  1. A roller coaster is a roller coaster regardless of how good or bad we think it is.
  2. The public gets exposure to sports every hour of every day of every year. A car is a tangible thing that you can show off. You can play a video game with your friends. You can go running or exercising together. All of these are hobbies that have at least some ability to give you instant gratification. Coaster-riding is very niche - you often have to drive out of your way to go somewhere, and then do a lot of walking, to ride a coaster, which is inconvenient for people who aren't as big of coaster fans. By contrast, you can watch a sport without being totally interested in it (like myself with American Football), yet be able to engage with the people that are. And, in the span of a single American Football game, you may only get to experience a coaster four times, with the rest of the time spent trudging around or standing in a queue staring awkwardly at each other.
  3. Based on photos it seems as though Tennessee Tornado's highest point is at the top of the lift (that one's obvious), and the lowest point is between the second vertical loop and the sidewinder. I'd bet the "162 feet" is the total height differential.
  4. I had a bad time on Mystery Mine riding in an outer seat through the wonky outdoor section. The ending bit with the twisty drop and the hang time is really fun though.
  5. I would like to personally thank the wonderful person who consolidated these threads.
  6. I would at least take some time to just take it all in. If you're going for two full days, I would definitely spend an hour or two on the first day just making a walking loop around the park without riding anything.
  7. You say that sarcastically, but don't be surprised if that's what actually starts happening in a few years.
  8. The concept is not stupid, but the implementation sure is.
  9. Sidenote: Their marketing team was successful. I personally didn't ride it at the show but I know people who did, and they enjoyed it very much. It's not as restrictive as, say, B&M's stand-up coasters because there's no bicycle seat. The lower door, in a similar manner to the old Arrow stand-up conversions, keeps riders from bending their knees.
  10. I'm sorry, but I think that mentality is just silly! There's nothing to be enthusiastic about in the United States? How about all the parks, coasters, and rides that, oh, I don't know, already exist? If your life as a coaster enthusiast is driven strictly by Rocky Mountain's installations, then I feel sorry for you. I wish that I could financially afford to be able to say, "maybe I'll take off from being a coaster enthusiast this year because there isn't anything new and exciting" - I'm happy getting to a single park at all in a year nowadays, even if it is Knoebels again. Knoebels is literally the only park I was able to make it to in 2016 (unless you count Disney Springs), and only because I was able to get on the last plane home when the hurricane ripped through southeast Georgia back in October. I wish that I could go ride all the Rocky Mountain Construction coasters, I wish I could go to all the Disney parks, I wish I could go on a Scandi Tour, but right now, I can't. So any time that I get to a park, whether it be Knoebels and Fun Spot, which I have visited the most, or some place new like Dollywood last year, it's a wonderful experience that makes me romp and jump around like a small child. I don't care how many times I've ridden the same coaster or gone to the same park - my enthusiasm comes from going to go play in the park and riding the coasters, regardless of what amazing new attraction was most recently installed.
  11. Let us know what game you're using, and make sure to add ".png" (jpg, tiff, etc) to the end of your Imgur URLs.
  12. My goodness, that's too bad. From what I understand, the last refurbishment to Space Mountain was supposed to reliably bring back the cannon effects (in addition to new projections inside), but I guess that was short-lived. Too bad about the audio too, but isn't it supposed to be getting new trains soon as well?
  13. More like Switzerland amirite AH HA HA HA HA.
  14. It got a nice new set of trains...last year? Considering the circumstances, maybe we'll see them on another Arrow hyper coaster? I wonder how they'd run on Phantom's Revenge. I realize that's technically a Morgan now, but still. Or, on the Big One, maybe trains with shorter car lengths will make it oh so slightly less wonky.
  15. The real question is... Why is this not being released on PC? This is different from the "classic collection" currently offered on Steam that has the three original games separate. Links at the bottom of this post... Links: iOS App Store Link Google Play Store link
  16. C'mon, Knoebels, give Venus a new lease on life...
  17. Request from Theme Park Review's resident ropes course enthusiast: more photos of Camp Discovery please!
  18. As someone who isn't...particularly thrilled with the cabanas, I see no issue with the express bus service. I want to say that Disney is trying to eat into the Uber and Lyft crowd with this service. I'd be willing to believe that people would choose to Uber or Lyft around the resort to not have to deal with waiting around for the buses - especially if the situation is the same as it was a few years ago, where you had to jump on a resort bus and THEN connect to a park bus to get to another park. That whole process could take over an hour! And you're absolutely right about the locals vs tourists thing! When you've spent an obscene amount of money on your vacation, the last thing you want to worry about is logistics.
  19. I don't think it's a finalized plan, but I definitely think it looks like an illustration on top of a properly-scaled 3D scene. I highly doubt that they're only in the initial concept phase at this point. I'm really just going off of the usual assumptions of how much space dark ride buildings take up, how big the rumored space is, etc..
  20. Honestly, I'm not sure I really consider this a family coaster anymore. It may not have any actual inversions, but this thing is slightly taller, faster and longer than Nemesis Inferno. It's even about the same height off the ground as Piraten (30 meters)!
  21. Yeah, the VR system that they stuck on Freedom Flyer during the week of the Expo last year was really popular. It made the waits for the front rows of seats virtually nonexistent, but you ended up sitting in the seat doing nothing until the VR people were situated.
  22. GameXplain I'm assuming. Less work for me, then. That's interesting then. If they're not including other franchises, why would they call it "Super Nintendo World"? If they have a huge pyramid over on the right, some sort of major Mario attraction in the back, Bowser's Castle on the left and Peach's castle in the front...I realize it's concept art but that seems like it will take up a lot of space.
  23. I have approximately ten similar pairs of beige / tan / etc cargo shorts.
