  1. You nailed it. This thread is either "Oh my god can you believe this idiot didn't understand what a block check was?" or just enthusiasts trying to convince themselves that non-enthusiasts complain about stupid things more than they do (which isn't true at all... coaster enthusiasts are the world champions of entitled bitching and complaining). Don't get me wrong, there are some good posts here and there but generally I avoid this thread like the plague.
  2. Knoebels runs everything in the rain except sometimes Flying Turns.
  3. Don't worry I'll have a great time. Riding is more fun than hating. In all seriousness I still think the complaints about Mean Streak are completely overblown simply because of the park that it's located in and the amount of room it takes up. It's standing in the way of enthusiast's RMC wet dream, I get that... but it's not nearly as bad as everyone says it is. It's a rough wood coaster unless you ride it in a really stupid way, and if you do that it still offers you no airtime or notable forces to speak of. I get that, but people love to proclaim that it's one of the worst wood coasters in the world and that's ridiculous. There are dozens of wood coasters I can think of that are far worse, many of them where regardless of how you ride it they still beat the hell out of you. I enjoy Mean Streak just because it's fun riding through it. Even people that hate it know it's one of the most visually appealing coasters in America and it's location by the lake makes it even better so I enjoy riding it, especially because if you don't have Fastlane it's a welcome break from long lines.
  4. I'm actually really impressed. That looks great!
  5. Good catch. I assumed all of those things were portable (most of them seem to be, they just sit on a concrete slab).
  6. G-Launcher has a nice natural setting. Why would you build a massive brick wall ensuring that none of your guests can see it?
  7. And sorry for the double post but I'm hearing from multiple sources (and the fact that it's constantly running on webcam supports this) that Mean Streak is open for another fun filled season!
  8. Time Warp would make a lot of sense at Michigan's Adventure. I mean... don't get me wrong. it's one of the worst roller coasters on earth. But people would probably eat it up since you ride in a flying position and they really don't know any better. Plus it's a portable ride that could be moved easily I'm sure. I would think that park would remove Flight Deck as well. The rides are right next to eachother, they're both terrible and it would free up some room for a respectable coaster. Luckily Michigan's Adventure wouldn't be a fit for that since they have the same ride. I sort of picture them slapping Kumbak trains on it and giving it to Valleyfair.
  9. Yup, it's been testing for days. Should be open soon. Get excited people. get excited...
  10. That plaza actually looks moderately mediocre which is better than I expected.
  11. Here's a story from a few days ago saying June 15th. The website says June 1st and as has been mentioned, yesterday there was a post that has since been deleted saying it wouldn't open at all. I saw the post too. If I were a betting man I'd bet on the last option. There's no way in hell this place will open this year.
  12. I never bother with table service restaurants at parks but if you're there multiple days then I strongly recommend Famous Dave's. Go out the resort gate and it's a 2 minute walk right in the Marina. You can sit outside right on the water and watch the boats and the coasters go by and enjoy a few drinks and some pretty good BBQ. I can't recommend it enough. The food is good but more importantly it's a great place to sit (again... sit outside). In the park the food offerings are pretty mediocre. Someone will be here soon to tell you to go to Midway Market. In advance of that I think it's important to let you know that Midway Market sucks and that person deserves to be smacked. If you have to eat in the park just go to a chain like Panda Express because anything Cedar Point makes is terrible. Edit: Beat me to it.
  13. Seriously? That must be brand new. Okay, then enter either the main gate or the resort gate to be safe. I'd enter the main gate personally.
  14. ^ This Early entry includes Valravn, Millennium Force, Maverick, Gatekeeper, Tiki Twirl, Cadillac Cars, Dodgem, Cedar Downs, Midway Carousel and Kiddie Kingdom. I would either enter from the Marina gate and go to Valravn (long walk from Breakers) or the resort gate and go to Maverick. Either way try to throw in Millennium Force right before 10am and beat some crowds. The only coaster that comes to mind as being a tight fit is Wicked Twister but there may be more. A few other tips: - You can ride Gatekeeper during early entry but once 10 AM hits avoid Gatekeeper, Raptor and Valravn for a few hours unless you have Fastlane. - On Friday Gemeni will probably only be running one side. Wait until Saturday to ride it as it's much more fun that way. - Of course the obligatory "Ride Mean Streak in row 1 and lean foward keeping your back completely off the seat back" and "Tighten the seatbelts as much as possible to avoid thigh crushing on Magnum" tips. Also ride the Sky Ride frequently. The line isn't as long as it looks and I can confirm that the ride is both "amaze-balls" and "the bomb dot com". - Since you mentioned that you haven't ridden Rougarou, try it near the back. It's very forceful (as floorless coasters go) back there. - When you come back be sure to write a trip report! - In that trip report please for the love of god don't talk about Valravn or Millennium Force rattling. lol Welcome to TPR and have fun at Cedar Point!
  15. Saw this happening when I got there Sunday. I hadn't realized it's a recurring thing. I think Ka has been more reliable this year than Zumi has to be quite honest. Maybe so but it still has a long way to go before it takes the title of "Most unreliable piece of sh*t in the park" award away from Twister. Ka and Zu get all the attention but Twister was an unreliable piece of sh*t before it was cool
  16. I know I said I was leaving but these guys seem to ignore 100% and nobody complains about their customer service. I'm not saying they're right, I'm just saying it's not like Dollywood is the only park to do this. Many parks are completely unresponsive on social media. Not everybody can be Knoebels and do everything right 100% of the time.
  17. That's it. I'm out of here. This thread is driving me to drink.
  18. I think the post on the website covers it perfectly. They don't want to give a timeline if they legitimately have no idea (which they don't). Everyone's going to bitch no matter what they do anyway.
  19. I don't see how anyone could find any fault in this. Great move by SFOG. It's always great to see a park improving an old, sub-par attraction. I love this trend in the industry.
  20. It'll probably still be better than Gator golf on I Drive.
  21. 40 minutes for Hydra??? Pics or it didn't happen. Lol 5 minutes would be an excessive wait for Hydra. In all seriousness I'm sure it's possible that randomly the park will get flooded with an abnormal amount of school groups or something but aside from that there will never be waits for anything at Dorney. Not on Summer Saturday's, not "when the water park gets out" not during Haunt. Never... So if on rare occasion there are a ton of busses maybe it's possible but in all my visits in the last 15 years with a season pass I've never seen it and we usually go to Dorney on days we know every other park will be slammed.
  22. Oh for f**k's sake. If you go to the website there's a HUGE orange bar across the top of EVERY SINGLE PAGE ON THE ENTIRE WEBSITE that says " Lightning Rod will not be open to the general public at this time due to extended ride commissioning. Learn More" and then when you click on "Learn More" while you're b**ching about how they're obligated to make a statement you'll see the statement that they made and it says... "Lightning Rod will not be open to the general public at this time due to extended ride commissioning. Lightning Rod is an innovative ride featuring new technology never before used on a wooden coaster. The ride manufacturer asked for additional time to commission the ride. Keep watching Dollywood.com for future updates." Oooh it's a conspiracy. They're "remaining quiet" except for on every single page of the website. What do you want them to do exactly? Mail you a puppy and hand-written letter that says "Dear entitled enthusiast. Please have mercy on us and try to forgive us for the fact that you assumed an innovative new coaster that's completely unique would absolutely, 100% be open on time and booked a trip for opening day. I completely understand how one ride being closed would be enough to make you cancel your trip to one of the best parks in America even though a year ago when this ride wasn't here you'd have absolutely loved all of our other offerings which we still have. Please send all bills for therapy and tissues to Dolly directly and we'll be sure to reimburse you. We're really sorry we tried to trick you by not making a statement (except for all over social media and on every singe page of the website). Next time we'll send you smoke signals and hire a sky writer. Well - we took our HIGH AND MIGHTY pills today didn't we? Did anyone ask for a puppy - nice extra prize though - Did this person say they booked a trip on opening day - NOPE. The park hyped the heck out of the ride - theres no way with a two month delay they had any plans that it would be open on March 18 and while not exactly a "conspiracy theory" I do think they are trying to not make a "big deal" about an extended delay. So if social media posts everywhere and a huge obnoxious banner on every page of the website isn't enough then what exactly would you like them to do? Pay for TV ads everywhere in the country saying that Lightning Rod isn't open yet in case someone from there was planning on booking a hotel room? Should they have Dolly go door to door? What would you like them to do that they're not doing? But you're right... I'm the "high and mighty" one. Not the people who feel like the park owes them some kind of statement even though they already made one and posted it everywhere.
  23. I'd pick on the Millennium rattle comment but since you gave the Sky Ride some love I'll just say that that was an amazing trip report. Glad you had fun, lol
  24. Please, please, please get rid of Minebuster. That ride needs to die.
