  1. Probably because SFNE's is built on Twister's (top spin) old pad and foundation, and the other parks have to do a bit more to get the site ready, just a guess. You really just ave to figure out a nice flat spot to park the ride.
  2. Oh trust me I think the world needs more Holiday Events, this one just seems way too conservative based on the press release. I wish they would add a few more coasters (or at least Flight Deck) to appeal to a larger mix of people.
  3. I think the biggest benefit would be more competition for B&M who has the market cornered on non launched, high capacity steel looping coasters. More competition would likely push them to improve and take more risks and that type of healthy competition would be beneficial to the industry as a whole.
  4. To be fair I don't really think anyone is complaining. A few of us are laughing at the dumb PR spin but I don't think anyone's really upset by this. lol I'm thrilled for the ride, I love his new direction within the industry of fixing up old rides and making them ride-able and fun again. I have no issue with them marketing them as new rides because for all intents and purposes they really do feel that way if done right (as I feel this will be).
  5. Serious question for the locals... if you lived in San Francisco is there any reason you'd go to this event and not Holiday in the Park at Six Flags? I was thrilled when I saw the posting but after reading the press release I'm just confused and underwhelmed. My assumption is that they're going to block off the park behind Great America theater and the bridge over the access road that leads to Centrifuge, the Mouse and the Drop Tower. If they don't they're just going to have a ton of dead space everywhere. I tend to think they're planning on having one adult coaster open because if they were planning on opening Flight Deck they would have said that. So they mentioned 18 rides including Gold Striker, Star Tower, Rue Le Dodge, Celebration Swings, Carousel Columbia, Delirium and many of your Planet Snoopy favorites. So that means there are 12 rides including whatever they open in Planet Snoopy not counting the ones they mentioned. There are 16 rides in Planet Snoopy, even if they only open half that leaves us with 4 more rides. 3D Theater is an obvious choice, Flying Eagles is a safe bet... is that it? Maybe 1 or 2 more rides throughout the park (or maybe they open 10 rides in Planet Snoopy and that just covered everything). I know thrill seekers aren't the main draw but I don't get it. I understand being conservative rather than sticking your neck out and opening the entire park and investing a ton of money on staffing but it seems like they're being way too conservative in a market where you already know this can be successful since Six Flags is open year round. Can someone please help me understand the appeal? I would expect Six Flags to crush them and I think that's a shame since this is likely a test for other parks in the chain (like Carowinds) and they seem to be as conservative as possible with it. I'm not pretending to be an expert, I hate to complain because I love Holiday events but I don't get the appeal here in such a competitive market. I know it's more about lights than rides but Six Flags has both... and they have animals which for families is a big deal.
  6. I'm not complaining. I stated pretty clearly that I don't care. But I don't believe that they're removing the water features because of a drought. I believe they're removing them because they don't feel like paying the small amount of money necessary to maintain then going forward. There's no reason to make a permanent change for a temporary drought, they could just turn them off and let them dry up and claim it's because they're being drought friendly, then when the drought is over they could run them again. As I said, I don't care. My entire point is that it's a ridiculous excuse for cost cutting (and again, it's logical cost cutting that won't take away from anyone's experience so I'm not complaining, just laughing at their stupid PR spin).
  7. Is that seriously their excuse for getting rid of water features? I could see turning them off short term but give me a break. It's a cost cutting measure. I'm totally fine with that but don't insult people's intelligence and say it's because you're being conscious of the drought. Lol
  8. Yes, most of the restaurants are just fronts for the same crap but Panda Express is Panda Express. It sounds like it may turn into a generic "Chop Six" but for now it's Panda Express with a limited menu. Just like Coldstone is Coldstone with a limited menu. We've learned that at any park not known for having great food it's better to eat at the name brand restaurants. That way the quality is going to be better. The same applies to food trucks. I'll give Six Flags credit for Machi Nacho though. It's quite good. We're not dining plan people, I'd rather pay 10 bucks for better food. To each his own though.
  9. All I heard during Holiday in the Park was that getting food was a giant problem but we went 4 times and never once experienced this. I've never stepped foot in Grannies and never will because I hate the majority of generic Six Flags food but anyone who went to Panda Express during the event was greeted with much better food, no lines and much better service. It's an indoor temperature controlled restaurant and nobody remembers it exists.
  10. You're sh*tting me right? Please tell me you're sh*tting me. ... Please
  11. lol yeah it's a carnival ride they can put it together in like 3 hours once the foundation is in place. Great Adcenture's went up in a day.
  12. They should have just cut to the Mean Streak webcam and left it there for the entire game. If I win the Powerball I'm making this happen just to watch people bitch.
  13. Haha no problem. In the future don't let a full Sky Ride line bother you. Due to their incredible capacity a full ramp is only about 10 minutes.
  14. I agree. Justice League makes way more sense, especially for Holiday in the Park and to grow their appeal for families which is something they've been actively working. It's consistent with additions like Deja Vu, SORA, Bumper Cars, Sky Screamer (to a lesser extent) and Holiday in the Park which target this market. They've done plenty for thrill seekers lately with Joker, El Diablo and Zumanjaro and even though enthusiasts will never be satisfied and always want more, Justice League is a very likely choice for this location and for 2017.
  15. Yes, but the T Rex thing is still a major stretch.
  16. Yeah I just took a look too and then came to the realization that I was literally watching ice melt and stopped staring at it. I'm now sitting around contemplating my life choices that have led me to this point.
  17. If that ends up being the case then any park that chooses to have a new coaster interact with a Log Flume rather than removing the flume is awesome in my book. ... well unless you remove an Arrow suspended. Then your park sucks but having a coaster interacting with a flume would still be nice to see.
  18. Holiday in the Park should always be on everyone's mind.
  19. That's a hell of a leap to make just because they demolished a mostly unused coaster station while they already had a crew in the park demolishing other unused and useless buildings.
  20. Cheetah Hunt was just closed because it's Cheetah Hunt. Is that ride really unreliable or do we just have bad luck with it? Lol
  21. Great view of Mean Streak on can 3 though. Happy Monday to the haters.
  22. Six Flags can only "fix" rides within their budget and also their ability. Six Flags itself can't just invent new restraints for Superman or fix whatever makes the Goliath train so terrible, it's not that simple. It may not even be possible as far as any of us know. Do we even know why the trains were changed in the first place, in either case? Obviously there was a reason. My point is that yes, the GP care about rider comfort, I hear complaints all the time after people get off painful rides like SLCs, in fact if anything I'd say non-enthusiasts have LESS patience for rought rides, the only difference is they're less informed and may not know the ride could be better than it is. In any case that isn't the only factor in whether or not the issues will actually be addressed. It is a factor but this is Six Flags and costumer satisfaction is even less a priority than it is at other parks. That's just the thing. It seems like it would have been more within their budget to not spend a ton of money on a brand new, prototype train when the old one (key phrase but from the outside looking in) seems fine and runs fine on every other giant Boomerang. They claimed it would increase capacity but it has the same amount of seats (or less since from time to time they just randomly remove some) so any impact is from the lack of having 2 belts and it's minimal. My guess is that they were told it would help with the downtime / constant saddling issue but that clearly hasn't happened and it made a good ride rough as hell in every row but row 1... which would be fine except there's no choice of seat so waiting in line for Goliath is like playing skull bashing Russian Roulette.
  23. I wonder will they hit up Intamin again and just get a river rapids ride. Cedar Point? What's wrong with Thunder Canyon?
