  1. ^^ Ignoring the HUGE cultural conversation of capitalism, the politics of class, who *deserves* to have recreation, and the implications of importing real world class divisions into recreational entertainment... the upcharge priority programs at theme parks are a business decision that comes with pros and cons. When you created a two-tiered guest experience with these priority passes, you have to do a careful balancing act. They can generate a good amount of extra revenue, and they're super valuable for guests who are on once-in-a-lifetime trips and trying to maximize how much they can do. But... If higher tier guests get SO much priority that it detracts from the experience of the lower tier guests, the lower tier guests will eventually stop coming. Disney (particularly Orlando) has been dealing with this problem for years. The original FastPass™ was brilliant because it gave you the chance to skip lines, but it was equally available to all guests so nobody really felt like they were being cheated. The problems started when Disney tried to monetize the program in various ways and now it's this whole monster.

  2. Very interesting the way they're doing the colouring to 'disappear' into the skyline.

  5. This post is so far off the rails here but there's a lot to unpack in this post that has absolutely nothing to do with a fast pass system. You've made unnecessary comments in the past but this one tops the cake for you. You yap that this is a worldwide controversy yet all I see in your post is what the real biggest problem with our society is currently. Selfishness and a what about me and what I get attitude. Me, me, me and mine. Not everyone has the same opportunities to get ahead in life no matter how hard they work. Your attitude of how you see people is rather quite disgusting. Just because you worked hard doesn't mean you're better than a guy pumping gas, that guy is working and yet somehow he's a cigarette addicted alcoholic that's still an entitled drain on society to you. Somehow people who don't go to college are automatically living the immediate gratification lifestyle and are out there just buying nice things and living it up. Wut? Lol this is absolutely delusional None of this shit is as simple as you seem to think it is. We get it, you don't like paying taxes, none of us really do, when we all know they piss away a lot of it and especially me when a lot of my taxes go to fund the police who also have these same awful entitled attitudes that many of them have, including yourself.

  6. I saw 2 of them and here are my thoughts: Kimberly Akimbo is beautiful and heartbreaking. Victoria Clark WILL win the Tony for best actress. It has already been announced that a national tour will go out so see it! So life affirming. Some Like It Hot is a big splashy Broadway musical in every sense of the word. The score by the same team that wrote Hairspray is filled with swinging tunes. Literally! Almost every song is an uptempo swing song, and they are all great. This show NEEDS to win some Tonys to continue running. & Juliet also announced a national tour already, and the show is continually selling out. It doesn't need any wins to continue making money at the box office. I really wanna see Shucked. I have heard nothing but great things about it. NYNY? Don't know if it will last if it doesn't win anything. We'll see!

  7. Disney was probably one of the last parks on Earth to monetize the 'skip the line' programs so I really don't think they started the problem!

  8. I wouldn't recommend the VC or Hagrid SRL to TPR readers. If you truly don't care where you sit and can get in the SRL right when it opens/reopens for VC, sure go for it. You still don't have a great idea of how many people are waiting beyond the locker room and could get end up waiting just as long as the regular queue. Hagrid's SRL seems to be uncapped lately. Like, extending out of the building down the stairs almost to the first section of ramps beyond the main archway entry. Have all the Hagrid SRL as you want Operators are very vocal about how the SRL: has no estimated wait time. you will not have any seat preference. you will not sit with someone else you got in line with. Sadly most guests think it's an express-like hack they learned from socials. Meanwhile since Spring Break/East crowds, I've experienced VC many times with a 20-40 minute via the regular queue as well as Hagrid 45-60 minutes (even on the weekends). I do recco SRL for Forbidden Journey, MiB, Transformers, SpiderMan, River Adventure, and Hulk.

  9. Something about calling this coaster the "All-American" after it was made in Germany, and then operated in Germany, England, Malaysia, and Mexico just makes me laugh! Glad they are getting it going though!

  10. It's the center of controversy worldwide. "That's not fair" is an epidemic. Why should that person get an A, because they put in more work? Shouldn't we all get A's? I'm a victim of my own circumstances and chose not to take full advantage of I opportunities. Why should the person who worked hard get extra privileges? Why should my wife and I be able to skip past people, just because she has a high stress job, works from 9PM to 12 AM when our kid goes to bed? Why? Just because she went to college and sacrificed an immediate gratification lifestyle? Just because we didn't buy nice things, and instead paid off ten years of college immediately, while other people chose the route of high car payments? Why should I be able to skip the lines, just because I worked full time in a factory while paying my way through school? Why should our daughter be able to reap the benefits of me working night shifts for months at a time in order to give my family a better life? It's bullshit and not fair. Other people need nicer houses. Better cars. Better clothes. Fast passes, no matter what life they chose. I should actually give my pass to other people who didn't try as hard in life. I'm already happily going to pay a mortgage penalty fee soon, when we buy a new house. The extra $40 a month will go to people who've been able to enjoy living in the moment and spending their money paycheck to paycheck, instead of investing in life improvements. It's our fault for having no outstanding debt and paying what we owe. We shouldn't be able to have nicer things, just because we maintain an excellent credit score through our own disciplined lifestyle. We should all enjoy the same benefits no matter how hard we try. The chain smoking day drinking gas station clerk should actually get my fast pass. I need to buy his daughter's nice clothes, too. I'll keep working long hours. My wife doesn't need sleep. I'll gladly sign my new car over to whoever needs it. I paid for it in full, because I'm rich, despite "upper middle class" seeming less and less like that every year. The roach infested apartments from my very early childhood gave me privileges. I don't deserve nice things. As long as everyone gets reap the same rewards I do, we'll all be happy. It will motivate me to work harder, longer, and strive for the wealth of other people. None of this shit is localized like people think it is.
