Jarmor's first Nolimits Challange...
jarmor replied to jarmor's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Calling all expert designers...calling all expert designers!! Six Flags over No Where has contacted me with a crisis! After the dark knight spoiled they has nother coaster to hit a road block. This yet unnamed coaster was in the design and construction phases when, for some unforseen reason, the designer kicked the bucket! But dont worry his toes are ok ! Anyway, the problem is they are now stuck with a half design and constructed ride that needs to be complete and here is where you, the viewing audience, comes in to play. Why cant they just get the plans and finish theirselfs you say...well the designer was soo careful with the plans he hid them from anyone and now the second half cannot be found in order to complete the coaster. Your mission, if you choose to accept, is to complete the coaster. Simple enough right? But here are the restrictions... Nothing can go outside of the marked off area, NOTHING! (this is 2.5 acre site it has plenty of room lol) You cannot move any parts of the constructed ride, so basically you have to work around the current track and supports. You cannot change any of the current settings of the lift and brakes, you can however change the dispatch times in the station to prevent stacking No launches or chain lift during the ride. The construction grounds cannot be dug into or raised since all of the electrical wiring has been completed. The color of the coaster has to remaim the same colors it is as well as the trains. The track must be able to support 3 train operation with minimal stacking. Since this is merely the design phase no 3D's! We have a seperate department responsible for that . I know shocking isnt it lol! Those are the general restrictions. Any other questions that arise we will deal them as they come. To make it more interesting the Design challange will remain anymous! What I mean by that is the participants cannot post screenshots or progress reports themselves or anything about their design for that matter. The participants will even come up with a name of their "firm" so when the screenshots are posted it will be under that name. This is a top secret coaster that will blow anything cedar fair had dreamed up out of the water ! So what will happen is on certain days the screen shots will be posted by me, the creative designer for Six Flags over No Where as well as the final coaster designs so we can chose based off the designs only! So here is the schedule... May 7th deadline to accept the challange and progress reports and screen shots are due by midnight in order to be posted the next day. May 14th Progress reports and screen shots are due by midnight in order to be posted the next day May 21st Design due by midnight WITH a press release about the coaster as well as screen shots. **videos are optional by you since I will be posting a pov of all coaster submitted anyway but if you want you can create your own special video!** Now keep in mind the progress reports and pictures dont have be where you are at on that day. For instance you could have very well completed the coaster by the 9th but as you are constructing you can take pictures of it taking form and then submit them even though you are already finish! Well enough chatter here are some screen shots and the coaster to download. If you want to be part of the challange PM me please dont say it in the thread so I can give you info on how to get the track and screenshots and progress reports to me! finish.nltrack Here is the challange... -

Carowinds Discussion Thread
jarmor replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Carowinds is not owned by Six Flags and I don't think I have ever seen a parking lot coaster at a Cedar Fair park. I would rather them take the time to expand the park into the south parking lot, but take the time to tear out the pavement and make it look as nice as the rest of the park. But there is a new hole in the second lift of Carolina Goldrusher, so maybe hopeful a new (not used) coaster will start out in that area for 2009. And I don't think it has to be a Intamin or B&M Hyper, but something different. Maybe something a little longer than the coasters we have though. Have you seen dominator lately...it looks like a parking lot coaster to me...hopefully it wont end up being that! -
Jarmor's first Nolimits Challange...
jarmor replied to jarmor's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I love sweeney todd lol. But yeah...the challange is sure to be a fun one. Im cleaning up the "template" right now and trying to get together some feasible rules and sort things out. But one thing for sure is NOTHING can go outside the template lol! Not even 3D's! -

I guess I cannot open track packs -
Ya know, I see alot of coaster "contest" around here and decided to change it up a little and come up w/ some "challanges" of my own. My first challange is moderately simple but it will be loads of fun seeing everyones design based off the criteria. No info is ready just as of yet, waiting for may first to debut the rules and such but trust me, it is worth the wait. But in the meantime here is a teaser video of what is to come. UPDATE BELOW!!! challange_01.mpg Let the speculation and discussion start! challange_01.zip

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Could it be that they are planning on doing a "color fade" effect from the yellow to the orange in that white section?? It would make sense to me. -

one more thing I forgot to mention is that it looks like Led Z will be selling on ride videos because there seems to be mounts for them on the backseat of the trains! -

I loved the "experience" It is a very fun ride and has a killer first drop! The ride, of course, is very smooth and the forces are moderate. It is def re-rideable and a memorable experience especially having that drop. As a matter of fact my friend was saying instead of the zero-g roll they should have had an airtime hill! All the info you need about that carnie coaster is right HERE (CLICK ME) and also I want to say thanks to hardrockparkblog.com for all the extra information. -
Nolimits Inversion Contest
jarmor replied to JJboy100's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Looking at contest lately I have one question... Why create a template and then go back and say stuff can be put outside of it! I think the point of a template is so that if a park had that size parcel of land EVERYTHING pertaining to that new coaster has to fit in the alloted space! -

I havent checked out the new one but I wanted to say this to you. Whenever you post a coaster for the public to ride and presumingly rate you occasionally get info that you dont like. Im not saying to coaster has to be my way I was just pointing out what "I" felt was flawed. Indeed those coasters have trims and to this day I dont understand why lol. I mean why design a coaster that needs to be slowed down mid course! Anyway back to your coaster. I know it can be frustrating but I didnt always made good coasters. There was times I wanted to delete nolimits all together but what I did was physically studied different coasters to see how they are designed and how they ride and I start applying that to my coasters! -

You couldnt have picked a better name for this coaster! lol. just kidding, however this coaster needs some work. The inversion needs to be murdered...to be quite frank. The trim...why are there trims on this coaster??? I can see trims at the end of the coaster to slow it down some before hitting the brake run but trims on the top of a hill in the beginning? The run into the MCBR would have made me soo mad if it were a real coaster. The purpose of a MCBR is to give the train some clearence so another can depart. Hitting the MCBR at 40 mph isnt, well, realistic. Also I suggest that all brake runs be atleast 1.5 times the lenth of the trains at a minimum. I would go into more details but im tired. Thanks for posting! -

^ I forgot about the wizard! Long as they focus games to be in one area im fine. It was nice to walk around and not be hassled to play a game! lol Oh yeah I was browsing the forums and found this... Just to let you guys know they were NOT operating when I rode it twice! I guess it's there for safety on a roll back -
Actually, I think you'd have to be living under a rock (or maybe in another country) to have not heard about that. Non sports fans suck! Dude, sometimes I really wonder......are you simply here to try and piss off as many people as possible? Believe it or not, some people actually may not have heard that story. I know....crazy concept, but true. A helpful link is posted, and you get your panties in a wad and insult non-sports fans? C'mon. On topic, thanks to the locals for the insight on the matter. I have never heard of that story and still dont know what is going on? But I do know I dont suck!

TPR's first ever Hard Rock Park PhotoTR

When I first saw it I was like and thought a carnival just left but when I saw people walking from inside the park to that area I went back and realize it opens up to the area where the kids rides are. I started thinking it was something for an employee event. Then I confirmed it with an employee that it was indeed a part of the park. I really dont think they will enclose it. I honestly dont think it's gonna stick around. I still think that is a perfect area for a water ride or a kids based show. People were complaining that it wasnt anything for kids to do at the park all day. The only things the park have are playground style attractions scattered around for kids. I would have expected something a little more than themed around music than what they will have. Like a music themed dumbo style attraction or a kids dark ride. Hopefully the future see's that! I notice that when they were constructing. Im guessing the track will move foward and a small LIM will propell the ride down the drop. But we would probably never see that happen and they will have to remove this premature concept in favor of a elevator lift lol lol (just kidding)
