuck in the ride exit Yeah, really like this. Parkmap I believe the 'Hollywood' part in the parkname refers to these drawings. Which are on the outside of this building. Boatride They should use this at the park entrance I think. 2nd credit. Again ERT of course. Ponderosa About the ERT, that was just a joke of course. It felt like ERT though because we were most of the time the only persons at the park. And still, at every ride there was a ride op. Never saw this before at other parks At the other side of the park, you're in the safari part again. Guess what this is in high season !! Another ride It's the Black Fly Crocodileride The buildings are themed to the tiger colour I believe. Wanna play ? Michael wanted to Michael didn't end first. Oil pump in operation. Radiohead found inspiration at this park. The wateride had opened in the meanwhile It has the slowest lifthill ever. After gotten linejumped by a bunch of russians who arrived at the park, it was time for our team to ride. Apart from having the slowest lifthills ever, it also has the craziest drop on a waterride I've ever seen. Linejumping russians loved it. And our team loved it too but you will see that in the video on the next page. DON'T MISS IT !!!!!!!!!
  5. Killing moon - Echo & the Bunnymen
  6. Great update Hans. The one in Fort Fun was 10 times better, but still, I'm glad we stopped there to ride it. I really was surprised to find a ride like that in the Ruhr area.
  7. Before proceding to the next park report, I have a report for you of the Hotel Port Royal, which is the Heide Park hotel. It was my first stay at this hotel. View from our room. Themed toilet 1 strange thing : if you want to open the window completely, you need a special key. You can get this key at the reception but you have to pay a deposit or rental fee (not sure anymore what it was) of 10 euro. Backside of the hotel Lobby theming I love themepark hotels Elevator theming Boobs. Janet Jackson Show stage Hotel bar We already had a few before dinner. Dinner time. Excellent buffet at a cheap rate : euro 25 pp. Included in the rate are all kind of soda's, wine and ..... BEER !!! After dinner we headed back to the bar and showtime. More boobs Recycling .... My place that evening Also Hans' place. "Michael, are you a nice belgian ?" They both liked it ... OMG .... After a short night, one last look at Colossos and time to hit 4 parks in 1 day.
  8. The new ride will be a heavily themed indoor Gerstlauer coaster Source : www.parkworld.be/seizoen2011/indoor-achtbaan-voor-movieparkgermany Translation: ADMIN EDIT: I went ahead and added a translation of the linked release.
  9. Nowhere ... yet. But if you look at the other Plopsaparks, as good as every ride is named after a Plopsa character or Plopsa tv series. EGF is a brilliant coastername and hopefully Plopsa keeps it like that by giving it one or the other twist and connect it to one of their character/series, but I wouldn't bet my money on that.
  10. ^Maybe not Plopsa Germany, but Majaland or Wickiepark It was on the news here this evening. One of the Studio100 owners confirmed that they are still looking for other (smaller) parks in Germany too and they want to open some 3 parks in Germany in the next few years (not sure whether that is including HP). Total investment : about 100 million Euro (so that must be including the purchase of HP and the retheming investment IMO). Studio100 hopes to attract some 2.5 million visitors to their german parks in a few years. This must have been the very first time that I saw EGF on belgian tv BTW Studio 100 is going to retheme HP to their popular german characters, so I wouldn't expect 1 big new ride in the next years, but a lot of the money will go into retheming of the rides at HP. Probably several smaller new rides too, but I wouldn't set my hope on a B&M or another major Intamin or something like that. Studio 100 website (in English)
  11. Here an off- and onride of Aquasafari. (Sorry, only on youtube. I seem to have problems uploading to Coastertube) Offride :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96gGG8HadWU Onride : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNGA2cKVDKA
  12. Very exciting. Can't wait to find out more details.
  13. Studio 100 made a good decision I believe. Holidaypark is a nice park and it will be quite easy to reform it into a Plopsapark. There were rumours for a while already that they intended to penetrate into the german themepark market by opening 1 or even 2 new parks. Starting parks from zero is much more complicated than what they do now. Hopefully they will have Mega Mindy in the Germany as from next season (no idea whether she is a superstar in Germany yet) And, my Plopsa funcard is still valid till June 2011 so I will get in for free till then )
  14. Part II of Serengeti Park report. Let's start with the star attraction of Serengeti : Aquasafari The only ride in the park with a line during our visit. Earprotection available for the kids. Well, I could have used one too, because the ride is VERY loud. The ride op. Starting with a calm part. But after the calm start, the wild part starts. Me and the ride op To the honest, although I understand most german, I didn't really have a clue about the storyline of the ride. So I can't tell you what this theming was for. But then hell breaks loose. Still on Aquasafari, but as said, didn't understand the storyline, so don't know this monkey was doing there. Another star attraction Unfortunately, the ride op didn't feel like driving us around. He told us there were at least 10 persons needed for him to drive out. The park being completely dead, this ride being in a deserted corner of the park, it would never happen to find enough other persons to ride with us. The ride op seemed happy we turned around and started talking with a colleague while having a smoke. I found a few pics on their website. The ride really looks like fun. Note to the Serengeti Park management : we really appreciated that all rides where in operation although the park was really dead during our visit. But one of your drivers of Dschungel Safari is rather relaxing than working. The way he got rid of us, didn't fit in your park. We were at your park October 7, at the ride 430pm. You can look it up which ride op it was. Teacups Well themed slides Baby park I love the idea of having something like this for small kids. Only a small fee of 20 eurocents per ride. Wildlife restroom Second coaster of the park. Another double-8 OMG, we're off track. Camp out at the park. Logflume without a waiting row. Wonder how they manage the crowd on busy days at this ride. We jumped in. SITZEN BLEIBEN, bitte.... Second lifthill And work in progress for their 2011 ride. Thanks for reading this update.
  15. I thought Santa Cruz BB was a very nice place too. And in the south, you can combine Seaworld and Belmont in 1 day.
  16. Great update Hans. The Nightmare on Elmstreet music while entering the safaripark was really awesome I have pictures and even a video of the raftride, but I'm a few reports behind now. Will post them asap.
  17. Because Colossos wasn't operating, we decided to leave Heide Park by 2 pm, and we drove to Serengeti, the park we didn't have time for on day 1. Serengeti is only approx 30 kms from Heidepark so shortly after leaving Heide, we arrived at Serengeti. I took a lot of pictures at the this park so it will be a 2 parts report. Finally First part of Serengeti is a safari with your own car. You could take the bus too, but there was a charge up for that, and we only had limited time to discover the complete park, so we raced through the safari part. In fact the safari was the best one I have ever done. The safari was also very very long Lots of animals and with EB in the car, we actually had live on board audio, with all we needed to know about the animals. I had the great idea to race through that water on the road .... but that one animal didn't want to move. Hi girls Walibi Belgium Droptower EB sits the all-weather seat. Serengeti is a very green park. Swamp duckies Flume ride Batride People mover Although Serengeti is divided in different parts, the actual parts weren't really clear to me. Here we were heading to Freizeitland and Affenland Ghetto arcade. But I love places like this Swamp bridge Credit time Die ! Can't believe they actually want to kill this mousie. The ride itself was awesome. Some hops at crazy speed. 2 of us Kiddie rides Biker Hans There are actually quite some rides at Serengeti. And the owners are doing their best to safari-theme the rides There weren't too many other visitors in the park The insect animatronics were totally awesome. Very well done. Almost the real stuff. Park overview Random theming. This was more or less the only attraction with a ridesign Hey, other people !! More rides Bumpercars Rammen verboten : so these are just cars, no bumpercars Showtime. High adventure Oldtimers More kiddie rides End of part I. Much more to come in part II
  18. Great update Hans. Acutally I'm very happy we made it to Serengeti. Thank you Colossos
  19. Before I watched the updates, I actually looked on the Usa map WTH Wisconsin is
  20. Great report Hans. My coverage of the same day/park : www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=55537&start=90
  21. After an awesome night at Hamburg, where we met up with some colleagues from work, drank a few beers at a very trendy place, had an excellent dinner at a Brauhouse, drank another few beesr in an Irish pub, saw the Hamburg city hall, found the Herbstrasse, drank a few other beers at a pub near the Herbstrasse, attended an amazing beat-party on the Reperbahn with all kind of beat music of the sixties, people dressed like the sixties, there even was a guy having Beatles-hair and we drank a lot of beers again ..... we drove in the morning to Hotel Port Royal @Heidepark where we would stay for the night after having visited Heidepark. So, after checking in, we were at Heidepark well before 10 am Let's start with the B&M construction site It's really huge A lot of pieces waiting. My god .... we are real nerds. Because you'll admit, there is in fact nothing to see on this pic excpet for a buldozer paving the place for a B&M. And still I'm posting the pic Divemachine station ?? The gyro drop is still awesome. Baby drop right next to the real stuff. Amazing bob. Go Norway Go Norway ... Go Germany Go Germany ... Time for some Vekoma fun Well, this is probably one of the smoothest ones. All Vekoma Great job on the extreme make over of the flatride section. This could have been the best coaster on the trip. By far the best coaster.... if it would have run !! But it was closed. I wanted to ride it at least 10 times that day ( On a positive note : this allowed us to visit the park we skipped 2 days earlier in the afternoon. More about that later. Dessert race Heidepark is beautiful No idea how something like this is called. Dessert race station It's very obvious : EB is our leader. Lego shop. We all love Lego. Especially since we know Renata, the german lady giving the backstage tours at Legoland California. New credit for me. We had a list of what Larry was missing for the index. Here you go Larry Logflume nr 1 Halloween island Splash battle Michael is waiting for riders She like Michael MILF Logflume 2 With the insane drop. Next up : Serengeti park.
  22. Congrats Greg !! Great job !! I did a 1/2 marathon training Saturday and it was by far the most relaxing and easiest 1/2 marathon I ran so far. I went absolutely great and my time was approx 1h50m. April 17, 2011 I will be running my first marathon (Antwerp). Next weeks I have a few days off from work so maybe I'll find the time then to train and run a marathon distance. I'm sure I can do it, it's only a matter of finding the 3-4 hours to run it
