  1. ^^You'll be there for 3 days so you'll be able to have a few stress free days without rushing around. Will you be there for Early Entry (either by staying at the park or by having a Platinum Pass)?
  2. We went last Memorial Day Friday, Saurday and Sunday and it was pretty busy. Thursday crowds will be manageable probably. Friday a little busier, Saturday don't be shocked to see hour+ waits for Valravn, Millennium Force, Dragster and Maverick (and of course the customary 90 minute waits for Gatekeeper and Raptor in the morning). Still not awful if you don't mind a little waiting.
  3. I used to feel the same way. Then I went there.
  4. How about we put the activists in with the pythons and vipers to keep them company? That way they won't be so traumatized. It's a win-win for all.
  5. Well. Based on that post it IS obvious you really have a thing for special mushrooms.
  6. I'm glad someone else likes Nighthawk. I really fail to see the problem with Vekoma flying coasters.
  7. Windseeker and Sky Ride have the same wind requirements. It was a windy weekend last weekend so I'd imagine neither were open. Occasionally Windseeker also has mechanical issues though but it's generally down for wind. If Sky Ride is open and Windseeker isn't it's caused by a mechanical problem 99% of the time (Sky Ride, being a Von Roll almost never breaks down).
  8. I think Manta is infinitely better than Hulk but to each his own.
  9. Is that an every day thing or does it depend on conditions? Like if it were a 90 degree summer night with no wind would you just send it around or are they still reluctant to do it?
  10. That actually sounds like the opposite of what I would expect. Generally it would run faster as the day went on. Very strange...
  11. Yeah but that's sort of a special case since it's an Arrow, Morgan hybrid and the trains are different than the other Morgan hypers.
  12. The chain lift will stop if the train doesn't clear the first set of brakes before it reaches the top. The lift hill is a block on just about every coaster. Also, Fury has a variable speed lift so depending on where the train is on the course it will slow down to allow it time to reach the brakes before completely block stopping.
  13. Looking good! From the Great Adventure Connoisseurs Facebook page.
  14. Is Challenge Golf still as horrendous as I remember it?
  15. Carowinds has a webcam on the water park. Since it's brand new that might be your best bet. Please note: If it looks like the city of Charlotte is going to be swallowed up by an earthquake that registers 7,000 on the Richter scale that's because the webcam is mounted on Skytower and it shakes violently when the ride is operating. Just wait a minute or two and it will stop.
  16. During the day I think El Toro crushes the Beast. The two coasters don't even belong in the same conversation. It's between an incredible airtime machine and a meandering coaster that doesn't do anything at all. But at night though... the Beast in the front at night is the best roller coaster experience I've ever had on any coaster.
  17. No, Morgan hypers (with the exception of Steel Eel) are the most forceless coasters in existence. They're very smooth but as hypers go they're also a bit dull. On Magnum, tighten the seatbelt as much as possible to stop yourself from slamming into the bar. I was never a fan of Magnum until a former ride op on this site shared that trick with us and now I absolutely love the ride. It prevents all thigh crushing and it puts Morgan hypers to shame.
  18. It would only increase capacity if there's a coaster out there where ride ops generally have the train locked, checked and clear for dispatch and standing around waiting for the train to clear the lift before they can send it. The only coasters on earth where I've ever seen ride ops that were so fast that they were standing around waiting until they could send the train are Phoenix and Twister. Outside of Knoebels I've never seen that be an issue and Knoebels isn't really a "launched lift hill on a wood coaster" kind of park.
  19. Gross. Magnum does an extraordinary amount of riders. In 2014 it gave 1,355,861 rides. The only rides (not just coasters) in the park that gave more were Gatekeeper, Millennium Force and Raptor. Magnum isn't going anywhere and it doesn't need fixing.
  20. What you just said should be the park's official slogan.
  21. We rode Fury in a complete downpour last year and it might have been the most painful ride on any coaster I've ever ridden. It's between that, my ride on Nitro in the sleet and my ride on the Great Adventure Viper on a pleasant 75 degree afternoon.
  22. I wasn't planning on going back until after the VR thing is over with anyway but unfortunately that looks really permanent. Let's hope it isn't. This park is so atrocious it's almost funny sometimes.
