There's a block brake up there in addition to the lift block. I agree it looks really weird. Also it looks like Raptor, Sky Ride and Gatekeeper are closed for wind and Valravn is running so it seems to be semi wind resistant.

^^While I do obviously have a massive ego I just want to point out that you're all just jealous that I know how to tame even the meanest of all streaks and I'm not falsely praising a bad ride you guys just can't handle the meanness.

They're most likely not going to get a new coaster the year after they built Valravn and it sounds like there are similar markers near the resort gate. Sorry, the Mean Streak will keep on streakin and crushing enthusiast pipe dreams (and spines). Take a deep breath and let Mean Streak into your heart.

I for one am shocked to hear that on the opening night of a brand new 230 foot rollercoaster with beautiful weather and 2 huge events going on at the same time the park is crowded and the new ride has a long line. Im deeply sorry for anyone who had to endure this shocking turn of events.

I agree that I absolutely hate this, but I've never once seen Cedar point do it on any ride. Parks like Carowinds on the other hand do is constantly.

Wow, upon further investigation it looks like it did. It stopped exactly where I assumed it did but you're right.This isn't normal.

Yes. Exhibit A But in this case the ride probably stopped between the second spike and the loop. When a Boomerang does not properly engage the chain it has a set of brakes between the loop and second spike that activate so that the ride will stop there (the ride even has a catwalk... see). This prevents the train from possibly getting stuck in the cobra roll which has happened on multiple occasions and is the reason many of them now have catwalks there as well. The train does stop hard, but my guess is that the three guests that "were transported to a local medical facility" are trying to come up with a dumb lawsuit to file because it's America. They're fine.

They moved Cam 3. Kind of a cool view on it. Cam 1 is crap... less diving, more sky riding.

Okay but have you seen Big Wheel at Great Adventure? This is what it looks like. I'm not worried about LED lights just to "go green". I'm talking about updating lighting packages to make the rides look better which is what most parks are doing. Like this...

The Big Wheel at Great Adventure is unimaginably ugly at night. The lights suck so much that they shot a promo picture of Polar Point for Holiday in the Park with the lights on and then shut them off for the event because it ruined the look of the area by being so amazingly ugly. At least half the lights are burned out. I've been there twice this year and never seen LED lights. Is this really a thing? It needs to be but I don't see any evidence of that happening. That ride's light package is the poster child for ugly light packages. Maybe they use LED bulbs but not the type of LED strips that most parks are using now, and the majority of the bulbs are non working and look like hell.

It's fun to watch some of these first day hiccups on the webcams. Can't fault anyone of course. Also the Gatekeeper, Raptor and Valravn crews are crushing it right now even though it's the first day. Gatekeeper especially is hitting awesome intervals.

What day are you going to the park? If the weather is iffy I'd ride that first thing just to be safe.

Every ride slows down in the cold except for accelerator coasters that throw trains at different speeds based on conditions or apparently Batman at Great Adventure because it just absolutely, positively doesn't have time for your sh*t but the difference on I305 wasn't noticeable to me at all, even on a half full train.

For anyone who was contemplating being productive at work today I just wanted to post a friendly reminder that it's Ohio State Day starting at 11am and Passholder Preview Day so that probably won't be happening.
